Junk Mail: Do I Live In Greenwood All of a Sudden?

Who the HELL Is Floyd Nicholson ???
With all the junk mail we've gotten this election season, you might not even notice that some of it wasn't even for you. Well, thanks to the genius factory that is the SCGOP, I'm on the mailing list for their Anti- Floyd Nicholson campaign.
Not that I knew this before, but Nicholson apparently is the Mayor of Greenwood, SC. At least I think he is. Florence is approximately 125 miles and 3 hrs driving (I've been there, and there is NO direct way to Greenwood). Why would the SCGOP get involved in a local race? Why Floyd Nicholson? How did I get on their Greenwood list? Does this mean I'm registered there too? The answer to all of these is 'how the hell do I know?' I can't even get a call from a local candidate - I'm not even involved this year.....
Since I now was obligated to not support Nicholson, i decided to find out about him - and boy did I ! This guy is a real scumbum... A total turdbucket.....A complete - ah, just check it out....

What a Way To Go...

Time for another one of those stories, except this one isn't really all that funny, just strange. Don Doane of Ravenna, Michigan was like a lot of people in Michigan. With it's brutally cold winters, Bowling is the biggest sport. I was in a league for a couple years, and I had a 145 average - I never developed a strike ball, but I was pretty consistent. The great thing about bowling is that it's one of the few sports you can drink while playing, without seriously inuring yourself...

Don was a bowler for 45 years for the same team at Nutt Farms, and on October 16th, he was on fire. In the 10th frame, he bowled the last three strikes to record his first ever perfect 300 game. He was high-fiving his teammates in celebration, when he suddenly collapsed and died at the age of 62....

Wast the stress, the excitement or the beer and chili dogs every Friday night at the snack bar ?? I don't know. I once bowled a 199, which was my high score, so I have no idea what kind of pressure you feel when you are on the verge of perfection - unless you consider the perfection that is SC6.... But, no doubt Don was doing the one thing he loved when he passed on. That's why when I die, I want to be at my desk in the Service Department, with 50 pissed off customers and whiny technicians all yelling at me - just the way I like it.....

Too Much Politics This Week? Here's a Clip to Remind You of Love Instead..

Suffering from Election Fatigue ?? No doubt. So, we here at SC6 are taking a minute away from all the political drama to try to give you a good laugh -without ragging on Barack Obama or John McCain. At least for a minute of two.
I got this clip from Heather. It's a clip of that most odd of events in life - The First Wedding Dance. That strange mix of Nerves, Xanax and Alcohol that usually causes you to lurch around like Frankenstein to the strains of "Open Arms" or "Still the One". Well, this couple decided to go a step further.... or maybe 50 steps further.
I gotta say, for a chubby guy, he gets around a dance floor pretty good - not as good as Rerun from 'Whats Happening", but still pretty good... HEY, HEY, HEY !!!
.

SC6 Endorses Jim Clyburn ? WTF ??!!!

The Fish Fry Shirt Reminds the Kingmaker What His Name Is....

Yes, the world is coming to an end.... Forget about Barack Obama being a sign of the Apocalypse. This is the sign. I'm endorsing Jim Clyburn for re-election. Sort of. Not really sort of.....

If you think that your Congressman reaching a more powerful position is of utmost importance, than you need to vote for Jim Clyburn. If you can't realize that the primary job of the Majority Whip is to focus on passing legislation of your own party, then vote for Clyburn. If you can't realize that a Congressman who spends all his time doing that instead of working on his own legislation isn't really representing you, then vote for Clyburn.

If you like your Congressman to quote Bible verse, but go home every night to his favorite drink (Jack & Diet Coke), then vote for Clyburn. If you like your Congressman to talk about what a great Christian he is, then fund abortions and support every Pro-Choice candidate on the planet, he's your guy - Your Hypocrite.

So, am I really endorsing Nancy Harrelson. Sure. Granted, she has not been the perfect candidate. She is very rough around the edges. Her public speaking needed work, not that I am one to teach her. When you talk about your policies and beliefs, and people can tell you're reading your lines, it hurts your credibility. Gary McLeod was a kook, but at least you know he believed in everything he said. Also, I think her FairTax support is so 2004... It's a scam that benefits wealthier people, and most people know it.

But , Harrelson has done a decent job otherwise. She has hit the pavement. She has spent money. Soemhow, she got the SCGOP to actually give a 6th District candidate a spot on the podium, and a picture on the official ballot. Is she the best fathomable candidate I could dream of? No, but she did shake things up a bit.

Will she crack the 40% barrier that might give the GOP serious consideration in the future? This year, I doubt it. Female or not, 2008 is the year of Obama, and every African-American in the 6th District will be out in force. This year, Clyburn cracks 200,000 total votes - thus giving him further belief that he is a political juggernaut. Just pray he becomes Transportation Secretary, so he'll be out of our hair - only to be replaced by his daughter. Then it starts all over again......

Obama's Infomercial: Bad Move?

So, Which Way Will The Deficit Go In Your Plan ??

I didn't watch Barack Obama's 30 minute infomercial last night. I spent all night at band practice, and after not enough sleep, I had a bear of a day at work today - but it'll be nice come bonus time. So, how does a guy blog on something that he didn't watch? Easy. He lets the others to the analysis for him.

I got online and on TV today, and there was a lot of criticism about Obama's show. CBS and Yahoo had a lot to say about it, and not much of it was good. In short, it was long on promises, and short on financing. So, like most politicians, Obama is telling what he'd like to do, but isn;t sure on how to pay for it.

There are estimates that Obama would increase Federal Spending by about $300 Billion a year, and he'd fall $90 Billion a year short in paying for it. Guess that $10 Billion a month we'd save by leaving Iraq won't pay for everything...

