Time to Play 70's , 80's Or 90's ......

SC6: Where Good Cartoons Go to Die ..

We always noticed that our Sunday Morning staple, Cartoon of the Week, did pretty well with the hits. It's gotten to the point that people now send me political cartoons all the time. So, to fill up the slower days (aka, where I'm too tired from work to blog), we'll drop one in here and there for you...
Remember..... you can't use a knife or widget to take your Obama bumper sticker off - it scratches the paint job.

Better Change That Slogan to "I Can See Rupert Murdoch's Office From My Backyard.'
Palin Joins Fox News ......Quit Staring At 'Em !!!
Ahhhh, PhotoShop is Great...... No, that's not hers - it's her head on a Porn Star's body, and no, I didn't do it, so don't sue me. Yep, it's official - Sarah Palin will be a commentator on Fox News. Good for her... Hopefully, this will end any talk of her running for President. Also she'll be sliding into the Number 30 spot on my Fox Hotties List, behind (in alphabetical order) Alicia Acuna, Julie Banderas, Shannon Bream, Patti Ann Browne, Alisyn Camerota, Gretchen Carlson, Cheryl Casone, Jamie Colby, Domenica Davis, Janice Dean, Jill Dobson, Ainsley Earhardt, Harris Faulkner, Courtney Friel (my fave), Lauren Green, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Molly Henneberg, Laura Ingle, Megyn Kelly, Molly Line, Martha McCallum, Michele Malkin, Dagen McDowell, Heather Nauert, Reena Ninan, Uma Pemmaraju, Caroline Shively, Jane Skinner, and Lis Wiehl. I guessed and thought there would be 27, but I guess Fox snuck a couple in on me....
So, Caribou Barbie and I are gonna be in New York at the same time - I smell Destiny. Better get that resume ready for the intern job. I can hear it now.... 'HEY MONKEY BOY, SHAKE A LEG AND GO GET ME A DOUBLE MOCHA-FRAPA...... THE CAFFEE WITH ALL THE CHACKLATE AWN IT !!!!! YOU'RE DARN TOOTIN, YA BETCHA !!!! I can't wait......

Larry Grooms Throws In the Broom ...

Word out of Bonneau Beach is that Sen. Larry Grooms is ending his campaign for Governor of South Carolina - and we lose another one of our candidates. Yes, the Reino Curse is long, and has many victims. Not that our endorsement of Larry was the Kiss of Death. His candidacy was a longshot to begin with, and his campaign caught about as much traction as the banana peel tires on my '74 Camaro in the snow.....
We liked Larry's candor, his availability and honesty, but mostly we loved his passion for being Governor, and for seeing things change for the better here. He was the only candidate that squarely put the blame of our state government in the hands of his own party. That takes guts, but it does come at price. We love our candidates to be honest, but the powerbrokers who still pay the bills love bullshit artists....
Our last wish? That Larry passes on running for Congress -although it would be cool to be able to say that I was at a Congressman's house once. That time I got the Cease & Desist order at Jim Clyburn's gate notwithstanding.... There is plenty of work to do in Columbia, and right now, I think Larry would best serve there. Kudos for trying, for helping me decide who I wanted to win, and for not sticking around too long.....

Derek , NOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!
Yankees Star Decides to Buy The Cow?? No Offense, Minka ....
See, even people who are the best in their field aren't always smart. Word from the new York Post that Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is going to - GULP! - marry his longtime girlfriend, actress Minka Kelly. Aside from his reputation as one of baseball's best players, Jeter had a ex's list that any man alive would kill for, among them: Mariah Carey, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Tyra Banks, Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima and former Miss Universe Lara Dutta.
Apparently, he doesn't listen to Alex Rodriguez, because we have no doubt that A-Rod would love to sit down and discuss the advantages of single life to marriage for baseball players. Jeter probably would reply with the standard 'Yeah, I've done all that. Now I just want to settle down.' We'd like to send him the clip from 'City Slickers' where they're talking about the Kellogg's Variety Pack.... But when you're in love, you don't listen. Jeter and Kelly are supposed to wed November 5th at the super exclusive Oheka Castle in Huntington, Long Island (they just did that Jonas Brother wedding). Good Luck, Derek. And Minka - don't Yoko Ono my Yankees !!!!
Speaking of City Slickers, here's my favorite clip - I couldn't find the Kellogg's Scene.. For those of you who didn't know, Billy Crystal's kid in the scene is Jake Gyllenhaal....

SC6 Fake News: Blogger Offers to Debate Congressman - With One Condition...
In a half-hearted attempt to raise the social discourse between the Democrats and Republicans, SC6 Blogger Mike Reino put forth a challenge/offer to 6th District Congressman James Clyburn's office to debate the House Majority Whip on the issues affecting the district that cover the Pee Dee and Lowcountry. However, Reino did put one stipulation for a not-so-subtle way of jabbing at Clyburn......
Reino will only debate Clyburn if he is allowed to wear an 'I'm With Stupid' T-shirt at the event. To avoid any failure to begrudge Clyburn, he also stated that Clyburn must sit to the right of Reino, and that the camera be focused to show both candidates from the midsection up.
Clyburn's camp has not officially accepted or rejected the offer, but a staffer speaking on the condition of anonymity, suggested that the SC6 blogger wear a different T-shirt to the event....

