Junk Mail: Do I Live In Greenwood All of a Sudden?
What a Way To Go...
Time for another one of those stories, except this one isn't really all that funny, just strange. Don Doane of Ravenna, Michigan was like a lot of people in Michigan. With it's brutally cold winters, Bowling is the biggest sport. I was in a league for a couple years, and I had a 145 average - I never developed a strike ball, but I was pretty consistent. The great thing about bowling is that it's one of the few sports you can drink while playing, without seriously inuring yourself...
Don was a bowler for 45 years for the same team at Nutt Farms, and on October 16th, he was on fire. In the 10th frame, he bowled the last three strikes to record his first ever perfect 300 game. He was high-fiving his teammates in celebration, when he suddenly collapsed and died at the age of 62....
Wast the stress, the excitement or the beer and chili dogs every Friday night at the snack bar ?? I don't know. I once bowled a 199, which was my high score, so I have no idea what kind of pressure you feel when you are on the verge of perfection - unless you consider the perfection that is SC6.... But, no doubt Don was doing the one thing he loved when he passed on. That's why when I die, I want to be at my desk in the Service Department, with 50 pissed off customers and whiny technicians all yelling at me - just the way I like it.....

Too Much Politics This Week? Here's a Clip to Remind You of Love Instead..
SC6 Endorses Jim Clyburn ? WTF ??!!!
The Fish Fry Shirt Reminds the Kingmaker What His Name Is....
Yes, the world is coming to an end.... Forget about Barack Obama being a sign of the Apocalypse. This is the sign. I'm endorsing Jim Clyburn for re-election. Sort of. Not really sort of.....
If you think that your Congressman reaching a more powerful position is of utmost importance, than you need to vote for Jim Clyburn. If you can't realize that the primary job of the Majority Whip is to focus on passing legislation of your own party, then vote for Clyburn. If you can't realize that a Congressman who spends all his time doing that instead of working on his own legislation isn't really representing you, then vote for Clyburn.
If you like your Congressman to quote Bible verse, but go home every night to his favorite drink (Jack & Diet Coke), then vote for Clyburn. If you like your Congressman to talk about what a great Christian he is, then fund abortions and support every Pro-Choice candidate on the planet, he's your guy - Your Hypocrite.
So, am I really endorsing Nancy Harrelson. Sure. Granted, she has not been the perfect candidate. She is very rough around the edges. Her public speaking needed work, not that I am one to teach her. When you talk about your policies and beliefs, and people can tell you're reading your lines, it hurts your credibility. Gary McLeod was a kook, but at least you know he believed in everything he said. Also, I think her FairTax support is so 2004... It's a scam that benefits wealthier people, and most people know it.
But , Harrelson has done a decent job otherwise. She has hit the pavement. She has spent money. Soemhow, she got the SCGOP to actually give a 6th District candidate a spot on the podium, and a picture on the official ballot. Is she the best fathomable candidate I could dream of? No, but she did shake things up a bit.
Will she crack the 40% barrier that might give the GOP serious consideration in the future? This year, I doubt it. Female or not, 2008 is the year of Obama, and every African-American in the 6th District will be out in force. This year, Clyburn cracks 200,000 total votes - thus giving him further belief that he is a political juggernaut. Just pray he becomes Transportation Secretary, so he'll be out of our hair - only to be replaced by his daughter. Then it starts all over again......

Obama's Infomercial: Bad Move?
I didn't watch Barack Obama's 30 minute infomercial last night. I spent all night at band practice, and after not enough sleep, I had a bear of a day at work today - but it'll be nice come bonus time. So, how does a guy blog on something that he didn't watch? Easy. He lets the others to the analysis for him.
I got online and on TV today, and there was a lot of criticism about Obama's show. CBS and Yahoo had a lot to say about it, and not much of it was good. In short, it was long on promises, and short on financing. So, like most politicians, Obama is telling what he'd like to do, but isn;t sure on how to pay for it.
There are estimates that Obama would increase Federal Spending by about $300 Billion a year, and he'd fall $90 Billion a year short in paying for it. Guess that $10 Billion a month we'd save by leaving Iraq won't pay for everything...
Health Care savings, Universal Health Care, Spending Cuts and the deficit - all were poked and prodded by even the mainstream media, and found to be unrealistic.. With just a few days to go, one has to look at this in hindsight and wonde if this was a bad move. There are some advantages to a debate. It does make you not exaggerate - as compared to an infomercial or a stump speech.
I doubt it will cost him the election, but funnier things have happened. I found a clip from a previous election, where the shoo-in for the job almost blew a 99.8% lead in the polls with a bad speech.....Here's the clip:

