Happy Birthdays To The Two Women Who Loved Me... Okay, Who Liked Me Once.

Yes, there have been plenty of women in my life, but only two have ever worn the crown. Actually, one wore it, and the other had it, but was smart enough to decline !! And as coincidence would have it, they have their birthday on consecutive days. Congrats, ladies.....

Tomorrow, my ex, Nicole, will be 34 . I haven't seen much of her since we broke up, but she did surprise me for my 40th birthday, and we got along fine. Yeah, I could have been a much better husband, but when everyone ends up okay, why bother arguing? We never really fought much anyway - which some may misconstrue as not caring. She's happy, I'm happy, life is good.....

Meanwhile, today is Ms. X's 24th birthday. No, I won't be there. Truth be known, we've always just been friends...... I've tried, but she's not dumb enough to fall for my bullshit. She's taking a sabbatical from Mike Reino again right now, and hopefully focusing on school - at least she better be... It's happened before, so I'm used to time without Princess.

Last year, I spent so much for her birthday that the person she was dating called me at 4AM to complain. Guess I deserved it, which is probably why I'm not around for this year's birthday. Above all, she is a friend. She's told me once or twice that she's not a good person, but I disagree. I still think you are SO COOL....All that aside, I didn't go overboard this year. I did buy one gift that was $20, and the other was free.....

Let's play a game today....... Guess what the free gift is. Here are a few clues:

1. Like I said , it costs nothing.

2. It's only good for a few weeks, then it's no good.

3. It's smaller than a breadbox.

4. It has NO monetary value.

5. Everyone should have one, but they don't use it.....

6. The only time most people use it is in November - if ever.

Happy Birthday, Ladies !! No picking on me today...

Tina Fey Nails Sarah Palin ... Uh, I Mean...

Not much to say here. I'll let the video do the talking. In case you missed it, here is the SNL clip from this weekend, in which Tina Fey returned to take a stab at Sarah Palin. She joined Amy Poehler doing her Hillary Clinton, which is only decent, to join together in the battle against sexism - although from different angles...
I heard Michael Phelps was on too.......

SC6 Remembers Rick Wright of Pink Floyd...

If you grew up around my time, you went through your Pink Floyd phase. We all did. Sure, some of us liked to turn the lights out, flip on The Wall, and get stoned to it. But, some of us knew them before we were freshmen in college (the advantage of having older brothers), and we appreciated the endless talent of Floyd. For 40 years, the band turned out some of the most complex, innovative and asskicking music that has ever been recorded. Now one of them is gone...

Floyd pianist Rick Wright passed away from cancer today at the age of 65. No details were given by his family, as they wished. It's a bit ironic that he died today. For starters, I had no idea he was ill. Secondly, I was thinking about things lately, and Pink Floyd came up, and I am almost convinced of something: I am Pinky from The Wall.....

Seriously, I mean it. I was raised by an absentee Dad (emotionally if not physically), and a Mom who overprotected me from the world, although she meant well. My marriage fell apart because I was always unavailable for my wife (Is there anybody in there?), and since then, I've built a shell around myself where no one really seems to know me, just a little. I have lots of acquaintances, but few friends - and it's pretty much my fault. And tell me Ms. X isn't just like the groupie he dragged back to the hotel, and then trashed everything, leaving her screaming for cover. I just caused less damage....

But I digress. Work was a total bitch today, and I'm a bit less than chipper. To pay tribute to Rick, here is an example of his best work - a live version of "Great Gig In the Sky" from their 1973 classic, "Dark Side of the Moon".... Shine on, you crazy diamond. I know, that's about Syd.

Can Your Dog Call 911 ?? This One Can.

They Actually Train Dogs To Do This Now......

Say hi to Buddy. OK, it's not really Buddy - it's some other German Shepherd I found a picture of. He's an 18 month old dog , and he's one special dog. He was trained by a school to assist his owner for any emergency, and it paid off this week.

Buddy's owner suffered a head injury in the military ten years ago, and he occasionally suffers seizures, so when it happened, Buddy went into action.... He knocked the phone off the hook , DIALED 911, and barked and whimpered on the phone. At that point , the 911 operator noticed a post, indicating that he was trained to dial 911, and he stayed on until the ambulance got there, five minutes later. Pretty amazing, eh?

