He's Back.. Gunnery Sgt Hartman Rates the SC Primary, and Picks a Winner.

Just in time for the South Carolina Primary, SC6 brings back it's old friend, and star of our 2006 Get Out the Vote Effort, Gunnery Sgt. Hartman..... Yep, Gunny Hartman has been busy since he last spoke with us, but he's back to help you choose a candidate on Saturday. With all of the candidates claiming to be the most conservative, we're sure you'll agree that his help is needed.....Here are his comments on the candidates..
Ron Paul of Texas. "Texas? Jesus H. Christ! Only two things come from Texas - steers and Libertarian kooks!! This guy says he served? Well he wasn't a Marine... Marines don't deliver babies - they kill, kill, KILL!! Marines don't pull our troops out of Iraq - they tear off Osama's skull and take a giant crap down his neck.""
Rudy Giuliani. "Did this guy's parents have any kids that lived?? What kind of strategy is it to be leading, then drop out of all the early states?? This campaign would diddle you doggy style, and not have to common courtesy to give you a reach around."
Fred Thompson. "How tall is he - 6'5?? I didn't know they stacked crap that high..... The guy wants to be President about as much as I like the VC... I like him though - I'll trade his wife for my sister."
Mitt Romney. " Is he a peter puffer? I'll bet he could suck a golf ball through a garden hose!!! He's flipped positions so many times, he's either a gigolo or a contortionist. I've got his name, I've got HIS ASS !!"
John McCain. 'Why that little maggot makes me wanna vomit...... Six years in a camp with Charlie, and he doesn't kill one of them?? Bullshit! He's an unorganized, grabastic piece of amphibian crap. He is tough, but no one will like him because he is tough. I'm kidding - Navy guys are all sissies!!"
Mike Huckabee. 'Let me tell you something.. God has a hard-on for the Marines ,Mike Huckabee and Chuck Norris. Why? Because they kill everything they see - including whatever Huckabee is hunting. Any little slimy- crap, twinkly-toed, common ass, corksucker who takes him on is signing his own death warrant. He will PT them all until their butts churn buttermilk !! He'll..."
We get the point....... Looks like Gunny Hartman is picking Huckabee, and so are we - by a hair..

Two Good Reasons to Vote for John McCain...

I really do need to upload a new picture of John McCain, but everyone likes this one, so why change... If you still don't know who to vote for Saturday, here are two reasons why voters in the Palmetto State are going for Mac......... Courtesy of David Letterman.

Missed Work Because Your Grandma Dies One Too Many Times? Try These for Inventive Ways to Call In Sick.

Need to call in sick, but you're running out of good excuses? We here at SC6 are always on the lookout to help you out. We found this list of the most inventive excuses employees had to not show up to work. Now they say the best thing to do is to tell the truth, but the last time i did that, i got fired. Use your best judgement.......

1. At her sister’s wedding, an employee chipped her tooth on a mint julep, bent over to spit it out, hit her head on a keg and was knocked unconscious.

2. While at a circus, a tiger urinated on the employee’s ear, causing an ear infection.

3. An employee’s dog wasn’t feeling well, so the employee tasted the dog’s food and then got sick.

4. “Someone put LSD in my salad.”

5. An employee’s roommate locked all his clothes in a shed for spite.

6. “Stuck on an island – canoe floated away.”

7. An employee was upset because his favorite "American Idol" contestant was voted off.

8. “I didn’t think I had to come in if I had time in my vacation bank. I thought I could take it whenever I wanted.”

9. An employee said he wasn’t feeling well and wanted to rest up for the company’s holiday party that night.

10. A groundhog bit the employee’s car tire, causing it to go flat.

Green Bay TV Stations to Keep Eli From Getting His Seinfeld Fix Before the Big Game..

Call it the Revenge for Jessica. After the New York Post sent a Jessica Simpson look-alike to the Giants game with the Cowboys last week, Green Bay is playing dirty too.....
No, it's not the Packers, it's the local TV station there. It seems that Giants QB Eli Manning is a big 'Seinfeld' fan. Who in New York isn't??? I guess it's a part of his pregame routine on the road. Well, the local station in Packertown will be pre-empting all the Seinfeld episodes this weekend to deny Manning of his Jerry-fix. Seems like they're going to long lengths to try and get in Eli's head - especially when he can just bring some DVD's with him - DUH !! Then again, this is the same town that made the Gilbert Brown burger a decade ago.
If I were Eli, I wouldn't worry about what's on the boob tube, I'd worry about the weather and that hard hitting Packers secondary. Like Jerry might say..'Why do they call is the secondary?? The front line isn't the PRIMARY...."

