Marcia Brady Was a Coke Addict?

Even Maureen McCormick Couldn't Deal With 'Marcia, Marcia,Marcia'...
Some people just can't handle fame and success as well as I do. Okay, I don't like even being in the paper anymore.. Imagine being on every TV in America as a teenager. I was asking Gary Coleman about it at the mall last week. He was the sales guy at the Sunglass Hut kiosk.......
Well, it turns out that Maureen McCormick , best known as Marcia on 'The Brady Bunch', had a really hard time with the fame as well. She tells all in her new book, "Here's the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice". Yeah, the title's a bit long..... But, after the show, she spent a decade with a serious coke habit, and even tells stories of trading sex for drugs, before finally getting sober...
Of course, she tells all about her romances too: all the dates with Greg Brady, and even dates she had with Michael Jackson and Steve Martin - that's a strange pair right there. Doing Coke and Qaaludes while suffering from Depression will cause you to make decisions like that....
Yeah, growing up as a kid in the 70's, I had a major crush on Marcia Brady.... So, i guess it's no surprise that everyone would try to take advantage of her, especially after the fame and money are gone. She's recovered pretty well lately. She's done a few shows on CMT, and she got in shape during a stint on "Celebrity Fit Club". See, it's never too late to turn your life around - even for Marcia Brady........

SC6 Sports Wrapup: Football, Baseball, and You Don't Screw With the Malocchio....

The Evil Eye Preys on Another Victim In Fantasy Football.........

It's been a pretty busy week in sports .... Clemson got rid of Tommy Bowden - whether he was fired or quit is your opinion.. Carolina will throw Steven Garcia right into the fire in his first start against LSU.. In Pro football, my Giants lost their first game - and a chance to go two game sup on Dallas and Washington. It goes to show, your team isn't as bad as you think, nor as good as you think..

In baseball, the Devil Rays go for a chance to go up 3-1 against the Red Sox tonight, and Bobby's backup team, The Phillies, are one game away from their first World Series since that dispicable 1993 series, where no one could get anyone out. Bobby uses the Phils as a backup, because when you're an Orioles fan, you need a backup....

Lastly, you may remember my mentioning the Malocchio , also known as the Italian Evil Eye. I used to use it alot whenever the Yankees were in the playoffs. It had been under mothballs for a while, but I broke it out this weekend , when I played Dave, the Wizard of Fantasy Football. The guy almost never loses, and was 5-0 this year - until the Malocchio got him on Sunday, when I stomped him by 32 points, and we're now tied for first place. I finally figured out that the Malocchio is like a Lithium Ion battery...... it needs to charge itself back up sometimes. I'll leav eit alone until we play again. After all, the Yankees don't need it....

You Want Half the House ?? You Got It !!

Hey, I couldn't go a day without a dumb news story.... We guys are pretty funny sometimes. Not haha funny, but vengeful, angry, do anything to get even funny.... Take Moeun Sarim for example.. The 42 yr old guy from Cambodia was getting divorced from his wife, Vat Navy, and it was ruled that they would split their assets 50/50, which included the house.

Well, Sarim did just that. He brought his family with him, and sawed the house in half, and took his half with them. It kinda reminds me of the Brady Bunch episode, where they taped off half of the house , and the boys had to stay on one side, and the girls on the other. Of course, the didn't bring in a slew of FUBAR tools and demolish the place - but they could have. After all, mr. Brady was an architect....

The strange part is, this is not an uncommon occurance. Google "man saws house in half" and see how many instances pop up. It happens all the time, everywhere.... So, for all those angry, scorned, out for justice guys with saws, here is a clip for you......

If I Leave Here Tomorrow....

No, Skynyrd Has Nothing To Do With This Post.........
Hey, just a quick heads-up to y'all... On Thursday night , I was blogging at home, when I noticed that my laptop was losing power. I looked at my AC adapter, which is hooked up 24/7, and I basically saw sparks and flames on the floor.....
Luckily, Bobby's wife has the same laptop, so i've been coming by every day to watch football, and drop a post or two. I have a new one on the way (good luck finding Dell equipment in a store), so the posts will be fewer than usual, or I might skip a day or two this week. I pride myself on having at least one or two readable articles a day for you, so I want to apologize in advance if I fail to meet expectations. Bob has been pretty generous with allowing me over the last few days, but everything has it's limits. So, you may have to find something else to read this week. I'm am thawwy....

This Is NOT What Voters Want to See...

Chris Wallace Sure Earned His Money This Morning....