Yep, that old Rin-Tin-Tin is a real hero, but he should be used to it - this is the 4th time he's assisted his owner this year. If you want to see more about him, here is a clip:

Seven Weeks Til Election Day, And This Is What They're Talking About ??

McCain and Obama Teams Slug It Out - Stupidly......

Yeah, the picture has John McCain with the legs of a black man, and it has Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali's signatures on it. Clearly, this guy needs PhotoShop... But it does serve a point for us today.

Did you ever have a job where you knew you didn't do anything of importance, but you had to make it look like you were working to justify the expense? Me neither, but there appear to be plenty of people at the Obama and McCain camps that do... How do I know? By the pile of crap ads they've been punching out lately..

Yep, Team Obama clearly was caught offguard by McCain selecting Sarah Palin - still not wishing you had picked Hillary or Kathleen Sebelius? You should..... So, they've been spending every available second attacking Palin, and trying to refute every possible claim she made during her big speech at the GOP Convention.

Team McCain has been pretty busy too, making sure that you know Barack Obama isn't fit to lead, that he will raise every conceivable tax possible, and maybe he's Muslim. You say the Muslim thing doesn't work? I get e-mails on from people I know almost everyday. Yeas, we are in that little slow period after the conventions and before the debates. It's a bit like when you just finished having sex, and you should just go to sleep, but instead, you decide to talk about 'things'. Not that I know anything about that....

What i'm trying to say is where are all the positive ads? Where is 'Morning in America'? Here's what these guys should be doing.. For Obama, lay off Sarah Palin for a while. It's obvious you guys got rooked, but the allure should wear off a little bit soon - just like it did with you guys... Remember?

As for McCain, let's start getting on message, and talk about what you are going to do some here. Yeah, we still want to know exactly what you are going to do if you become President. You know how I know you policies? From watching Katie Couric last week. I'd rather hear it from your side.

There's 50 days left fellas, so let's get the act together, and tighten the ships up here. You CAN run a positive campaign and still win. Trust me - I think I saw it happen once or twice...

It Isn't Easy Being a Carolina Fan...

That Is One Dedicated, Long Suffering Booty.....

It's not too often that I comment on a football game afterwards, but yesterday's Carolina-Georgia game was a really strange one... Penalties, clock malfunctions, goal line fumbles and interceptions. As snakebitten as Carolina's football team has been in the past, they seemed to find new and more frustrating ways to lose.

I'm not a die-hard Gamecock fan. I wasn't born here, so I can usually see them impartially. They always play Georgia tough, but some games get away from them. I picked it 20-7, so when it was 14-7, and they were on the 2 yard line, I thought maybe I got this one wrong. 'How are they gonna blow this one?' is what I was thinking - as do most Gamecocks fan - it's just a natural thought process... But WOW, they really took it to a new level yesterday...

So, how do they get to the upper echelon of the SEC? I hate to tell you, but they may never. You may want to start beign friends with Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Mississippi State fans, because South Carolina likely will always be in the middle of the pack. Geographically, the state and the talent pool is just smaller than Georgia, Florida or Tennessee, so there are less players to pick from.

Making matters worse, they have to battle not only Clemson for recruits, but other schools in the conference as well. They need a second receiver to complement Kenny McKinley, and who was the best receiver on the field yesterday? Georgia's AJ Green... Where is Green from? Summerville..... Oops! Guess that one got away too.

Still, the Gamecock faithful continue to sell out every game at Williams-Brice every weekend. It's still the biggest game in town, and there are other reasons to show up on Saturday....

Ain't Football Great ???

Time For Another Do You Know This Person...

We've introduced you to a lot of people that you've seen, but never really known here at SC6 - The Planters Peanut Lady, Enzyte's Smilin Bob (RIP), The Nirvana Pool Baby, and Flo from Progressive. Today, we bring you Mo Mellady........ Who?

Yes, she looks like an ordinary woman, but trust me, you've heard her voice plenty of times on television. For four years now, she has been the voice for a cartoon character in commercials for a particular company...She's kind of a superhero - by helping people save money. And she has a sidekick/boyfriend ? But she does other things as well. She works as a DJ, and she runs Planet Check, a company that makes radio ads updating you on the environment 5 times a week.

Here's your answer: Thanks, Bobby.

And here's her own website:

Maybe she'll get this post, and tell us more about herself... Hey. it's worked before.

Eight Days Later, I Finally Find Scooby's Owner.