If I Were Bob Inglis, I'd Be a Little Insulted ..
He Is Still a Congressman and a Republican, Right ???
Funny observation of the Day.... I got an invitation to the Grand Strand Young Republicans 2nd Annual Birthday Bash today. The guests of honor are listed as 'The Members of South Carolina's Republican Delegation to the US House of Representatives - Henry Brown, Gresham Barrett and Joe Wilson". Is someone missing from there ??
Now I know, many of you out there don't consider Bob Inglis to be a Republicans anymore - or ever. Or maybe he wasn't invited because he most likely will be voted out in June. If you go by that standard, the only one who will be in the House come next January will be Joe Wilson. There is also the possibility that they asked, and he decline to attend - but that still wouldn't make the guests the entire delegation. Yeah, I'm splitting hairs here, but I did find the snub a bit odd...
If you would like to attend, it will be at the Robert L. Reid (no, not Mr. Brady - that was Robert REED) Conference Center at Springmaid Beach Resort at the Carolina Ballroom in Myrtle Beach. Tickets will be $25 a head with a cash bar, and you must pay ahead of time for an accurate head count. Since it will be in South Carolina, NAACP members are still encouraged to not attend.....

It's SC6's 4th Annual NFL Playoff Picks ....
Carson Palmer and the Bengals Check Out Early ..... Again.
I'll be the first to admit it - I don't do such a great job in picking football games. I run hot and cold, but this year, we've had plenty of time to watch the teams, and we think it'll be a little easier this year - at least in one conference.
In the AFC, there are only 2 good teams and neither is palying this week. Indianapolis has looked super all year, and all San Diego does is win, which comes in handy come playoff time. All the teams this are playing for is the right to get their butts kicked by Indy and San Diego next week.. The NFC will be tougher. The Saints have looked more Aints lately, and Minnesota forgot how to win until they pounded an overrated Giant team (yes, my G-Men sucked this year). I think this will be a 2007 type , low seed winner again. Anyway, onto this week's picks....
Jets at Bengals
Well, I gave this one away already. In the three rematches of last week's thumpings, this looks the easiest to pick. We like the Jets, not because Mark Sanchez is a better QB than Carson Palmer, but because he's got a better team. Yeah, Rex Ryan was talking out his a-hole when he said the Jets should be favorites to win it all (Rex, the Colts GAVE you that win), but they do have the better running game and defense - and that wins in January. Sanchez plays small ball, and the Jets prove the 37-0 game was no fluke. Jets 20-10
Ravens at Patriots
With the weather expected to suck, we could be in for a low scoring game. One team can't score, but th other can't stop anyone. What do you do when that happens? Bet on the team that can run. Ray Rice and Wills McGahee make a pretty good tandem, and Wes Welker's injury has left Tom Brady with no one to pass to, except Gisele Bunchen, and Julian Edelman. Randy Moss will see the ball, but he's not the 10 reception guy Brady depends on. Joe Flacco again shows all he does is win. Ravens 23-17
Packers at Cardinals
Aaron Rodgers kicks butt. I know, I had him in fantasy football this year. Having the road game is probably better for the Green Bay offense than playing at cold Lambeau Field. The Packers have a real good chance to go all the way this year. They have the defense and even the running game has improved just in time for the playoffs. As for the Cards, Anquan Boldin is very iffy, Kurt Warner is getting older- oh yeah - the Pack slammed them 33-0 on the same field just last week. New Week, same result - not even close. Packers 34-17
Eagles at Cowboys
Both teams will lose. At least if I had my wish, they would. Up until last week, I had the Eagles pegged for the Super Bowl. Donovan McNabb has all the weapons this year, but they are playing in Dallas again, fresh off of a 24-0 smackdown. Tony Romo seems to have forgotten that it's December and January this year, but we have a couple tidbits that we're betting on: first, the Boys have beaten the Eagles twice, and beating the Birds three times is tough. Secondly, the Eagles are usually decent in the playoffs, and the Cowboys..... what is it? 1994? Should be a good game though. Eagles 30-27.
Yes, I picked 4 road teams. No, I have no idea why..............

Happy 75th Birthday To The King ....
Hey, Who Put Elvis Costello In My Elvis Presley Photo ???
It's Friday, and rather late at that, so we're going to have a day without Politics... First off, Happy Birthday to the King Of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. Today, he would be 75 - and I dread thinking about what he'd look like if he were still kicking. I imagine something like Buddy Hackett's blue-eyed brother...
Living in a black majority district, I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge Elvis for stealing the black man's music, and bringing it to the masses. Master stroke, my good man.... Here is a fine example, and on eof my favorite Elvis song's , 'In the Ghetto'....