Health Care savings, Universal Health Care, Spending Cuts and the deficit - all were poked and prodded by even the mainstream media, and found to be unrealistic.. With just a few days to go, one has to look at this in hindsight and wonde if this was a bad move. There are some advantages to a debate. It does make you not exaggerate - as compared to an infomercial or a stump speech.

I doubt it will cost him the election, but funnier things have happened. I found a clip from a previous election, where the shoo-in for the job almost blew a 99.8% lead in the polls with a bad speech.....Here's the clip:

Where Are They Now ?? An Update of the Stars From Elections Past..

We Know Where Gary Coleman Is, But Where Are Quayle and Perot?
Now that we're a mere four days until Election Day, rather than finding out the latest from another Brady Bunch reunion, I found an article from Yahoo that keeps you up to date on those superstars from those previous elections: Ross Perot, Dan Quayle, Gerri Ferraro, Katherine Harris and Bob Dole.
Yeah, it sounds like a guest panel for Hollywood Squares, but hey, they all had their moment in the sun... Anyway, it has to be better than this reunion...
AARRRGGHH!!!!!! Here's the link to the article....

Is This the Good News McCain Has Been Waiting For? Probably Not..

Yes, The Economy Is Still Sliding, Just Not That Badly... Yet.

Today, we had some good news/bad news in the stock market. We've finally gotten back to the point where stock prices rise and fall based on actual economic data... The news today was that the economy did slow down in the 3rd Quarter, but not as bad as was predicted. The Gross Domestic Product dropped at an annual rate of .3%, where it was estmated at .5% annually.

Let's really dissect what I just said there for a second. The total value of all goods and services was .0075% less than from the previous quarter - and 40% smaller than 'experts' guessed... Our economy is so spolied that we all cry a river when it doesn't grow 5% annually. Yeah, we have challenges, but for those of you who think we're a whiff away from a Depression - you have no idea what you're talking about.

So, since John McCain gets all the blame for our economic problems, shouldn't this good news help him? Shouldn't we give credit to McCain for it? Okay, maybe not.. You know you're reaching when a drop in the GDP is viewed as good news. As for Wall Street, how did they react to an overall drop in the economy? It went up 100 points.

Time Is Short, So Here's a Quick Election Tale.

Sorry for the lack of posts tonight. I'm still working by myself at the office - although I am kicking some major butt right now. Now it's off to band practice, which Im not looking forward to. There's too much going on this week.....
Today, i got a little poem from a GOP buddy. It's modeled after 'Twas the Night Before Christmas', but it's about Barack Obama. You get the point......
'Twas the night before elections* *And all through the town*
*Tempers were flaring* *Emotions all up and down!* **
*I, in my bathrobe* *With a cat in my lap*
*Had cut off the TV* *Tired of political crap.*
** *When all of a sudden* *There arose such a noise*
*I peered out of my window* *Saw Obama and his boys*
** *They had come for my wallet* *They wanted my pay*
*To give to the others* *Who had not worked a day!*
** *He snatched up my money* *And quick as a wink*
*Jumped back on his bandwagon* *As I gagged from the stink*
** *He then rallied his henchmen* *Who were pulling his cart*
*I could tell they were out* *To tear my country apart!* **

*On Fannie, On Freddie* On Biden, and Ayers*
*On Acorn, On Pelosi'* *He screamed at the pairs!*
** *They took off for his cause* *And as he flew out of sight*
*I heard him laugh at the nation* *Who wouldn't stand up and fight!*
** *So I leave you to think* *On this one final note-* *IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM* *GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!*

Somehow, I don't think it's enough to change things..........

Life After The White House: Condi Rice a 49er ?

No Wonder They Stink... Hire a Football Guy, Not Secretary of State ..
Here's a sign that the econpmy is pretty bad right now.... Outgoing Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (damn, that is hard to spell !!) is in negotiations with the San Francisco 49ers football team to take a job in their front office. Talk about taking a step down the ladder.....
Granted, it's still a way better job than I've got, but she's Secretary of State, for Pete's sake! I'd think she'd rather just take a gig at some corporation's board of directors. However, Rice is a huge football fan. She did once say her dream job would be NFL Commissioner, and she is in the running to be director of the NFL Players Association - is she qualified for that job either? Beats me.
That's OK... I heard Dick Cheney is trying out to be a Radio City Music Hall Rockette.... Merry Christmas !!!
.

Can Republicans and Democrats Fall in Love ??

Republicans are Red, Democrats are Blue....

The couple that votes together stays together, right? Maybe , maybe not.... I read a bit of an odd article on MSN today, where a lady thought about dumping her boyfriend because..... he's....a..... GULP! .......a REPUBLICAN !!!!! And she's an Obama fan. How will it ever work????

You know, if you look hard enough, you can find something to wedge any two people from each other. But, politics seems to be the easiest. That and sports. I could NEVER date a girl who was a Red Sox fan...... Like I give a crap.

Not that I haven't experienced this from both sides. I did have a girl tell me "I couldn't go out with you - you're a friggin Republican." And I suppose she was right, because we never went out. Then again, I did go out with a Red State, superconservative, gays are gonna go to hell Republican - and it was a disaster. So, does it really matter? Or is it just me? Don't answer that, dammit !

I don't know about you, but for all the publicity that I get from politics, I rarely talk about it. Why? Because I'm generally a non-confrontational person. And I do respect other people's opinion - and their right to be wrong. So, in my opinion, if you are dating someone because of their politcal beliefs, you are nuts. There is much more to life, and more important reasons to NOT date someone - like being a Carolina or Clemson Fan. Right, Moye ?

