Randy Scott's Sour Grapes....

State Senator Goes Down .... Without Class.
Well, Primary Day has come and gone.... There were some tight races, some blowouts, but everyone handled themselves with class and dignity- and then there was Randy Scott......
I got to watch his tirade on Channel 5 today, and it was pretty sad. The Senator who has been under fire lately for his DWI arrest and subsequent dismissal, was beaten by Mike Rose (who I don't know), but his fire was still aimed at Dorchester County Sheriff Ray Nash. Apparently, Scott still thinks Nash had it in for him, and that his arrest was a total setup. The amount of paranoia that some politicians have is astounding.....
I had the same thing come up with Al Bradley when we were running against each other. He thought the Sheriff and I were planning on doing the same to him. Ridiculous !! Apparently, Scott has the same paranoid streak in him as well....... I don't know what Scott and Nash have against each other, but I've known Nash and his family for about 4 years, and I like all of them. Sure I'm biased. I met Scott once, and he didn't make a particularly big impression on me either way. But, this display hasn't impressed me at all..
If you're a fan of the blog, you know that last summer, I had my own small encounter with the cops and drinking and driving. The funny part that people forget is that if you're not drunk, the cops can tell, and they'll let you go. It's pretty simple. If Scott didn't make such an ass out of himself, he would have been let go, but he did, and he paid the price. Rule of thumb: Unless you're Ed Robinson, you don't get arrested then elected. Only in North Florence is it a sign of respect....
Yeah, both Scott and Nash are gone, but Nash didn't lose, and he hasn't been arrested. I'm sure Earl could shed some light on this Dorchester County drama, but th eway it looks to me, Scott is the one who needs to evaluate what he's doing. He's got plenty of time for it now...........

Nash is retiring at the end of his current term, which expires at the end of the year.

As for Randy, I can beat the dead horse, but why? This issue has been gone over and over, and around here, everyone is tired of it and wants the issue to go away.

The race is over, Randy is over, so what's the big deal?

I agree with your points, Earl. I just thought it was a pretty classless way to go out. Scott sounds like the kind of guy who would go postal if he knew he going to die.

As with someone leaking Robin Beard's cancer diagnosis, the issues with n agency FOIA for Randy Scott's phone call recordings still stinks like "mullet left in the sun three days".

Nash, I wish were staying in, yet the actions of his subordinates, particularly around the detention center, would make that race more contentious and leave a few eithcal questions on the plate. Ethical questions akin to some raised in the escape of a Charleston detainee named Kornahrens during the appointed tenure of Chalreston's first Republican Sheriff since reconstruction. The suspect being transported to court for another hearing managed to escape in a mess that still suggests that he might have been given the keys to the car with a wink and a nudge. A manhunt went on for a few weeks and the miscreant was recaptured and an inherited staff saw a Carroll Campbell appointee lose the subsequent election to then Democrat Al Cannon. Since then the county police, a uniquely separate agency stripped from the usual county sheriff's assets, was incorporated into the Charleston County Sheriff's team, but I digress.