Ratzilla !!!

Bones of 2000 Pound Rodent Unearthed in Uruguay
We've all heard of Hogzilla........ get ready for Ratzilla! Archaeologists in Uruguay forund the bone from this monster in 1987, but it sat in a box until earlier this year, and researchers figured out exactly what they had.
Ratzilla isn't actually a rat, but a rodent in the porcupine or guinea pig - try keeping that sucker in a cage. It's scientific name is Josephoartigasia monesi, so I guess you can just call him Joe. They think they were around the earth about 4 million years ago, and they were prey for sabretooth tigers.
It's amazing that the Earth had gigantic beasts like these roaming around before we got here. Here's a link to a little film of the critter....

Huck and Chuck Hit Florence, With Ric Flair Too -WHOOOO!!

Which Way Do Prefer Huckabee's Chest - Clean (left) or Natural?

Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee flew into Florence today, along with his tough guy endorsers Chuck Norris and Ric Flair. It was a media event only at Powers Aviation, so the public wasn't allowed as far as I know. I was planning on going , thanks to my friends in the media, but I had a job interview that ran long, and I missed it.

I'm a Giuliani supporter, but there are some events that you try not to miss, and the marketing of Norris and Flair in Huckabee's campaign is great. If I hadn't left the camera at home, I'd have been there. Missed opportunities, right?

I'm a Congressman, I'm Ignorant, and I Like It That Way..

For years, I've complained that Congress has no part in investigating sterois in baseball, mainly because they don't know shit about baseball. The second reason is that Congress just doesn't know shit in general. For those who disagree, I give you Rep. Christopher Shays (R-CT). Here is a sampling of his comments during the recent hearings.....
He kept referring to former Baltimore Orioles star Rafael Palmeiro as "Palmeri".
He mentioned an incident after Palmeiro got his '300th hit' - he meant his 3000th hit...
He called the steroids scandal as the worst scandal in baseball since the 1919 "Black Hawks Scandal" - referring to the Black Sox scandal...
Guys, there are plenty of things that I'd like investigated, but if I don't my ass from my elbow about it, I'd pass. But Shays remained undaunted about it. When asked about his obvious errors, Shays replied, "I could care less".......... Of course, he should have said "I COULDN'T care less". Quit when you're behind, Chris !!

Have Nothing to Do Tonight? Check Out the State of the State Address.

Will Mark Sanford Give SC the Thumbs Up Tonight??
With all the attention given to the Presidential Primary lately, we've paid little attention to the politicians reconvening in Columbia this month. Tonight at 7PM Governor Mark Sanford will give his annual State of the State address.
South Carolina apears to have some challenges this year. With the economic slowdown - yes, it has slowed down a bit- Columbia will not have the duckets to play with like they have in recent years. No doubt Sanford will let the House and Senate know that the pork will be cut with his veto pen again. Will it be overriden again? We'll see. Any other items Sanford has to talk about will be interesting as well.
The address will be aired live on SCETV at 7PM..

SC Job Bank..... Where the Good Jobs Aren't.

I got a big lesson in the reality of finding a job yesterday.. After months of getting jerked off by about five dealerships from here to Hilton Head, I found myself stuck in neutral, without a real job opportunity in sight. I've been using SC Job Bank for finding a job, but it's always the same gigs... Account Execs at a local TV station, or Sales Jobs with no base pay.

Talking to my brother Matt on Sunday, he told me to try MSN jobs, and after Bobby esentially yelled at me to get off my butt and find work (tough love, indeed), i went onto MSN Jobs, which is essentially Career Builder.com. On it, there were a completely different set of jobs, including one for an advisor at Firestone. Those jobs usually are not online, because service advisors are kinda like chimpanzees - you find one on the street, and you can train them to do anything...

I'm not sure why the Job Bank has so few options, but it seems to me that they're not really doing the unemployed in South Carolina a service. What if I didn't have my own computer? How do poor unemployed people find jobs? I guess they don't.

For those of you keeping track, we're now at 4 months and five days since I last had a job. I never had this much trouble finding another one before, so I've had to learn to use all the options available, including ones I haven't needed previously. I'll just keep tracking, an waiting on a call.

Cumin Scented Lamb With Couscous ?!! Nancy Pelosi Turns the House Cafeteria Into a San Fran Smorgasboard..

Out with the Meat and Spuds, In with Mahi Mahi ?