I have this Sunday morning routine every week. I get up at 8 or 830 - it doesn't matter if I went out Saturday night, when you get up at 6AM five or six days a week, 8AM is sleeping late. I'll make breakfast, and sit down to watch Fox News Sunday. The opening guests usually are pretty partisan, but the panel at the end mostly tells stuff like it is. Well, today's guests at the beginning got me so pissed off, I was yelling at theTV, telling the two guys "Shut the F**k Up !!!". It was THAT BAD.....

Host Chris Wallace had McCain campaign manager Rick Davis, and Obama chief strategist David Axelrod on. Now , with two guys like that, you'll expect it to be a bit contentious. After all, they get paid to BS you. But even in times like three weeks before Election Day, there should be a certain amount of repect given to the other side. Let them make their point, right or wrong, then you get your chance to correct it, and make your point. That is why we watch Sunday morning news shows. If I wanted to watch people fight, i'd watch Spike TV....

Davis and Axelrod apparently haven't figured this out yet, because what happened was 9 minutes of two jerks trying to yell over each other, which resulted in the two of them looking like morons, and they wasted NINE MINUTES OF MY LIFE !! I could care less about Axelrod's behavior, but I'm really ticked at Rick Davis. I've seen Davis a few times now, and he is a pompous idiot who makes the party look bad. Even when he's right, you don't side with him because of his attitude. And he wasn't right much today. The Obama campaign doesn't need to apologize for something that Georgia Congressman John Lewis said. He isn't on the staff. Aside from that, i couldn't tell you a thing that was said between the two of them. It was THAT BAD...

The panel agreed. Bill Kristol, who is as Red State as they come, chastised Davis, along with the entire McCain campaign. And he's pretty correct. The economy is the issue here, and they decide to try to attack Obama personally? Dumb, dumb, dumb... Just about half of America thinks he is fit to be President, so when you attack him like that, you're telling half of America that they're idiots with no judgement. Republicans are supposed to be the calm, practical ones - not the fearmongering nutjobs....

Kristol has some solid advice.... Get McCain and Palin off the road on Sunday, and get them into the TV studios for 20-30 minutes. Let them show some stability, concern and intelligence on the issues. If the attack subject comes up, just say "I'm not here to talk about negative stuff, I'm here to answer America's concerns" and move on. Losing with honor isn't a bad thing. Losing with a scorched Earth is.....

Usually, you would have to take my word about how much it sucked, but thanks to the wonder of YouTube, the clip is already online. I guess someone else out there agrees with me....

Woman Sues Over Wrong Color Hair Dye...

Hey, I'm Not Picking On a Blonde I Know That Owns a Chihuahua, But.....
The stupid stories sure seem to be coming fast and furiously this week, don't they? A judge in Connecticut recently threw out a lawsuit filed by a woman who tried to sue L'Oreal for putting the wrong color hair dye in her box. I mean the box of hair color..... Thank God , there is one sensible judge in America.
Yes, poor Charlotte Feeney of Stratford says she can never return to her natural blonde hue, a shock that left her so traumatized she needed anti-depressants. She says she suffered headaches and anxiety, and missed the attention that blondes receive and had to stay home and wear hats most of the time. Join me now in saying "Gimme a Freakin' Break!!". If there was ever a dumber lawsuit, I haven't seen it. The lady couldn't even prove that she got the wrong color. Like walking through life as a brunette is a shameful occurence..
I say Charlotte should take Kid Rock's advice at the end of this clip from 'Joe Dirt'.

The Ten Most Contraversial Campaign Songs.. And They're All Republicans .

Why Is a Band From My Hometown On This List? Find Out Below...
Campaign theme songs have been around almost as long as there have been campaigns. The one thing you may not know is that most of the time, the songs used are hijacked without the artist's consent. You think Bono really liked John Kerry back in '04 ??
Yahoo had a neat little article on the ten best campaign song contraversies. Of course, it was written by guy my age, so most of them are from the past two decades. Perhaps the biggest surprise of all - or not a surprise - is that ALL TEN of the contraversies are involving Republicans.
Now, as an amateur musician, and Republican, this really doesn't surprise me at all. Most artists are pretty liberal people, who view their job as part entertainer, part social activist. Personally, I never went for the preaching, and I sure never tried to do it when I played... So, don't be surprised when Barack Obama uses anyone and everyone's music, and they don't complain, but John McCain can even use "Still the One" from Orleans, without getting called out. Of course, the singer from that band IS a Democratic Congressman. Someone needs to fire a staffer on that one.

Some Birds Just Don't Want to Be On TV.....