SC6's On the Ballot: To Drink or Not to Drink on Sunday in Flotown ??

If Your Russian is Weak, It Says "Baltica Beer - No One Here Gets Out Alive."
This year, there aren't just candidates on the ballot November 4th. There will be another initiative vote, but unlike the Penny Tax two years ago, this one will not voluntarily cost you money. It's a vote on whether to allow alcohol sales on Sunday...
In case you didn't know it, Florence County doesn't allow alcohol retail sales from midnight Saturday until Monday - which is why you never can find Earl Capps in Florence on Sunday. As effective an Earl deterrent as it is, there are a lot of people - led by the local hospitality groups - that would like to see some extra duckets come their way on God's day.
Now, I'll preface this by saying a couple things. I like beer. I like wine. I like a nice Gin & Tonic while I listen to my Sammy Davis Jr. records and smoke a fat stogie, yelling "Cha-boing, boing! Cha-boing, boing" all the while.... And yes, I have gotten caught in the Sunday no beer famine once or twice. When I first got to SC, i invited everyone to my house for football. I went to The Pig, grabbed a case, and got stonewalled at the registered. I called all my buds to gather whatever beer they had in their fridges - and no one showed up...I ate Chicken- Broccoli casserole for a month.........
However, for the most part, I don't have a problem with not beign able to buy beer on Sunday. I don't know if it's a ploy by the religious right to make sure that the parishoners aren't hung over for Sunday Service - or some interpretation of the Bible applying to it. Enter your favorite quotes from Leviticus here..... There are some people who look at Florence as ass-backwards for having rules like this, but I find it charming. It's what makes us still a bit small-town.
I am a bit of a Libertarian when it comes to personal freedoms, and this law doesn't totally apply to that argument. You can drink on Sunday still, and if yo want to go out for a beer, join a club with a private membership. There are only about 50 of them in town. This vote is - like most things - is being pushed by a few select businesspeople who are trying to tell you that your rights are being violated, who end up profiting from it. Also, I don't know the statistics on automotive deaths from 8am to 12 midnight Sunday, but I imagine they are lower during that time.
Personally, I have a very tight schedule on Sunday, and drinking isn't one of them. I have enough co-workers who can't show up for work on Monday with the law as it is..... I will be voting no. But, if you disagree, I don't blame you. Just don't do anything stupid afterwards....

More Bad Timing for McCain.. Stevens Is Guilty.

The Grinch Who Stole Your Tax Dollars, And The Only Pork Project He Didn't Vote For..........Or Did He? I Forget....
When it rains, it pours..... Just 8 days left til Election Day, and John McCain can't catch a break. He just got a cherry on top of his Shit Sundae with the news that Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska was found guilty of seven counts of making false statements on is financial disclosure forms in reference to improvements made on his home that he..... didn't, uh..........pay for.
I've posted on this previously when it broke, so the verdict is no surprise. I said it before then - Ted Stevens is exactly what is wrong with Washington, and what went wrong with the GOP. Good riddance. I'm not an expert on this, but i think that Sarah Palin can now yank his ass out of his Senate seat, and put in someone with restraint and honesty. Maybe herself. Wouldn't that be interesting?
Anyway, this just adds more to the sideshow that has dogged John McCain since Labor Day. what else can go wrong. This just in......... John McCain has just stepped in dog shit in the middle of a gold mine........... and his penis fell off. Here's his new campaign theme song - or at least his wish for just one day between now and November 4th...

'Cause Everyone's Crazy 'Bout a Sharp Dressed Skinhead - Except Obama...

Skinheads Plan to Assassinate Obama.....Dressed in Tuxedoes ???
Like any organized group, Skinheads must really go crazy when they hear stories like this that make them look really bad. Two guys who claim to be Neo-Nazi's were arrested last week for plotting to go on a killing spree that would start at a black majority high school in Tennessee, and culminate in assassinating Barack Obama - all while wearing white tuxedos and top hats... All together now - WTF ?????
Yep. A guy from Tennessee , and one from Arkansas were planning to kill 88 black people - 14 by decapitation - during a national killing spree, one that would end with them shooting the likely next president. All while dressed in white tuxedos. And top hats...Apparently, the numbers 88 and 14 have a big significance in the Neo-Nazi culture. I think they are big Lynn Swann and Pete Rose fans....As for the tuxedos, I picture this:
So, just how close were these guys to doing it? Not very... They had a rifle, a sawed off shotgun, and three handguns. Not exactly an arsenal there, but they were planning on robbing a local gun store to load up. They also has some nylon rope and ski masks with which to rob a few stores to raise the cash for the trip. So, they had no money, no real weapons, no solid plan......... but they had each other, and an Iron Will to succeed. The end plan was to speed into Obama's motorcade and shoot him. Not very well thought out... Kinda reminds me of two other people I know.
Like that........ except instead of two hot (yet a bit grimy) chicks, it was a pair of redneck skinheads. Doesn't carry the same gravitas, does it? The really scary part is that this is just the beginning... There are a slew of idiots just like this, who think that a black president is the end of life as we know it. Easy fellas ! The guys at the Secret Service are in for the four busiest years of their lives. Trust me - there are people way more financed and organized than these two putzes...
.

Here's a Good Example Why McCain Is Losing.