Scooby's Home at Last, Safe and Sound......
Good news today... The seemingly endless saga of where Scooby's mystery owner Brandy Dewitt finally ended today. He's back home with his owner, and just in time, because i think Ben was getting ready to keep him. One smelly dog and one cat is enough right now....
If you need a quick update, Ben's superhot friend Sarah brought him by last week during TS Hanna for a day or two. He had a tag with the name Brandy Dewitt and a cellphone number that was from Cheraw, so when calls to the number weren't returned, all we knew was that someone in Forest Lake Apartments lost their dog...
I let the two of them try to find Brandy, but nothing came of it, so today I took it upon myself to do the legwork. It took all of five minutes..... One White Pages search, and I had her address and a phone number, although it was disconnected. So, in the car hopped Scooby and I, and as soon as I got to the apartment building, he ran to the door. "Scooby !!!!" Was the first words out of her mouth, and it was all over. I know that when I lost Tigger, I was pretty bent out of shape, so it made me feel good to end her week of "what if?"....
So, how did Scooby get out? Well, it had started raining, so they let him out by himself, and off he ran..... It was that simple. But he's back home now, where he belongs- with his owner. And I'll admit, i feel pretty damn good about finding his owner. See, I can be a nice guy sometimes !!

Time For College Football Pick 'Em...

Clemson Gets to Feast On NC State... The Gamecocks ? Well..............
College football is now in full swing. Clemson has a tuneup game today against NC State before it's big matchup versus SC State - sorry, I almost got that out without laughing... Moye is really worried about losing that one next week. The big game game today is the Carolina-Georgia game. The Gamecocks pulled off the upset on the way to their 6-1 start, uh before the floor fell out from under them. Georgia has recovered nicely, with a Number 2 ranking nationally. So, how will they end? Find out now....
Clemson vs. NC State:
Remember the second half of the Carolina-NC State game? Expect more of the same. State hasn't shown much this year. Yeah,, they're 1-1, but the beat I-AA William & Mary - not exactly a powerhouse. Clemson is hitting on all cylinders yet, and the ACC is famous for any team losing at any time, so it will be intresting for a bit, before the Tigers pull away. Clemson 31-13.
Georgia vs. South Carolina:
I think some people still are mad at me for giving away the tickets to last year's upset in Athens.... Yes, the Gamecocks usually play the Bulldogs tough, regardless of record. However, Carolina ruined Georgia's season last year, so this game is marked for revenge by the Bulldogs. That, and Georgia has too much talent this year. This game reminds me a lot of last year's LSU game. Carolina's D will keep it close, but eventually, a late Georgia TD will seal the deal, so I'll use the same score as the LSU game. Georgia 20-7.
Also, not that anyone cares, but Southern Cal beats Ohio State, 34-13. The BCS game FINALLY gets to leave the Buckeyes out - and lets East Carolina in - GO PIRATES !!

SC6 Cracks the Secret Service : Code Names For the Candidates !!

They Call Cindy McCain WHAT ???!!!!!

At the risk of having my passport revoked (like I'll be leaving the county anytime soon), or being sent to Guantanamo Bay and having things shoved in my poop chute, I have gone deep within the most enclosewd of the US Security structure - the Secret Service. If you can keep a secret, I will tell you what everyone wants to know - the Secret Service's code names for all the Presidential candidates....

Promise you won't tell? Okay, I'll spill the beans - after all, no one reads this blog anyway....

John McCain - "Phoenix"

Is this because he's from Arizona, or because last year, he was left for dead?

Barack Obama - "Renegade"

Either he owns one of those Jeep Wranglers, or he's a big Rage Against the Machine fan..

Cindy McCain - "Parasol"

I don't think I've ever seen her flying by a parachute of the back of a boat.... Oh, PARASOL !! Ever see her with an umbrella? Me neither.......Don't ask, I have no idea.

Michelle Obama - 'Renaissance'

It's one of two possibilities: She thinks she the new Jackie Kennedy, or it's for when the last time she was proud of America..... Yes, I said it !!

Sarah Palin - 'Denali'

After the National park in Alaska - not the car, and not the Ice Cream - although Denali ice Cream kicks ass....

Todd Palin - 'Driller'

I hope it's because he works on an oil well, although if I were him, I'd be drilling soemthing else 65 hours a week too. Yep, I said it again.....

Joe Biden - 'Celtic'

Ooooohhh, big surprise, he's Irish !! Maybe they could have called him Bailey's, or I still think 'Sam the Eagle' is more appropriate.....