No, No Kid... It's Good Luck - In Guatemala.......
Time for more stuff sent to me that made the cut. The most appropriate thing I can say about this clip is that it adds new meaning to the term, 'Eat Shit and Die' . Well, at least no one died - except from embarrassment. Thanks, Bob.

Look, Obama Can Read !! But What Is It ?

Is This Obama, Or Horatio Caine From CSI Miami ???
The nice thing when you have a blog like mine, is that lots of people send you things that they think are 'blogworthy'. Of course, most of them aren't - mainly because I didn't think of them, but some are. Not always for the right reason, but because they got a twisted view of what the story is actually about.
Such may be the case with this picture I got of Barack Obama this week. It shows him carrying a book, and what that book was is of great concern to some people I know... The book is "The Post-America World" by Fareed Zakaria. It's focus is about the future powers of the world, and how America will no longer be the great superpower of Earth. It's pretty critical of the US political system, where partisanship has essentially paralyzed the growth of our country, where more autocratic nation (India, China, Russia) have been able to make gains. Zakaria basically says the US will soon be in a position where it will need to negotiate, and prepare for being Number Two...
Is Obama just reading an interesting read - like that Dianetics book - or does he really believe this sceario, and is preparing to lead America from a stance of capitulation? Don't ask me - I can't read the guy's mind... I like a President who can understand a topic from all sides before making a decision - and telling the wrong side to suck it... It looks like we'll soon be finding out if he takes the book for gospel or not.....
What I don't understand is the goofy take people take on where this book is coming from. I had it sent to me that the book is taken 'from a Muslim viewpoint'. Let's get the info straight here. Zakaria is an Indian-American , and almost all people from India are Hindu, not Muslim. To find the American hating Muslim in the region, you have to go across the border to Pakistan. You may remember the war the two countries had about 60 years ago. No, I wan't there either, but I know about it somehow. I read.....And I saw 'Gandhi'.
No, I don't like the prospect of America being a second class power in the future, but there MAY be a small shred of truth in the theory - and yes, the truth hurts sometimes. But I get a little queasy from all the distortions about the whole religion thing, where it's obvious that there are a lot of Christians who are confused and a bit bigoted about those not like them. Xenophobic? I hate the term, but a little biased, maybe...

While You And I Struggle, Gates and Buffett Battle to Be America's Richest Bastard..

The Final Score ? $58-55 Billion.... But Who Won???
In these times of economic woe and political strife, we here at SC6 try to take your minds off of these things, and to show all the positive that is the place we call Planet Earth. So, what do you bring up when everyone seems obsessed with gas prices, freefalling stock and mortgage and credit meltdowns? How about the battle to be America's richest man?
You know, I remember reading as a kid that John D. Rockefeller was the world's richest man, at barely $1 Billion. Boy has his butt fallen behind..... For years, there has been a dogfight between Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Berkshire-Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Well, one made a big move this month, and overtook the other - maybe for good this time.
Yep, our winner gained an amazing $8 Billion in a mere 33 days to pass the other, who lost $1.5 Billion during the same period, which is like you losing a $10 bill from your wallet. So, who is #1? The envelope please............. YOUR WINNER IS....... WARREN BUFFETT !!!!
No real surprise here... It's easy to be worth $58 Billion when the stock of the compny you run is trading for $133,000 A SHARE !!!!! Microsoft stock meanwhile, has already seen it's best days pass...... Hey don't let all this get you down. I'm sure you'll get a weeks bonus for Christmas this year....

Sending My Condolences To a Co-Worker....

I want to take a minute here to send out a message for a co-worker of mine. Yes, i have had many co-workers over the 50 jobs that have made up my 'career'. We all have people we work with, but as a Service Advisor, you always have that other Service Advisor - the guy who works right next to you all day, every day.

For the past two months , that guy has been Rick McGill. He's a good guy, and for a 24 yr old, he knows more about Grunge Music than anyone else his age that I'v ever seen. Unfortunately, Rick lost his grandmother today. The last couple days have been hard for him, and everyone who saw what he had to experience this week. I've been there plenty of times myself, so although covering the service dept. this week alone (our boss was in Greensboro for training) was tough, it's not hard to do it. He'd do the same for me....

How Do You Get Shot By a Stove ?? Here's How.

Watch the Kid, Lady, It May Be Set to High, Low or Execute .....

Yes, this is another one of THOSE stories.... The goofy news stories that you guys all love so much. Here we go. A lady in Sekiu, Washington recently was at home with her heater stove on , when suddenly, she heard aloud bang, and was shot in the calf. Luckily, she wasn't injured too badly, and she was treated and released.

