Rudy Picks Up Robertson's Endorsement..

Just to update an earlier post, I got a call from the State Director of Rudy's campaign, who apologized for the lapse in communication. No need for apologies, but it was nice. I also got updates on other things. So, to clarify, there is no problem between the campaign and myself.

The big news is that Rudy got the endorsement of conservative christian leader Pat Robertson. Granted, Pat has been a lightning rod with his mouth at times, but it does help Rudy cast his net even wider across the political spectrum. Here is the press release.........

Robertson Endorses Rudy Giuliani for President

New York City – The Rudy Giuliani Presidential Committee today announced that Pat Robertson has endorsed Rudy Giuliani for President of the United States.

“It is my pleasure to announce my support for America’s Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, a proven leader who is not afraid of what lies ahead and who will cast a hopeful vision for all Americans,” said Pat Robertson. “Rudy Giuliani took a city that was in decline and considered ungovernable and reduced its violent crime, revitalized its core, dramatically lowered its taxes, cut through a welter of bureaucratic regulations, and did so in the spirit of bipartisanship which is so urgently needed in Washington today.”

Week Three of Inside Mike's Noodle......

I had my third session with Dr. Bowman today. I'm starting to get an idea of how this works, and it's not as dramatic as you see on TV. No sudden breakthroughs, no enlightening discoveries, just reading more into yourslef, and making little improvements here and there.

I remembered to bring my homework from the previous week, so we went over that today. I thought he asked me for three negative comments on myself, the world and the future, but he actually just wanted three comments. Oops!!

The whole focus is on the thoughts themselves, and asking "Is this statement correct?" For most of them, the answer is no, they are exaggerations , and by constantly using these statements, we eventually get ourselves down. Just thinking or saying these things turns us into a depressed person. This , along with being relatively withdrawn, does not help me out.

We also talked about my making sure that I am more appreciative of people who care about me, and about keeping in touch with friends and family, even if nothing is going on. He also said that I might be too picky with women. HA HA!! I did tell him why I am attracted to Ms. X, and he seemed to understand why I care about her like I do - her legs!! Just kidding. Princess, it's the way we talk with each other - and your legs.

The next homework project is to take those same answers and to rewrite them into more correct and positive statements. Seems reasonable enough. That's it for now..

Team Rudy Undergoes Shift, Goes Silent Locally.....

Rudy is Still the Man, but His Staff Is Keeping Quiet in These Parts.....
I love Rudy. I really do, but the slipping poll numbers confirm what I have been feeling lately - that his team is slipping. A recent ETV Poll has fred Thompson at 18%, with Rudy and Mitt Romney tied at 16.5%, and a massive 30% undecided. Rudy has been running consistently in the mid-twenties until this poll, even with Thompson in the race.
The team underwent a small shakeup a month or so ago, with the loss of my good friend, Braden Bunch, and since then, I have not recieved a single phone call. So now, i am out of the loop..... I wish that the team were made up of local folks, but we are being led by pople from out of state that don't know our area , or speak our language. We are getting into crunchtime, and the phone is too quiet. I am a Co-Chair, and I don't even have a yard sign for myself!
This is no way a critique of Rudy Giuliani. He is no doubt the right man for the job in my mind. But I can't even hand out a yard sign to any interested people. We're closing in on 75 days til the big day and I'm getting a bit worried that my area is being bypassed once again....

Gov't Report Says $11.8B Wasted on Useless Earmarks..

Hey, here's a big surprise. A government audit shows that about $11.8 Billion (which is less than a Bazillion) of money in the latest Defense Budget is being wasted on non-defense earmarks. If you want specifics, i'd go to Citizens Against Government Waste. But it should surprise no one - it's what DC does.....

How is it happening? Well, all of the earmarks come in at the Appropriations Committee, of which one of the members is our own Jim Clyburn. They simply tack it on, it gets passed with no complaint, and you pay for it. By the way, $11.8 Billion is about $40 for every person in the US - and this is only in the Defense Budget.........

Flush it, flush, flush it down the hole.........

Citigroup Loses $11 Billion, and That's Not Funny..

