Rangel's Illegal Rent Controlled Apartments..

This Office Is Legal, But His Harlem Office May Not Be......
You know, reporting is a tough business sometimes. Often you get accused of being one-sided one way or the other, which isn't the case a lot. Sure, the editors can have their own agendas, but even at the most liberal of newspapers, a good reporter can get a good story through...
The New York Times had a story that has gotten House Ways and Means Committee Chair, the gravelly-throated Charles Rangel (D-NY) into a lot of hot water. Rent controlled apartments are a big thing in New York City, otherwise, NO ONE could afford to stay there. The rule of thumb is that you can only have one, and that it must be your primary residence. Well, it turns out that Rangel has FOUR, and one of them is his official Headquarters in Harlem.
People, this is a MAJOR f-up... If Joe Citizen pulled this stunt the NY Housing Authority would be coming down hard on him. We'll see how they treat Rangel. Right now, it looks like Rangel and the owners of the condo will settle this privately, but Rangel isn't talking. As quoted in the NYT, Rangel refused to comment. "Why should i help you embarrass me?". Translation? Guilty as charged.....
The story gets a bit detailed, but it's very interesting. Here's the link:

Strom had not problems walking between terminals at Charlotte Douglas... then again, Rangel IS NY's handicap.