Don't say that those Democrats can get things done in Washington....... Right next to the Minimum Wage increase, Nancy Pelosi has something that she can really hang her hat on - revamping the House Cafeteria menu...

Yep, she's had enough with that fatty Southern cooking like barbecue, and she's changed the catering company - one that has a bit of a fruitier menu. I'll be honest.... I can't pronounce most of the items, and I doubt I'd eat most of the stuff. It comes also at a much higher cost, which leaves a lot of the low end House staffers and employees wondering how they're gonna afford eating there. Here's a link on the story at Politico.com..

So, it looks like it's out with Cookie from 'City Slickers' menu - Hot, Brown and Plenty of It... I couldn't find a picture of Cookie, but I did find Curly, and he doesn't look happy....

As Curly would say... "City Folk !!".

Girl Faints During Clinton Speech...

Ah, Bill Clinton still has that old magic with the ladies - kind of. During a speech on the campaign trail, one of the participants - who was not a Clinton supporter - got tired from standing under the lights and fainted. She tipped right, then left, then she seemed okay before passing out for a second before getting up and exiting.
Clinton did comment on it by saying "It is HOT up here", but maybe if the Clinton team gave these kids some water, that would've been nice. The one bright spot in the video? Guess who came to her aid? Chelsea!! What a sweetheart....

Erection 2008: Romney Wins, Hillary Does Too But She Can't be Happy..

Boy, is this year a mess so far, or what ??? Three states down, three GOP winners. Meanwhile, on the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton won, but there are some definite signs that she has a major fight on her hands.....

Romney's 10 point win over John McCain, with the Campbell Soup Chef - I mean Mike Huckabee - trailing by another 13 points, has thrown the GOP nomination into a free for all. It seems that whoever has the 'must-win' state pulls it off, and this was surely Romney' gotta win....

Picture this, which is not impossible: Huckabee in Iowa, McCain in New Hampshire, now Romney in Michigan. Fred Thompson has set his flag in South Carolina, and Rudy Giuliani has put his money into Florida. Thompson is on the move here, so it is entirely possible that we could have five diffeent winners as we head into Super Tuesday. Holy Crap!!

Hillary's win might be the most damaging win in Primary history... When you are the only major candidate on a ballot, and you lose 35% to 'Uncommitted' , you have a big problem. Hillary's problem is that she has lost the black vote - she actually did 69% to 25% - and they came out in droves to protest. She tried to tie up all those ends early on, but the voters are showing that they don't vote for a candidate because their preacher or State Senator supports them for cash. Congressman Clyburn, keep that in mind..

Sure, she'll get them back in the Fall, but has she lost so much ground that she won't get there? It's possible. She's going to get a good thumping here in SC, so she probably can't wait for Super Tuesday to get here.

Tonight's best moments...

I Won, Therefore I Step On Your Speech.

John McCain comes out to concede Michigan. He starts to speak, and then Mitt Romney comes right out afterwards - McCain's speech gets skipped. Slick move, Mitt.

1998 Seems Like a Long Time Ago..

Waiting for Huckabee to concede, Fox Anchor Brit Hume had to ask who the guy talking forever was...... It was former Gov. David Beasley, who went on for about a half hour before Huckabee finally arrived. Hume's mic was open when he asked"Who is that?? What's his FIRST name?". Wow, that's a bit of a kick in the stones for Beasley....

Florence GOP Meeting: Good Crowd, But None of the Teams Show.

See.. We Have Our Share of Kooks in Flotown Too..
We had the last meeting before the Primary on Saturday last night. It was well attended compared to the usual count we have, but none of the official camps showed up for it. I guess it's not a surprise... Michigan is today, so McCain, Romney and Huckabee are all there, Giuliani is in Florida, and Thompson came through earlier in the week. I was a bit stunned that none of the local people came. Each candidate had a local citizen speak on their behalf, rather than a paid staffer.
It is tough to get the candidates here for the meetings. We have our meeting at the same time as Charleston County, where 200 attendees are not uncommon, so that's where the guys go. We made due despite it... State Reps. Crawford and Lowe gave us an update on Columbia, and City Councilman Brand spoke on city matters. None of the County Councilmen showed.

Who Is Mona Lisa? Now We Know For Sure...