Where Are They Now ?? An Update of the Stars From Elections Past..
Is This the Good News McCain Has Been Waiting For? Probably Not..
Today, we had some good news/bad news in the stock market. We've finally gotten back to the point where stock prices rise and fall based on actual economic data... The news today was that the economy did slow down in the 3rd Quarter, but not as bad as was predicted. The Gross Domestic Product dropped at an annual rate of .3%, where it was estmated at .5% annually.
Let's really dissect what I just said there for a second. The total value of all goods and services was .0075% less than from the previous quarter - and 40% smaller than 'experts' guessed... Our economy is so spolied that we all cry a river when it doesn't grow 5% annually. Yeah, we have challenges, but for those of you who think we're a whiff away from a Depression - you have no idea what you're talking about.
So, since John McCain gets all the blame for our economic problems, shouldn't this good news help him? Shouldn't we give credit to McCain for it? Okay, maybe not.. You know you're reaching when a drop in the GDP is viewed as good news. As for Wall Street, how did they react to an overall drop in the economy? It went up 100 points.

Life After The White House: Condi Rice a 49er ?
Can Republicans and Democrats Fall in Love ??
The couple that votes together stays together, right? Maybe , maybe not.... I read a bit of an odd article on MSN today, where a lady thought about dumping her boyfriend because..... he's....a..... GULP! .......a REPUBLICAN !!!!! And she's an Obama fan. How will it ever work????
You know, if you look hard enough, you can find something to wedge any two people from each other. But, politics seems to be the easiest. That and sports. I could NEVER date a girl who was a Red Sox fan...... Like I give a crap.
Not that I haven't experienced this from both sides. I did have a girl tell me "I couldn't go out with you - you're a friggin Republican." And I suppose she was right, because we never went out. Then again, I did go out with a Red State, superconservative, gays are gonna go to hell Republican - and it was a disaster. So, does it really matter? Or is it just me? Don't answer that, dammit !
I don't know about you, but for all the publicity that I get from politics, I rarely talk about it. Why? Because I'm generally a non-confrontational person. And I do respect other people's opinion - and their right to be wrong. So, in my opinion, if you are dating someone because of their politcal beliefs, you are nuts. There is much more to life, and more important reasons to NOT date someone - like being a Carolina or Clemson Fan. Right, Moye ?

Obummer.... The McCain Camp Gets More Bad News This Week..
The Economic Stimulus II: More Proof That Washington Knows Nothing About the Economy.
Why would I post on the same topic just a couple days after one another? Because Congress, and particularly the House Democrats, are hellbent on spending another $300 Billion to 'fix the economy'. Now, if they are going to spend that cash, and they are truly concerned about jumpstarting it ASAP, then they are full of crap. Here's why...
Congress wnats to get this stimulus done before George Bush leaves office. Dont' take my word. George Miller (D-CA) said "It almost appears that nothing can be done fast enough." Why? Well, they say it's to get the recovery ball rolling as quick as possible, but really it's all politics.
By wrapping this up in the next week, the Democrats - who have been the ones in control of Congress for the past two years - can pile it on as the agents of change. I'll agree with everyone - we are in a recession, albeit a small one. However, passing this today or two moths from now doesn't matter much. It all takes time to enact it....
So, if Congress wants this to take effect ASAP, the best way would be to send a second round of rebate checks, right? Wrong. Congress wants to spend it on infrastructure projects. Bridges, roads, schools, etc. Some might be needed, but many of them are likely pork projects. I've chatted about the stupidity of Pork, before, so I will talk specifically about the speed of it's effect solely today....
If Congress is looking to quickly get the economy rolling and making the lives of Americans better in 2009, infrastructure porkjects are not the way to go. Pork needs funding, then all the porkjects need to be bid on, then assigned, then built. Ask Earl for an estimate on the lag time between a decision on building a project, and the time it actually starts. Need an example of it? Remember Florence County's Penny Tax? It was passed tow years ago, and none of the projects are completed, and even the first project has had funding issues...
The theory is always that roads, bridges, etc. produce more jobs than just the construction jobs themselves, and it is true. But, i do find it interesting that Democrats endorse this theory. Infrastucture stimulus is really a variant of Trickle Down Economics - except that you swap the private sector with the government. Hmmmmmm.....
Not if, but when Congress decides to blow more taxpayer cash, rebate checks are still the best way to inject the money into the economy quickly.. If they want to cap it off to avoid the money not being spent, then don't send checks to taxpayers who make over $100k or $150k a year. Anywhere you live, that is solid upper middle class. They are not suffering. Let's not be stupid with the money folks. But , we are talking about Congress here........