Mrs. Biden - ' Sn...AAAAGGGRRRHHHHHH !!!!!'

This blog has been temporarily closed down by the US Secret Service until further notice.

Special Agent Kowalski.

Time For Another SC6 Rewind: Mojo Nixon !

Mojo Nixon, Back in His Heyday in the Late 80's...

Maybe you've heard this before..... Remember when MTV played videos ??? Back when I was in college, MTV had just started alternative programming. Remote Control , Rock the Vote, etc. , but mostly it was still about videos, and they even made a few stars of their own...

One of them was Mojo Nixon. His goofy looks, and zydeco rockabilly style was a great change of pace from Cinderella and Bobby Brown videos. Sure, it didn't last for long - Mojo is still around, but you can probably get him to play your birthday party for about $250 bucks. But he definitely had his 15 minutes. Here's his hit video, "Elvis Is Everywhere".....

We Remember September 11th - In Many Ways..

The Pentagon Memorial Is Unveiled Today.....

As we all know, today is September 11th - the 7th Anniversary of the most tragic today in our lifetime.... It was good to see Obama and McCain get away from the ridiculous sniping that has plagued the last few days of the campaign - if only for one day. While most of you think of this only on today's date, 9/11 means a lot more to me than just the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. Today is my dad's 84th birthday. He's still kicking, although the walk is very fragile, and he is definitely showing his age. By the way, Mom and Dad's wedding day is November 22 - the day of the Kennedy assassination, but 11 years earlier.. They didn't plan this stuff, it's just a weird coincidence......

It was also one year ago today that I completely screwed up my life, although some would say that I was on that track before Sept. 11, 2007, it just peaked on that day. I got mad at work, blew my stack, and ended up 'walking off' my $50k a year job. The past 366 days were largely spent grasping at straws, both professionally and personally . However, I am home, and even though there are aspects at work that frustrate me, I do like working there, and when i have a problem, I discuss it like an adult now, and it gets fixed...

Personally, I am stuck a bit in limbo right now. I have discovered the truth about a lot of things this month, and I'm cool with everything, but whether I am friends with everyone I care about remains to be seen. It's out of my control, so I am going on with life, getting back to where I was, and I'll see what happens. I'll say one thing though - life is a lot more fun with me in it !!

Lastly, the obvious. 9/11/01 . I don't think I posted about my 9/11 experience, so I'll do it now. It was very vivid and shocking. I was working at Florence Toyota, right next to Bobby at the service desk. The Today show was on TV, and they were showing the smoke from the first plane crash, but they thought it was a small plane. Just as we commented that it looked bigger than a Cessna..... in came the second plane. We knew America was being attacked.....

The hour or so between the crashes and the towers falling were crazy. Who did this? Why? All i thought about was all my friends who worked in Lower Manhattan, and if they were okay. Forget about calling - all the phone lines were jammed. Although I didn't know any of the victims, 11 people from my college died that day.... The first tower falling was like getting hit in the stomach with a baseball bat. I almost got sick, because I didn't know if anyone I knew was in there at that time. That, and I am a New Yorker, and in some ways, I always will be...

It's seven years later, and although Osama bin Laden is in hiding, we still haven't brought him to justice. Someday maybe... We took on Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, and then maybe we took a wrong step in getting into Iraq. Yes, they are free now, but whether Al-Qaeda was there is still debatable...

Soon, the memories will be more faded, and it will take on the appearance of Pearl Harbor, and JFK's assassination. Kids will start asking what it was like that day. Yeah, I'll remember 9/11, but I'll remember a lot of 9/11's.......Watch this tribute, and what I find striking is how united we were as a country that day. Seems like a million years ago now, doesn't it?

SC6 Rewinds a Classic Cartoon: The Ant and the Aardvark...

I'll Get You, YOU STUPID ANT !!!!!!!

You're probably asking, 'How did you get on the idea of an old cartoon from the 1970's?' It's kinda odd.... I was at work with Rick, and he was playing the Frank Sinatra Channel on Pandora radio, so naturally I start imitating Franco . You know.... "Hey Jack ! Me and Dino are tag-teaming Liza Minelli at The Sands in Vegas.....". Rick's a big Dean Martin fan (who knew), so I start doing my drunk Dean Martin impression, which naturally led me to The Ant and the Aardvark....