Whassup ????!! The McCain Team Gets Waxed in Advertising.....
We're only 8 days away from our new President.... and it looks like we know who that is going to be. Nothing is certain, but this is just about certain. I was told by a guy whose name rhymes with Squirrel Craps that Barack Obama was either going to win 40-10 states, or lose 40-10. No wonder Andre Bauer listens to him....
So, how did we get here? Well, there are a lot of different reasons, many of which we've discussed here, but let's delve into another reason, and give you a good example of it: the advertising. Not so much by Team Obama on thier own, but also from other sources. Take this one.... Remember the Whassup Guys from the Budweiser ads? Well, someone got them all together, and they did an ad of what their lives are like now..... Thanks to the GOP.
Pretty smart. One's unemployed, the other one has no health insurance, the third lost all his money in the stock market, and the fourth is stuck in a Hurricane... It's all thrown in the lap of John McCain - not that it's his fault. But, they have managed to make ads that are much more hip and commercial-like. McCain's ads are standard political advertising fare. It's almost like his camp pulled out a playbook from 2000, and phoned in the work. Honestly, do ANY of McCain's ads stick in your mind? I can't think of any.....
Does this have anything to show which candidate is going to be a better President? Nope, but it does matter. It's called entertainment... I'm not talking about having your convention in a Super Bowl atmosphere - that was all bullshit. But a slick and sharp set of commercials really goes a long way. Just ask my buddy, Squirrel......

On the Ballot: The Florence City Council Races.

Glynn Willis and Bobby Holland Get Our Nod at SC6...
Florence City Council will be a lot different after November 4th, and that shouls be a good thing. The development of the downtown area is going along at a snail's pace, and that needs to pick up. However, with the current economic slowdown, I don't expect any visible progess to be made until at least 2010. Mayor Frank Willis is gone, and word is that he's already moved to Columbia. Guess I was more right back in 2006 than I thought.....
For those of you waiting for me to make a pick on mayor, don't hold your breath. Honestly, I know so little about Rocky Pearce that I'm not making an endorsement either way. I'm sure some of you will be glad to donate your two cents in that one. Most Republicans are going for Pearce, so I assume he is in the Willis, Dem on the Outside-GOP on the Inside mold.... I've met Stephen Wukela on the road a few times, but I have a few concerns about his experience and his willingness to throw more cash at a School District that is pretty flushed with cash already....I'll let you make up your own minds.
Now, for City Council. I have a bit of a conundrum. There are four people running for two at-large seats, which means that all city residents get to vote for two of them. If I could wish for anything, I wish that Octavia Blaek and Steve Powers could take Ed Robinson and Billy Williams' seats tomorrow. They are imminently more qualified and talented than either current Councilmen. But..........
It'll sound a bit partisan, but I'm endorsing Glynn Willis and Bobby Holland for City Council. I'm more excited about Willis, partly because he's a new candidate, partly because I like the job he's done on the Planning Commission, partly because he's a big fan of the blog. Somehow, that hasn't cost him in the race yet !! Holland has done a good job, although a bit quietly. He attends the GOP meetings to keep us updated on issues. He knows the issues well, and has done a good job of keeping Florence's budget in line , without raising taxes like a drunken sailor....
So, why not Powers or Blake? I have some concerns about conflicts of interest with Powers. He owns S&W Printing , which is in the downtown area, so while he may know a lot about downtown development, he stands to profit a lot personally from it. Also, I read yesterday that S&W just got a big goverment contract job from John Spratt. Having a pollitician who profits from goverment business is not something I am comfortable with...
I've met Octavia Blake numerous times. She used to be a customer of mine, and I even met her during a meet & greet in town for - SURPRISE FOLKS - Andre Bauer. I did like her comment that a big concern for minorities is paying higher taxes. It almost floored me, but I liked to hear that. She is exactly what we need on City Council in Robinson's or Williams' seat. But she probably lives in District 3, which is 80% GOP, so she has to go for an At-Large seat, which still will put her in last place in all likelihood. Also, i am still a bit pissed at her husband, who was County Attorney, telling me that a zoning issue in my backyard was 'none of my business'. Hey, at least i'm being honest about it, so take that info as you wish.....
Again, I think the slate of candidates is pretty strong, certainly stronger than two of the incumbents. It's like the worst two guys got first round bye's , and the 4 best have to knock each other out to play with them. Someday..............

Looking Into the Crystal Ball: Your Next VP Will Be Pretty Poor...

If You Want an Average Joe/Jane in Office, You'll Get It for Veep...
As we continue to tell you what politics will be like before it happens, we hope that it helps you decide on how you vote next Tuesday. One complaint that many voters have is that we don't ever get to vote for soemone like us - someone that has been through a mortgage or having to make an actual budget. If you think Barack Obama or John McCain is that guy, think again. Obama has made millions of off his books, and we know McCain (or his wife) own more houses than I have underwear...... but if you want a middle class VP, you'll have it.
MSN money had a nice little article on both Joe Biden and Sarah Palin's financial disclosure forms, and neither one of thm would be considered rich. Upper middle class, yeah. Rich? No way. In fact, either palin or Biden will be the poorest VP in the past 32 years. That was Walter Mondale, who admitted he on was worth $77,000, and he wanted the job because 'I need the money'....... OOPS, but he won anyway.
Between Palin and Biden, their combined net worth is less than $1 million combined. When you compare that to Dick Cheney, Al Gore, Dan Quayle and George H. Bush, they are almost paupers.... The Palins make about $250 per year between Sarah's Governor's salary and Todd's salmon fishing, oil rig maintenance and of course, his snowmobile racing.. They own some individual stocks and some ETF's, but they have a mortgage on their house , and own two tracts of vacation land.
For someone who's been in the Senate for 35 years, Biden is pretty poor. He made about $300k last year from his salary and a book advance. He still has a loan that he's paying off for his kids' college tuition, and his investments are a retirement annuity, and a 401k. Pretty tame for a guy who's hitting retirement, but he will hit a major windfall when he hits 36 years in the Senate.
No, neither one of these two will need to get a loan from you anytime soon, but for a major player in Washington DC, either of these two will be about as close to you as you'll get. Biden ride Amtrak because he can't afford to fly. Palin carpools to hockey games with her sons' teammates. Sounds like a pair of Average Joe's to me....