The Mona Lisa.... The most famous painting in the world. For centuries, experts have guessed at the woman in the painting's identity. They've kinda had an idea, but until recently, they could not confirm it without a doubt. Now , that doubt has been taken away. It's a bit complicated, so i'll just give you the AP article...
BERLIN - German academics believe they have solved the centuries-old mystery behind the identity of the "Mona Lisa" in Leonardo da Vinci's famous portrait.
Lisa Gherardini, the wife of a wealthy Florentine merchant, Francesco del Giocondo, has long been seen as the most likely model for the 16th-century painting.
But art historians have often wondered whether the smiling woman may actually have been da Vinci's lover, his mother or the artist himself.
Now experts at the Heidelberg University library say dated notes scribbled in the margins of a book by its owner in October 1503 confirm once and for all that Lisa del Giocondo was indeed the model for one of the most famous portraits in the world.
"All doubts about the identity of the Mona Lisa have been eliminated by a discovery by Dr. Armin Schlechter," a manuscript expert, the library said in a statement on Monday.
Until then, only "scant evidence" from 16th-century documents had been available. "This left lots of room for interpretation and there were many different identities put forward," the library said.
The notes were made by a Florentine city official Agostino Vespucci, an acquaintance of the artist, in a collection of letters by the Roman orator Cicero.
The comments compare Leonardo to the ancient Greek artist Apelles and say he was working on three paintings at the time, one of them a portrait of Lisa del Giocondo.
Art experts, who have already dated the painting to this time, say the Heidelberg discovery is a breakthrough and the earliest mention linking the merchant's wife to the portrait.
"There is no reason for any lingering doubts that this is another woman," Leipzig University art historian Frank Zoellner told German radio. "One could even say that books written about all this in the past few years were unnecessary, had we known."
The painting, which hangs in the Louvre in Paris, is also known as "La Gioconda" meaning the happy or joyful woman in Italian, a title which also suggests the woman's married name.
Another great mystery of life solved by your friends here at SC6.....

SC6's Picture of the Day......

NC Church Tries to Attract People With Shot Glasses.

It's a Little Tough to Read, But It Says "Give US a Shot".......
You have to give credit to Evangelical Christians here in the Carolinas... they will try almost anything to attract people to their churches. Don't believe me? Check out Next Level Church in Matthews, NC..
The Charlotte area church has put out an interesting marketing strategy to build it's congregation - shot glasses!! Yep, they truly are trying to take it 'to the next level' by passing out those glasses to local bars in town, in the hopes of getting people to stop by on Sunday, after Happy Hour Saturday....
It's not a bad idea, I guess. After all, Jesus worked with prostitutes and other people that some may look down on, but maybe it is more about getting those who need help, rather than those most churches try to attract. It can't hurt, right?
Here's a link to the local news story. Just click on and play the local TV station story.

McCain and Romney Neck and Neck In Michigan...

No Word If Actor and Michigan Native Jeff Daniels Has Endorsed Yet..

We're one day before the Michigan Primary, and according to the polls - none of which I've seen - both Mitt Romney and John McCain are tied for the lead, with Mike Huckabee lagging a bit behind. With all the importance that both camps have laid on Michigan, the gloves are starting to come off.

Romney and McCain's camps are both focusing on each other. Romney would appear to be the more desperate of the two. He hasn't taken a major state yet, and he has pinned everything on his native state. In fact, one has to think about where Romney will go after Michigan, win or lose. His game plan was based on winning early, and that hasn't happened. With a win in Michigan, and what looks like a likely win in South Carolina, McCain looks to be in the drivers seat as the candidates get ready for Florida and Super Duper Tuesday.

As close as the race is, a big endorsement at the last minute could still turn the Primary, so here are a list of famous Michiganders who might stick their nose in the race....

You've got rapper/redneck Kid Rock..

Director/ BS Artist Michael Moore

Michigan's Poet Laureate (seriously!)

rocker Bob Seger...

Lastly, the man who ruined the Knicks...former Detroit Pistons guard Isaiah Thomas...

Come On Out to the Florence County GOP Meeting, and Support Your Favorite Candidate....

Monday night will be the monthly Florence County GOP meeting, where I'll be dining on my usual meatloaf and mac n' cheese with tea. The timing of the meeting is real good, with only 5 days remaining before the South Carolina primary. There are no special guests scheduled, although with it being the day before Michigan, most of the presidential candidates are not expected, but their camps are, and it should be a good opportunity to network and get some yard signs and other stuff from whatever candidate you like.
Here are the details:
Where: Horne's Restaurant
S. Irby St, just south of Cherokee Rd.
When: Dinner at 630, meeting at 700PM.
What Will Mike be Doing: looking good, shaking hands and nothing else!!