If you're no familiar with the cartoon, it was a between cartoon toon on the old Pink Panther show when I was a little kid. Dean Martin was the voice of the Ant, and Jackie Mason (the jewish guy from 'The Jerk') was the Aardvark. It was like Tom and Jerry, or the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote, but they did get along a little better - but not by much..... I used to watch this with my siblings all the time when we were little kids...

Enough explaining.... Here's a YouTube clip of the Duo...Enjoy.

Five Dollar Gas By the Weekend ????

No, this isn't the scene from my local gas station today, but it wasn't far off. I'm not one to fill my tank up in fear of prices rising tomorrow, but I really staved off a bullet today. The little yellow light came on last night, so I decided to get some gas after work.. As I passed two stations in West Florence, I was stunned to see the prices , $3.91 and 3.93 for regular unleaded !! Yet, I go a mile away to the south side of town, and it's $3.53, and finally, at the Kangaroo station around the corner from my house, it's still $3.49 - and all 21 pumps are being used, and ten other cars are waiting.....
It's happening everywhere.... Matt called from Hilton head to see if it was going on here too. The lady at the station there told him, "Fill it up - it's gonna be $5.00 a gallon by tomorrow." Is she kidding? We'll find out this weekend....
In case you feel like you jeans are a bit tighter today, that's not it - you're being gouged..... I'm not sure who, you're being gouged by someone. Need proof? Look at oil prices.. Despite Hurricanes Gustav, Hanna and now Ike, oil prices continue to slowly drop, down to close to $100 a barrel. Yet gas goes up 50 cents in a day? It looks like the middlemen in the processing of oil to gas are bending us all over the trash can again... I'd ask Moye to explain this, but we don't talk about our jobs here on the blog anymore, right??
Just when we thought this mess was all over, we get dragged back in... Maybe it will blow over when Ike makes landfall like 100 hurricanes just like him have before, and nothing happens..... Let's hope so..

Good Thing the Guy Wasn't a Porn Star..

Israeli Airport Security - They Don't Screw Around......
Ever go through airport security overseas? I have, and it is no picnic.. My butt still hurts 16 months later from that stopover in Frankfurt...... Well, they have nothing on Israeli security. Who can blame them? When your country is the target of nearly every terrorist group around, you can't be too careful...
It is well-known that they target people by name, with an emphasis on those with Arab names. Enter Abdur-Rahim Jackson....... Jackson is a member of the famed Alvin Ailey Dance Company. How famous is the group? Even I know who they are. Jackson is black, but he is not Muslim - his dad was, but he is not religious, and is even engaged to a Jewish woman with relatives in Israel. But, when your name is Abdur-Rahim whatever, you are going to get pulled....
No one with the airport security believed he was a dancer, so they made him prove it -by showing them some steps - not once , but twice. They suggested to him that he change his name as well. Jackson is taking it all in stride. He did get an apology from the airport, and that was enough for him. Good Sport !! But he should be used to it by now.... He had to do the same thing in the Dominican Republic during a vacation.. Like I said, good thing he wasn't a Porn Star, or he might still be stuck in Israel.....

Has Anyone Seen My Dead Wife ?

Did Anyone Order a Dead Lady From New York ??

I'm sure this isn't the first time this has happened, but it's always unbelieveable when it does... A man in New York had his wife pass away from cancer, and per her wish, her body was to be shipped to her native Ecuador for burial..

The local funeral home made arrangements with American Airlines to send her body home. It didn't get there for four days, and what a ride it had !! It seems the whole problem stemmed from an American Airlines employee didn't type in Guayaquil, Ecuador - he typed in Guatemala City, Guatemala. OOPS !!!!

Needless to say, the husband is suing both American and the funeral home, although I don't see the home's culpability in this mistake. However, Judge Reino's ruling are not recognized in court - yet. I imagine the trip she took was quite unbelieveable. If only the dead could talk...

.

But Can the Jewish Strippers Stay ??