Citigroup announced that it expects to lose $11 Billion this fiscal year, mainly due to loses from their sub-prime mortgages. Yep, those below prime teaser mortgages are really beginning to bite some of the finncial institutions in the ass. But , before you start laughing, guess who will be paying for it - you.
You see, there's a rule in finance...... Banks aren't allowed to lose money. And if they do, you just charge more to your existing customers to make up for it. If you have a credit card or mortgage with Citigroup, expect to see new fees and penalties on your accounts. Citigroup
also owns Travelers Insurance, where my car lost about $5k in value , but my premium only dropped $2 per month - coincidence? I think not.
My advice is to keep an eye out on your statements for any "Change in Account" messages, or to switch to a company that doesn't have any sub-prime loans out there.

SC6 Works on Through the Writers Strike.....

You probably already know that the TV and Film Writers Guild went on strike today. That means there is no one around to write the shows. The first ones that you will see it affecting are daily shows, like talk shows, daily news and soap operas. So get ready for the reruns!! Movies are not expected to be affected until Summer. We here at SC6 continue on, thanks to our staff of hires - what you might call Scabs....

The truly talented writers saw our blog hits, and most of them passed on working at such a low volume blog, so we have made due with the rest.. Here is a sample from Nicholas, a 6 yr old who signed up to write for us...........

"Citigrup losted a big mony. That is bad. I miss mommy when she is work. I am sorrey."

And he was the pick of the litter ! At least he could read !! Even Jr. High kids were smart enough to not write for us. So, minus our crack staff, SC6 trudges on. I thought South Carolina was a right to work state....

Today's Oddity That I Noticed....

Like you guys, there are some days that I don't think much about politics, and today is one of those days... I'm getting ready for the Pats/Colts game, when I saw a KFC commercial, when I realized the background music is Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'Sweet Home Alabama'........
In case it didn't sink in KENTUCKY Fried Chicken's theme song is Sweet Home ALA- frickin' BAMA ! That's like playing 'I Love New York' for South Carolina's Tourism Bureau......
What's next? 'Whatta Man' as the theme for Secret anti-perspirant? Kinda weird, don''t you think? I know, I'm being picky, but it's that pickiness that has allowed me to be alone for so long...... Oops. Nevermind.

Pats vs. Colts - The Game of the Year Is Finally Here.

It's the 8-0 Patriots versus the 7-0 Colts in Indianapolis, which I believe is German for a whale's vagina...... Maybe not. Everyone's been waiting on this one all year, and neither team has disappointed yet. New England has crushed everyone on their schedule like a tin can (41 ppg), and Indianapolis has looked great on both offense and defense. So who's it going to be? I know.

This will be an offensive showdown, folks. Both defenses are good enough to stop other teams, but not these two. Brady and Manning will both race up and down the field like someone is chasing them. The D's maybe have a stop or two, but this game will be determined by who makes the least mistakes, and Brady rarely makes mistakes. Manning does too, but he has an occasional game here and there where he looks human. Right now, Brady is playing like Superman. The Colts have won the last three, but the pendulum swings back today. Patriots 35-31.

Here's A Message From Me to All of You.....

In a post earlier this week, I talked about how one of my goals was to tell people thanks for the things they had done for me. I took care of my brothers and sisters yesterday, so today, I want to show my appreciation for you guys. This blog is a great release of tension and stress for me, but it wouldn't be if i didn't get the great insight of each of you.

West Rhino

Rhino, you take the blog to a new level of intellect and wit with your comments. I also know more about sex in a Volkswagen Beetle than I want to !!

Earl

Thank you for taking my campaign to a more legitimate level with your assistance, for keeping me motivated with the blog, and for being a kickass rocker!

Moye

Thanks for being the only person to take the time to help my congressional run, for being a good friend, and always looking out for me with good advice.

Bobby

Bobbo, thanks for helping me in times of woe, like I did for you when times were rough. You are the brother I almost have, and thanks for watching out for me and listening.

Ms. X

Princess, thanks for making me feel like the greatest guy in the world when I am with you. Good or bad, I love everything that is you. I miss you when you're not with me, but it only makes me that much happier when I see you again. ;)

Talk About Snail Mail.. My Bank Statement Comes 25 Days Late.

Remember a few months ago, when it took 2 weeks for my tenant's check to get to me? Well, I've got that on beat, thank to our friends at the US Post Office. This is my monthly bank statement. It was sent October 9th.......... I got it today. It took 24 days to get to my PO Box !!! It was so long, that I thought I had gotten it and misplaced it.

No doubt that it was stuck in the wrong Box, and it them 20 or so days to put it back in the mail slot. Not a big deal - after all, it only had my account number and every transaction I made that month..... Luckily, it wasn't opened. Now I know why people pay $15.00 for Fed Ex.