On the Ballot: Who You Should Vote For..

SC6 Gives It First Endorsement... Florence Cty. Treasurer Dean Fowler..
With only ten days until Nov. 4th, it's time that we try to flex our political muscle and influence to help you decide on who and what to vote for on Election Day. Remember, these are our choices, so as independent readers and voters, you are obligated to do exactly as we tell you - just like Oprah does.......
Our first endorsement is for Florence County Treasurer. This one is probably the easiest choice you have to make next Tuesday. You need to vote for incumbent Treasurer Dean Fowler Jr. I've known Dean for about five years now. I've worked with him in politics, and I went to church with him , his wife Gail, and their kids for years as well. He is one of the few people in politics that I can say I actually know personally.
But what about his job performance? No problem there. The Treasurer's office was frought with contraversy when he took office. The previous officeholder had scandals all over the place, while his own property was undervalued to save on his tax bill. Not exactly model behavior. All that has ended under Fowler's term. His office has kept expenses in line, saving county taxpayers tons of cash on all major purchases...
For as great a job as Dean has done, you might think that he would get a free pass to another term, but that hasn't happened, and it probably never will. Why? Because County Council Chair Rusty Smith - a guy who has never kept a promise he ever made - doesn't like him. Why? because Dean succeeded Smith father as Treasurer. See, DC isn't the only place where guys go on vendettas to avenge their Daddy. But the competition has gotten weaker with every election.
Who is running for the Democrats? Leval Williams, a guy that Florence County had to fire for incompetence. Now he's trying to take Fowler down politically. Good Luck in whatever you're doing, because you ain't beating Dean. He's the only Republican ever voted in a countywide seat here, and he's done it twice. Why? Because Dean Fowler kicks butt.... Seriously, if you don't vote for Dean, you should have your head examined........
Talk about timing....... In case this post sounds too subjective, don't take my word for it. Here is a article from today's Florence Morning News, documenting Williams' screw ups as a tax assessor. I don't make this stuff up, folks....

Obummer.... The McCain Camp Gets More Bad News This Week..

Next Time, Don't Carve the 'B' Backwards in the Mirror, Sweetie.
When it rains, it pours.... The McCain camp continues to get bad news from places that they're probably not repsonsible for. The Wall Street bailout, George W. Bush backlash - now this.....
It seems that 20 year old Ashley Todd, a McCain volunteer from Texas working in Pennsylvania, said that she was attacked by a black 6'4" Obama supporter at an ATM machine, because she had a McCain sticker on her car. He blackened her eye, and cut a backwards 'B' in her cheek. Then, things started to go bad..
Well, it appears to be a fact that nothing happened, and that Todd made the whole thing up. A backwards 'B' (I guess for 'Biden' ?) was cut in her cheek looking into a mirror. They also showed that she didn't go to an ATM. They have cameras in those things, you know....
When you run against a black candidate, you don't make up stories about a black man beating you. This makes the GOP look like a new version of Susan Smith... Nice job, Sweetie. Twenty years of working for the party, and I have to defend myself from the actions of a girl who should be IN SCHOOL right now.... It's pretty obvious that anyone who has time to devote 24/7 to a politicla campaign has no life. Most people I know have lives, and are too busy to drop everything for this. Might I suggest she do the same.
So, how did she do this. I imagine this type of scenario going on at her local campaign office.....
I feel bad for John McCain. I hear accusations about him that have nothing to do with the guy. Either way, this clip may be more appropriate for him at this point......
.

The Economic Stimulus II: More Proof That Washington Knows Nothing About the Economy.

Barney Fwank, Uh Frank, and Co. Are Contradicting Themselves. Again.

Why would I post on the same topic just a couple days after one another? Because Congress, and particularly the House Democrats, are hellbent on spending another $300 Billion to 'fix the economy'. Now, if they are going to spend that cash, and they are truly concerned about jumpstarting it ASAP, then they are full of crap. Here's why...

Congress wnats to get this stimulus done before George Bush leaves office. Dont' take my word. George Miller (D-CA) said "It almost appears that nothing can be done fast enough." Why? Well, they say it's to get the recovery ball rolling as quick as possible, but really it's all politics.

By wrapping this up in the next week, the Democrats - who have been the ones in control of Congress for the past two years - can pile it on as the agents of change. I'll agree with everyone - we are in a recession, albeit a small one. However, passing this today or two moths from now doesn't matter much. It all takes time to enact it....

So, if Congress wants this to take effect ASAP, the best way would be to send a second round of rebate checks, right? Wrong. Congress wants to spend it on infrastructure projects. Bridges, roads, schools, etc. Some might be needed, but many of them are likely pork projects. I've chatted about the stupidity of Pork, before, so I will talk specifically about the speed of it's effect solely today....

If Congress is looking to quickly get the economy rolling and making the lives of Americans better in 2009, infrastructure porkjects are not the way to go. Pork needs funding, then all the porkjects need to be bid on, then assigned, then built. Ask Earl for an estimate on the lag time between a decision on building a project, and the time it actually starts. Need an example of it? Remember Florence County's Penny Tax? It was passed tow years ago, and none of the projects are completed, and even the first project has had funding issues...

The theory is always that roads, bridges, etc. produce more jobs than just the construction jobs themselves, and it is true. But, i do find it interesting that Democrats endorse this theory. Infrastucture stimulus is really a variant of Trickle Down Economics - except that you swap the private sector with the government. Hmmmmmm.....