Life Down South can be pretty strange sometimes. We have this large Christian contingent, which is very conservative. Then there is a part of it that is trying to break out of that shell, and show people of other diverse cultures how nice life in the South can be.....
First, the conservative end. You my have heard of the battle between the city of Lavonia, Georgia and Cafe Risque . It seems that Cafe Risque's owners deliberately decieved the city into what exactly was going there It was supposed to be a restaurant - they were going to call it "Skeeter's Big Biscuits". Then the counter and tables went out, and the bar and dancing poles went in.....
After years of battling, the city finally won out - by paying over $1 million dollars for the property - almost 1/3 of Lavonia entire annual budget. But, the locals seem pretty happy about it - until the tax bill comes.. They had a nice bonfire with the big "XXX" sign in the yard. And they all lived happily ever after.....
A few hours down the interstate, sits the city of Dothan , Alabama - known as the Peanut Capital of the World !! With a title like that, it may not surprise you that a lot of the younger Jewish kids are skipping town, and moving to larger cities like Atlanta and Birmingham. Temple Emanu-El Synagogue in Dothan has lost half of it's membership - it's down to 50 families now. But, fear not - they have a plan.......
If you're a practicing Jew, you come to Dothan and stay in the church for five years, and they will give you a cool $50,000. I might be changing the blog to Yarmulke Today, right after I get there....If you're interested, Dothan wants you to know that crime is low, the people are real nice, and they're only 80 miles away from the Florida beaches. Sounds like someplace I know - except for the crime.
Some things change, some stay the same, but all of this left me wondering one thing. I bet somewhere in Lavonia, there is a suddenly unemployed Jewish stripper in search of a new start. How much is the cabfare from Lavonia to Dothan anyway ????
.

Is Kim Jong Illin' ??

I still like the 'toon version of him from "Team America" more than any actual picture of him... So, has Kim Jong Il had a stroke or not? Who knows for sure, but when you aren't seen in public for a month or two, things will get sketchy.
How can they clear all the confusion? Well, he could show up - like when Jim's friend Fidel finally showed up in his red jumpsuit. Maybe Il is really sick, and if he recovers, he'll pick an idiot relative to succeed him too. How do you think he got the job???
Of course, there is the serious matter of a country getting eerily close to having nuclear missles losing it's leader. Will they get someone even more off-kilter, or will we get lucky? Your guess is as good as mine....

McCain Bumps Up In the Polls, But Is It Enough?

John McCain's Wet Dream.........
It's been a week since John McCain picked Sarah Palin as his VP choice, and the bump appears to be in full steam ahead mode - especially with women. It makes me wonder two things: what if Barack Obama had picked Hillary Clinton or Kathleen Sebelius, and secondly: guess the old adage that a VP choice is inconsequential just flew out the window. Where McCain was a sturdy nine points down last week, this week, he is dead even to up as many as four points. The biggest advance? A twenty point swing with white women voters.
Okay folks, this is all good news, but it's time to pee on the bonfire here a little... While McCain is doing well in the national polls, how about the thing that really matters - the Electoral College? I know, I know.... THE WHAT ???
Ask Al Gore what means the most in an election - the popular vote or the electoral votes - and he'll tell you, it's the electoral votes. Winning states is what matters, which is why no one has given much of a crap about South Carolina since January - we're going for McCain. End of story.... But as good as the news is for McCain is, in the electoral map, he has still not been shown as the winner in any scenario so far. The closest one I've seen so fra is from NBC's Chuck Todd, who has Obama with 211, McCain with 189, and about 110 up for grabs.
Granted, if McCain-Palin keeps the momentum, eventually some of these states will roll over to the GOP. But there is still a lot of ground to make up. That, and until McCain can crack the 50% mark, there is no cause to feel comfortable in a November win right now. Obama is having his worst week yet, and it is starting to show, but he certainly isn't losing at this point.
.

Green Polar Bears ??

Happy St. Patrick's Day ??
Nope, you're not seeing things - that polar bear is green. How does this happen? Is this an exotic Irish Polar Bear? No bottle of Bailey's is seen, so that can't be it. Did a kid go ape shit with a box of crayons? Not it either............
No, the three normally white polar bears truned green from swimming in a pond overgrown with algae at the Higashiyama Zoo. It seems that high temps in July and August, and a less frequent water change of the pond caused algae to explode in the pond. That algae gets stuck in the hollow spaces of the polar bears fur, and they're having trouble getting it out. So, the green bears will be around for a little longer....
I've seen this before - in people. Growing up, there was this kid, Scott, who had white-blonde hair, and everytime he went in the swimming pool, his hair turned green. Yes, we picked on him. Such is childhood. Last I heard, he was sleeping on a park bench. I kid. I'm sure he's fine.... But enjoy the bears while they still have the luck of the Irish....
.