Saturday's College Picks.

Well I split the games last week. not to make excuses, but I didn't know Maryland's starting QB was injured, so I got it wrong. That puts me at 8-3. On to the picks.....

Clemson at Duke.
This isn't one where you ask win/lose, but how much Clemson wins by. The answer? A lot. They'll play it safe early and run all over the Blue Devils, but they still brake 50 points. Davis and Spiller crack 100 rushing yards each. Clemson 52-10.

South Carolina at Arkansas
These two teams historically have close games, and this probably will be no different. The Razorbacks are 4-0 at home, but they haven't played anyone good at home. Troy? Fla/ Int'l?? However, the Gamecocks often have November swoons, it's a night game, and it is in Arkansas. Arkansas 31-27.

Who the Hell Is Cap Fendig ??

Eleven Candidates Make the Ballot for January's Primary...

And the gates are now closed for getting on the ballot for SC's First in the South Primary, dated for January 19th. Eleven of them will be there, and here they are:

Hugh Cort, John Cox, Cap Fendig, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, Duncan Hunter, John McCain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Tom Tancredo and Fred Thompson. We've talked about most of them at one time or another, but Cap Fendig was a new one to me.

Honestly, I thought this was a dummy candidate, like a figment of someones' imagination. Even his name sounds like an anagram, like Hester Mofit in Silence of the Lambs........

So who is Cap Fendig, and how did he get $35k to enter the race? Cap is Glynn County(GA) Commissioner , and he owns a water taxi business in the Sea Islands outside of Savannah, so he is eminently qualified to be President. Like I said, rich people aren't crazy, they're cynical...

Good Luck, Cap !

Best of SC6 - Hillary Clinton, Hilary Duff or Duff McKagan ?

I was scrolling through the salad days of SC6 today, and I thought i'd rehash a few of my really good older posts. Here is one of them - a game I called Hillary Clinton, Hilary Duff or Duff McKagan........

Here's a quiz that combines three of my favorite things: Politics, Women , and Rock n Roll..... Michael Reese, why haven't you thought of this??Try to guess who did what - Sen. Hillary Clinton , Actress Hilary Duff, or Guns n Roses and Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan...... Enjoy!

Who is a Rocker, who wants to Rock, and who is as hard as rocks? McKagan, Duff and Clinton, in that order...

Who penned a best-selling book, who penned a best selling song, and who penned an album of inane drivel? Clinton (nee Rodham), McKagan, and Duff.

Who had Vince Foster killed? Hilary Duff...

Who played Lizzie McGuire on the Disney Channel? Duff McKagan.

Who had a decade long addiction to heroin? Hillary Clinton.

Who sounds best cranked up to 11? McKagan.

Who sounds best with the mute button on? Hilary Duff.

Who sounds best turned of completely? Hillary Clinton.

Quote: "I'm not gonna stay at home and bake cookies"? Duff McKagan.

Quote: " Axl Rose is an idiot... I would never get back together with him again." Hilary Duff.

Quote: "These Guitars kick ass.... Don't like it? F- off!". Hillary Clinton.

Wait. I think I got some of these mixed up.....

SC6 Hookup News.... Lance Armstong and Ashley Olsen. But I'm Still Single.

WARNING: You are in a Fluff-Post Area.....
It's tough keeping up with who's hooking up with who in Hollywood, but the checkout line at the Super Wal-Mart was a bit long today, so I got to do some 'research'. It appears that Lance Armstrong, 36, has been seen with Ashley Olsen, 22. For those of you who get confused on which Olsen twin is which, Ashley is the one that isn't a train wreck....
Maybe 14 years in age difference is lot, but if they get along , great. Not a big surprise opinion from me on that topic, is there? Speaking of which, I got to spend some time with Ms. X yesterday, and things are good. Not perfect, but good. I forgot to ask one question yesterday - when are we going to lunch??? ;)
Fluff piece is over.

Note to Spouses: Don't Kill Your Ex , You'll Be Caught..