Not if, but when Congress decides to blow more taxpayer cash, rebate checks are still the best way to inject the money into the economy quickly.. If they want to cap it off to avoid the money not being spent, then don't send checks to taxpayers who make over $100k or $150k a year. Anywhere you live, that is solid upper middle class. They are not suffering. Let's not be stupid with the money folks. But , we are talking about Congress here........

Erection 2008: Oops, I Crapped My Mouth. The Daily Show's 'Gaffe In".

Jon Stewart Discusses 'Pullin a Biden', and Other Goofs....
I'm glad I don't have a microphone in front of me 24/7. Hell, I have a blog that I can edit, and I still manage to write stupid stuff despite it. The Presidential candidates are no different. The Daily Show had a nice clip of it this week - what they called 'Gaffe-In'.
Joe Biden, Sarah Palin, Barack Obama and John McCain- none of them are immune from the occasional stump speech faux pas... Yikes, I just used French !! I better just let the clip do the talking for me....Before I say something stupid.

Santa Has a Christmas Gift For You...$2 A Gallon Gas by December ?

Of Course, Santa's Reindeer Don't Run On Gas..

What the latest price on Magic Feed Corn, Santa ? I'll try to pick you guys up a bit again. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but gas is dropping like a stone right now - and it's gonna keep dropping. Why? Because you're not using gas as much as you used to.

Crude oil prices for December delivery dropped another $3.69 a barrel on Friday, down to $64.15 . Americans are driving 5.6% less than they were a year ago - a whopping 15 billion miles less driven per month. As we have all learned from ReinoEcon 101 numerous times here, lower demand leads to lower prices. OPEC is trying to stem the tide by cutting production, but they're not stupid - they still have to make it or they go broke. It will take a bit longer for prices to drop , but Hurricane Season is over, so there will be no refining hassles like in August and September.

I would not be surprised to see $2 gas sometime in December. No, this will not change your life - unless you drive 2000 miles a week like Bobby does. But, I can tell you that the $20 I drop in the tank in my car got me about 2 extra gallons of gas this week than it did on the last tank. I might not even have to get gas this week. Nice........

Of course, the downside is that we are driving less because the economy is in the dumper a bit, but we were due for it, and a little belt tightening to get your financial house in order is good every once in a while...

Woman Waits 19 Hrs., Doesn't Get Treated.....And Still Gets a Bill !!

Now Serving Number 163..... Number 163 ??
Time for another one of THOSE stories that you guys love.... Hey, we aim to please. Last month, Amber Milbrodt broke a bone in her leg while playing volleyball. So, she went to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas - yes, the same hospital that JFK died in.. Apparently, it was a busy day, because she waited a pretty long time to get checked. After 3 1/2 hours, she finally got her vital signs taken, which puts her in line to be checked at the emergency room. Then she waited........and waited.........and waited.
Milbrodt spent an unbelieveable 15 more hours before she finally left Parkland and went home. She later had an x-ray done at the Chiropractic school where she is a student. You might think that it all ended there, but Parkland then sent her a bill for the visit for $162. Milbrodt says that bill will be unpaid for quite some time...
A 19 hour wait is nothing new at Parkland. Days before Milbrodt's disaster, a 58 yr old man waited 19 hrs. with stomach pains before he suffered a heart attack and died. Parkland says the charge is not for the wait, but for taking her vital signs - which takes about ten minutes. We all have nightmare doctor and hospital bills for bullshit. I have a $1200 bill for four office visits, with no diagnostics or testing at all.
As bad as doctor offices are, hospitals are worse. Unless you are unconcsious, I would recommend going to your doctor. But, I'm not a doctor - Although I play one on television....

I Didn't Approve This Message: Opie and The Fonz Endorse Obama...

I Guess Potsie and Ralph Malph Are Republicans....
More celebrity endorsements for Barack Obama today. This one comes from director Ron Howard, who you also know as Richie Cunningham from 'Happy Days' and Opie from 'The Andy Griffith Show'..
Howard takes a minute to dress up as both characters - soemthign he never would have done 10 years ago - and even gets Griffith and Henry Winkler to pull out their old characters as well. It's not his best work.... Howard speaks mostly in generalities and not specifics on what Obama will do. Personally, I thought 'A Brilliant Mind' was better....But, it is worth the three minutes..

SNL's Latest Clip... Will Ferrell Returns as Bush.

Trying to take advantage of all the heat from the Election Coverage, Saturday Night Live has been airing on Thursday's lately too. Will Ferrell returned to the show also to do his George W. Bush imitation. Is the clip as good as Sarah Palin's visit last week? Nope, but there are a couple decent spots... I'll let you decide for yourself. Unfortunately, the only place I could find the whole clip was on Huffington Post.....

I Smoke Two Joints For Breakfast....

Let's Talk About Something I Know Nothing About....

Pot. Weed. Chiba. Grass. Ganja. Buddha. Cannabis. Chronic. In fact, I found a website that has 3750 names for it... We're talking about smoking marijuana today. I'm an expert at it - especially since I haven't smoked pot since 1989... Being notoriously cheap, I never bought it, except for chipping in with others.

I know a lot of people who swear by the stuff, and they're not just kids. I know some guys in their 50's who toke up as soon as they get out of work. Life can be stressful, and for some, it calms them down a tick or two. Personally, I never got that much out of it. I just got real quiet and stupid. I once spent ten minutes in a poison ivy field looking for a softball - five minutes aftre the ball was found by someone else. Another time, I almost froze to death while walking back to the dorm in a foot of snow.... That's when i decided to quit.