Erection 2008: Oops, I Crapped My Mouth. The Daily Show's 'Gaffe In".
Santa Has a Christmas Gift For You...$2 A Gallon Gas by December ?
What the latest price on Magic Feed Corn, Santa ? I'll try to pick you guys up a bit again. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but gas is dropping like a stone right now - and it's gonna keep dropping. Why? Because you're not using gas as much as you used to.
Crude oil prices for December delivery dropped another $3.69 a barrel on Friday, down to $64.15 . Americans are driving 5.6% less than they were a year ago - a whopping 15 billion miles less driven per month. As we have all learned from ReinoEcon 101 numerous times here, lower demand leads to lower prices. OPEC is trying to stem the tide by cutting production, but they're not stupid - they still have to make it or they go broke. It will take a bit longer for prices to drop , but Hurricane Season is over, so there will be no refining hassles like in August and September.
I would not be surprised to see $2 gas sometime in December. No, this will not change your life - unless you drive 2000 miles a week like Bobby does. But, I can tell you that the $20 I drop in the tank in my car got me about 2 extra gallons of gas this week than it did on the last tank. I might not even have to get gas this week. Nice........
Of course, the downside is that we are driving less because the economy is in the dumper a bit, but we were due for it, and a little belt tightening to get your financial house in order is good every once in a while...

SNL's Latest Clip... Will Ferrell Returns as Bush.
I Smoke Two Joints For Breakfast....
Pot. Weed. Chiba. Grass. Ganja. Buddha. Cannabis. Chronic. In fact, I found a website that has 3750 names for it... We're talking about smoking marijuana today. I'm an expert at it - especially since I haven't smoked pot since 1989... Being notoriously cheap, I never bought it, except for chipping in with others.
I know a lot of people who swear by the stuff, and they're not just kids. I know some guys in their 50's who toke up as soon as they get out of work. Life can be stressful, and for some, it calms them down a tick or two. Personally, I never got that much out of it. I just got real quiet and stupid. I once spent ten minutes in a poison ivy field looking for a softball - five minutes aftre the ball was found by someone else. Another time, I almost froze to death while walking back to the dorm in a foot of snow.... That's when i decided to quit.
I ran across this article in AskMen.com about pot smoking. The writer is surely Pro-Smoking. I'm not sure how accurate his info on the article is: pot promoting creativity, only affecting short term memory. But I know that there are millions across the country who believe it. And is it incorrect? I quit taking meds a year ago, and I found a drnk at the grocery store that trims my brain out real nice. I suppose there are non-medicinal ways of treating stuff. Anyways, here's the article...
http://www.askmen.com/sports/health/20_mens_health.html
Last week, I saw a segment on 'Manswers', where they asked the most effective way to smoke weed. I always thought a bong was best, but now they have something called a Vaporizer - not the thing that you use for the little kids. At least I don't think so. I never even heard of this, so I pulled this clip up. It's a guy making a homemade vaporizer from a light bulb.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEiJaHlUpyE
My first thought was what could this kid accomplish in the real world if he tried. Salt to remove the white filament? Instead, he's using his brains to invent more ways to get stoned. Too bad. Maybe he works on Wall Street or owns a successful business , but this is what many people think of when they think of Pot Smokers..

Brad Pitt smoking pot in a Honey Bear container !! I still think of this scene everytime I hear Soundgarden's 'Outshined'..... So, what the heck am I saying?? Like most posts, I have no idea, or I forgot.... And I wasn't even high.

As If Things Couldn't Get Worse For McCain...
Who Is This Chick Living With Me ??
It's a bit hard to tell from the picture - damn glossy paper- but the pamphlet maileed to me from House candidate Barry Wingard is addressed to Julie Dutton and Michael Reino. No, I have NO IDEA who Julie Dutton is....
Maybe she used to live here, but I know the people we bought the house from were named King, and the people before that had another name. One can only assume that either Wingard misread the Voter Vault rolls he obviously was copying from for mailers, or Julie Dutton is one of those thousands of "missing persons" magically showing up on the registered voter list across the country. ACORN strikes again. Maybe Rocket or Snickers registered to vote, and they forgot to tell me...
Then again, maybe I have a wife or girlfriend, and I didn't even know it. No, I didn't think so either... But it would be cool. Yeah, she lives here sometimes - when she's not shooting swimsuit ads for Sports Illustrated. I can see it already............