If you've keeping an eye on the national news, you may have seen a couple cases of people turning up missing under odd circumstances..... A separated husband shot point blank in front of his child at school. A wife of a police sergeant disappears on the way to her sister's home... A wife who has her throat slit while jogging. Real disgusting stuff. The odd part is how most of these cases end - with the arrest of the spouse.
This may stun a few people, but most people are killed by someone they know. You usually have to know and hate someone a lot to kill them. And if you have had a bad marriage, there is a good way to get out of it - get a divorce. Don't kill your wife, because you will not get away from it. Plan it out as well as you can, but you will get caught.
I've been there. My first marriage was far from perfect, but I sucked it up and sat her down to work out a agreeable divorce. It wasn't easy, but we kept the lawyers out of it. Lawyers only cause you to not speak directly to each other. Be an adult, find a way to hash it out and move on. Yeah, maybe you might have to pay alimony. I didn't, but I did a good job of avoiding the lawyers.
In at least two of these cases I mentioned, the lead suspect is - SURPRISE - their spouse. It appears the wife hired the Russian mob to knock off her husband, and the Sergeant just had his cars taken away to the crime lab.. Maybe they get away with it in the movies and on the Lifetime Channel, but in the real world, they don't.

1980's One Hit Wonder Wants to Run Against Lindsey Graham....

SC6 Has learned that 80's Pop Star Kim Carnes is planning on running against incumbent SC Senator Lindsey Graham in 2008. No word on if 'Bette Davis Eyes' will be her theme song.

So far, the campaign has been very low-key. A press release on SC Hotline is the only evidence that she is campaigning for the seat. In the public interest, we went on a search for Carnes to clear up the confusion. Unfortunately, we are only more confused than when we started....

For starters, Carnes doesn't even live in South Carolina, she lives in California. Strike one. We decided to get the word straight from the horse's mouth, so we called Carnes agent, Swifty Rabinowitz.. Just to let you know, she is available for concerts, restaurant openings or company get togethers. However, Swifty said he knows nothing of it, so I called Carnes directly......

Just to reiterate, Carnes is available for concerts, birthday parties, etc..... When asked directly 'Will you run against Lindsey Graham?' Her reply was terse..... "Who the heck is Lindsey Graham". We are flabbergasted !!! Why would Kim Carnes make a press release, then not.......... Uh, TIM CARNES ?? Oh. Nevermind.

Happy Halloween !!

Do I Hate All Clyburns ?? I Must....

After I wrote my post last week about Jim Clyburn's cousin Bill, who is running for Senate Seat 25, someone aksed me a funny question in jest......... "Mike, Do you hate all Clyburns?" . Gee, I never thought about it. I guess I do.

Sure , we all known I have no love for Jim, but I guess Bill is now on my list too. Maybe if he didn't try to use the same old lowball tactics as Jim, I might feel otherwise. But he didn't.

But there are others.... Pianist Van Cliburn's ( above left) playing is pedestrian, choppy and sounds almost as though he were making fun of whoever he is playing. A good example of this is Schubert's 'Der Kinderspiel Eien kleine' . In it , Cliburn's dexterity is off - it sounds like he is missing a couple fingers.

On the right we have Baltimore Orioles great Danny Clyburn. What? You never heard of him? That's because he looked like a great player (6'4'' , 220), but that was about it. No power in the big leagues - always pulled the ball to left field. Throw him a curve, and he'd bail out. Bobby is a lifelong Orioles fan, and he's never heard him. Enough said.

All the other Clyburns have never amounted enough to comment on - I think that says it all.

So, do I hate all Clyburns. No , of course not. I hate the player, not the name...

.

Week Number 2 of Inside Mike's Brain...

Week Two of Therapy: I started out by forgetting part of my 'homework', so I had to think off the top of my head for answers - not my strong suit. Basically, he asked me what I want to get out of therapy.
First, I need to learn to control my temper. Secondly, I want to be able to learn to address conflict before I let it build up inside. Lastly, I want to tell those that do things for me that I appreciate them. In other words, to say thank you more often.
We went into discussions about what happened at work, and after about 15 minutes f me talking, what we got was that I confuse a problem as a conflict. Everything to me is a conflict - both professionally and personally. I avoid the problem to the point that I let it become a conflict. By then it's too late. I've dated women for months, and lost them over one argument - same thing. It took a little give and take, but I eventually got the point.
All of it is the result of a lack of confidence and assertiveness. I don't stick up for myself, and I don't have faith in myself. No big surprise to those of you who really know me... I don't believe in myself, so I take the blame for a lot of things, and since I dont; believe in me, no one else does either. Why should they???
I got more homework too. I need to practice being more assertive - even if it means picking an argument with someone. Also, I need to call my siblings and tell them why I appreciate them. Easy enough. I have something I've been avoiding, and I'll tackle that tomorrow. Session over. Next one is in a week. What did I say as I walked out? 'Thank You' ....... :)
.