I ran across this article in AskMen.com about pot smoking. The writer is surely Pro-Smoking. I'm not sure how accurate his info on the article is: pot promoting creativity, only affecting short term memory. But I know that there are millions across the country who believe it. And is it incorrect? I quit taking meds a year ago, and I found a drnk at the grocery store that trims my brain out real nice. I suppose there are non-medicinal ways of treating stuff. Anyways, here's the article...

http://www.askmen.com/sports/health/20_mens_health.html

Last week, I saw a segment on 'Manswers', where they asked the most effective way to smoke weed. I always thought a bong was best, but now they have something called a Vaporizer - not the thing that you use for the little kids. At least I don't think so. I never even heard of this, so I pulled this clip up. It's a guy making a homemade vaporizer from a light bulb.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEiJaHlUpyE

My first thought was what could this kid accomplish in the real world if he tried. Salt to remove the white filament? Instead, he's using his brains to invent more ways to get stoned. Too bad. Maybe he works on Wall Street or owns a successful business , but this is what many people think of when they think of Pot Smokers..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gGZAIFteAg&feature=related

Brad Pitt smoking pot in a Honey Bear container !! I still think of this scene everytime I hear Soundgarden's 'Outshined'..... So, what the heck am I saying?? Like most posts, I have no idea, or I forgot.... And I wasn't even high.

The House Is Getting Pretty Dangerous Lately.

Click, Click, BOOM !! The House Is Blown to Smithereens....
Yeah, it's another one of THOSE stories. I guess this stuff just happens everyday across America. Cindy and Jerry Curry of Billings, Missouri thought that they smelled gas in their house one day. But, the smell went away, and things seemed back to normal the next day.... That's when Cindy innocently went to turn on the TV with the remote control - and the entire house EXPLODED !!!
The blast was so strong that it threw Mrs. Curry out of the house, and killed two of their dogs and a bird as well. It seems that the remote control somehow ignited the propane still in the air, and KABOOM !! Somehow, she only suffered minor injuries, but the house is destroyed.... Speaking of Smithereens...

Let's List About the Political Stories That Don't Merit a Full Post.. It's SC6's Political Beef Stew !!

Looks Pretty Good......Come and Get It While It's Hot !!!!
Yep, time is running short, and there just isn't enough time to devote a full post to every political candidate's stance, ads, hairstyle, clothing, etc.... So, we're going to do a "Fuzzy Thoughts" like post to jab at some of the campaigns out there....
I saw Kenney Boone's first TV commercial on the evening news tonight. Meanwhile, Jimmy Gregg has gone from handpainted signs to printed ones finally..... The 1st Congressional District race is going full bore on TV. Henry Brown's first ad was TERRIBLE (zzzzz). The latest is better, but it still needs work. His opponent, Linda Ketner, finally got the memo that voters like a candidate that smiles AT LEAST ONCE in an ad.... That deer-in-the-headlights stare of hers freaks me out - but her ads make more sense. However, I have a hard time believing one's "Bipartisanism" when they personally donated $800,000 to Democrats only.....
The 6th District race is still low profile. Clyburn is sticking to his billboards and radio. Nancy Harrelson has her signs out, and she got free airtime on Channel 13 tonight. She's still a bit stiff. Take my word for it. One's believability drops when you are reading off a cue card. Also, she Fair Tax talk needs to be dropped.. That is so 2004 at this point. Nancy will be having a meet and greet Saturday in Edisto Beach. Just take Hwy 17 to 174 south......... and pray the Geechees let you pass through to the beach...
Earl has said that Bill McKown has raised a ton of cash in his battle against Dick Elliott - who still might be stuck on the side of I-20 if it weren't for Bobby. But Bill, what's with the old golf shirt?? Take $40 from the budget and buy a new one, and a t-shirt. No one votes for Man Boobs.....Meanwhile, since Lois Eargle is for Elliott, and they recruited Bob Conley to run against Lindsey Graham, is it safe to say that the GOP doesn't exist in Horry County. Maybe we should set up a State Infrastructure Bank just for them.....
Speaking of Lindsey, I will be voting for him in two weeks. Can the multiple postings of my "Lindsey Graham is Really Starting to Disappoint Me" post from 2006 please be deleted from websites that I've never even heard of?? It all ended with his office getting my passport in 24 hours..

Give It Up.. Your School Stinks !

The Search For The Best School Is Over........
I saw this on a customer's car this week, and I HAD to get the camera out... I'm sure exactly what the criteria was, or which other schools it competed with, but according to someone, Savannah Grove Elementary School in Florence is the Greatest School on the Planet.
So, throw out the SAT's and PACT scores, these guys have topped your and every other school on Planet Earth. However, there apparently is a school in Pluto that still reigns supreme over the galaxy......
.

Here's How Much Washington Is Spending On the Election .... Times a Billion !!

Damn.... That's a Lot of Cashish ..
Just in case you thought the budget was the only place that the candidates were spending a lot more this year, think again. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, spending is up this election cycle by 27% - totalling over $5 Billion. For an idea of how big $5 Billion is, if you lined up a dollar end to end, $5 Billion would extend from Florence all the way to Mars Bluff......... Wait, I mean Mars the Planet. Maybe somewhere in between there....
So, who is to blame for all this. Well, the Presidential candidates spent a total of $2.4 billion on their campaigns alone, led by Barack Obama raising a sickening $600 million. That is double the 2004 race, and triple the 2000 race. Last election cycle, the bar to run a entire campaign was about $100 million. For $600 million, Obama could buy a major sports franchise....
But hey, there are plenty of others to scold.... You can't ever forget about those PAC's... Every corporation and special interest group has to hedge their bets. Want a good laugh? The largest donating corporation was Goldman Sachs - the investment bank. The largest doanting association was the National Association of Realtors. So, is there any coincidence that the two biggest "emergency expenditures" were to save the Real Estate and Investment markets.. There are no coincidences, are there ??

Here Comes The Second Stimulus Package..

Time For More of the Other White Meat.....
Much to my chagrin and constant urging against it, Congress seems prepared to have a second stimulus package, which will put our nation even further into debt. A debt us and our kids will have to pay off.... Our country is going down the shitter, and it's getting there faster everyday..
Now, I wasn't a big fan of the first stimulus for the same reason. However, I did exactly what Congress told me to do: I bought a set of Goodyear tires for my car, which came in real handy, otherwise I might be driving on banana peels right now. The only saving grace from the first stimulus was that I got $600, and I got to choose what to do with it. Chances are we won't get to choose this time....
Now, i don't know if you were paying attention the first twenty times I told you guys this, so I'll tell you again... The government thinks that you are not smart enough to do the right thing with any funds. That is why you pay taxes. They are all much, much , much smarter than you are, and they know what to d with your money much, much , much more than you. Democrats really believe this... Either way, you are stupid, they are much, much , much smarter.....
Congress already gave you one chance, and you didn't fix the economy with that $600. It's all your fault, so now Congress has to save you from yourself - again. So, instead of just letting you take care of your needs, Congress is going towards 'creating' jobs - via infrastructure projects. AKA - PORK !!!!!!
Yes folks, expect your local congressman to be requesting a new highway or bridge to nowhere as soon as they can. BTW, the total cost is expected to be in the $300 Billion range - twice the amount they got for you the first time. Funny how that happens, eh? Even worse, is that EVERYONE is saying this is needed. From Fed Chair Ben Bernanke (see, everyone in Dillon is a Democrat), to economists and Federal Eggheads across the political spectrum.
Is this what the voters want? Nope. Channel 15 took a poll online, and 73% of all respondents said "Show Me the Money". Clearly, voters still think they know how to allot the money to help themselves in the best way. Silly kids !! They're so cute when they're stupid, aren't they ??

89 Year Old Lady Ends Up In the Slammer - And You Won't Believe Why...

Edna Jester had it coming........ The 89 year old lady from Blue Ash, Ohio had to be taken into police custody to settle a matter involving n item she allegedly stole. Namely, a football that her neighbor's kids threw into her yard.
Yeah, no one likes when kids go haywire and stuff ends up in your yard, but kids will be kids. Guess Edna forgot about that, because she refused to give the ball back. It's pretty safe to say that she and he neighbor aren't very - uh.. - neighborly, because Dad Next Door called the cops, and after they warned her twice, then refused a citation, they threw her in jail....
She's due in mayor's court next month, although it appears that she still hasn't given the ball back... That would make her Court Jester next month.. Sorry, I couldn't help it.

Put Me In Coach....

Walk-On Goes From the Stands to Kicking For Number 6 Texas Tech.
Here's an uplifting, dream-come-true kind of story to brighten your day. Matt Williams very well may be kicking for Texas Tech this Saturday against Kansas... The fact that the walk-on will be kicking isn't the suprising thing - that happens all the time. It's HOW he got their attention...
During halftime of the game against UMass last month, Williams kicked a 30 yd. field goal to win a free month's rent.... Coach Mike Leach saw it, and since his current kickers have blown six extra points and missed half of their field goals, he took a chance. Leach grabbed Williams out of the stands afterwards, and offered him a spot on the team. After practicing, it appears Williams is now game ready..
Pretty amazing, huh. It just shows you that you shuld always be ready, because you never know when or where your big break will come. This is the greatest out of the stands and into the game in college since this event back in 1986.......

As If Things Couldn't Get Worse For McCain...

Obama's Takes Two Days to Visit His Sick Grandma... And the World Mourns Right Along With Him....
When things start going bad, its hard to keep it from getting worse sometimes... Word came out today that Barack Obama is taking two days off to visit his grandmother in Hawaii. According to Obama's uncle, Madelyn Dunham is 'gravely ill' after breaking her hip from a fall earlier in the year.
It's not uncommon for these things to happen. A broken hip often leads to other ailments, such as embolisms . Maybe she is nearing the end, and Obama is stopping by to say goodbye , or just to check up on her before the very last days of the campaign come. After all, he's skipping trips to Wisconsin and Iowa - not exactly battleground states for him....
Is there anythign wrong with this? Absolutely not. What is disgustign is how the media was treating this. Good Morning America had it as their LEAD STORY.... They then went into another campaign story, and they had two guests on - one from each side. the first thing out of Diane Sawyer's mouth? "Please tell Senator Obama that we all send our best to him and his Grandmother. And my check is in the mail." OK, I made up that second part.
It's pretty bad when even the worst type of news works out as a positive for your opponent. If this keeps up, John McCain is going to have to amputate a testicle, and say he had a tumor.... Or maybe his Mom could start not feeling so well...

Who Is This Chick Living With Me ??

Who The Heck is Julie Dutton, And How Long Have I Been With Her?

It's a bit hard to tell from the picture - damn glossy paper- but the pamphlet maileed to me from House candidate Barry Wingard is addressed to Julie Dutton and Michael Reino. No, I have NO IDEA who Julie Dutton is....

Maybe she used to live here, but I know the people we bought the house from were named King, and the people before that had another name. One can only assume that either Wingard misread the Voter Vault rolls he obviously was copying from for mailers, or Julie Dutton is one of those thousands of "missing persons" magically showing up on the registered voter list across the country. ACORN strikes again. Maybe Rocket or Snickers registered to vote, and they forgot to tell me...

Then again, maybe I have a wife or girlfriend, and I didn't even know it. No, I didn't think so either... But it would be cool. Yeah, she lives here sometimes - when she's not shooting swimsuit ads for Sports Illustrated. I can see it already............