Now the big question: how do you get shot in the leg by a stove?? Well, it seems that she dropped soem shotgun shells near the stove, and a couple of the shells fell into a pile of newspaper for the stove, and she missed them. The newspapers eventually made their way into the stove, they got hot, then BANGO !!! Shot in the leg, a la Dick Cheney !!

Check Out the New Clyburn Billboard !!!!

Building a Better Barrel of Bullshit !!! Nice Alliteration ....
Yes, with nancy Harrelson's team actually working to run a campaign, Jim Clyburn's camp has decided to put up a few billboards in the District. Bobby sent this to me, because he knows how much I'd enjoy it, but i had already seen a couple of these in Flotown - not that anyone here likes him.
As hokey and inappropriate as the Motto may be, the biggest laugh is Clyburn himself. Check out that look on his face !! "Great Googly Moogly !!! Sweetie, You Is Beautiful.. You Wanna be an Intern?." No doubt the poor girl is wishing Jim would get his big meats hooks off her arm.....

Who Did I Think Won the Debate? Does It Matter?

The One Certainty? There Will Be No October Surprises......
Round Two is now over, and once again, I didn't make it all the way through it..... My Election Funk is still in full bloom - I'm kinda tired, and it's now at the point where I give the answers before the candidates are..... It's like watching a movie that you've seen 100 times before, but it wasn't that great even the first time you saw it.
In short, neither Obama or McCain really made any headway towards their winning the Presidency. Of course, that favors Obama. He has the lead and the Mojo. I wasn't expecting either one to debate the issues much better than the other. They've had too much practice to mess up at this point. However, with all the importance riding on the paramount second debate, i was waiting on one thing - who would drop the October Surprise.
If you are unfamiliar with the term, an October Surprise, it is used to describe an earth-shattering revelation that ruins a candidate's campaign.. Swift Boat, Willie Horton, Dan Quayle..... You get the meaning. With an expected TV audience of 50-70 million viewers, last night was the time to do it. It never happened.
This tells me one thing: Both candidate's shotgun barrels are empty. All the dirt they've been throwing - Rev Wright, Bill Ayres, The Keating Five - were all tossed around during the primaries. Clearly, both camps couldn't find anything new to attack their opponent, which means one thing - the next 26 days are going to be very repetitive and boring..... What the hell am I going to blog about now? I'll figure something out...

Travis Barker Wants to Play Again . Don't Count On It Anytime Soon.

I read an article where Travis Barker was released from the Augusta Burn Center, and he drove by bus all the way back to California. Yes, he would not fly home, and I would probably have done the same.... He's being treated locally, but he does have second and third degree burns over the bottom half of his body, and his hands.
Now, while it sounds like he's on the road to recovery, don't expect to see him behind a drum kit for a long, long time. My ex brother in law suffered burns very similar to this from an at-work accident , and he is still not back at work after 2 years. These burns are extremely painful, and i can almost guarantee that Barker is on a slew of pain medications. Big ones... Aside from the pain, overcoming the possibility of getting addicted to these painkillers will be his greatest challenge. You don't just heal from third degree burns overnight. Barker is in for the fight of his life...
Now granted, Barker was sent straight to the premier burn facility in the Southeast, while my ex-bro was fucked up one of our local premier hospitals, before the finally sent him there. Hopefully for him, that will play a big part in his recovery. For his sake, it better.. For those of you who fans, keep playing that CD, because you won't see him onstage for a while - if ever.

The National Debt Clock Hits TILT !!!!

What Happens After $10 Trillion ?? It Breaks...Then the World Ends.
In case you've never seen this, this is The National Debt Clock. It is located in a couple locations in New York, and it keeps a running tally of the National Debt, so it's always running, and it always gets higher.
Well, you might notice that it only can go to $9.9999999 Trillion . However, the US Government has ramped up the excessive spending, to the point that the debt has cracked that barrier, so the Debt Clock is now BROKEN !! Apparently, the man who invented the clock back in the 70's -who is now dead - never thought that the debt could ever possibly get that high. Well, give Congress a goal, and they'll do anything to meet it - or break it.
The makers of the clock will have another two digits added, so now they can run the debt up to $999 Trillion before it breaks again. Dare to Dream ......

Pray This Guy Is Smart....

Say Hello to Neel Kashkari......... Who??

Alright, we're 5 days past the Wall Street bailout, and the stock market is still in freefall, and worse - the credit crunch is circling the globe. On Monday alone, the drop in the markets worldwide cost investors $2.5 trillion. IN ONE DAY .....

Now, aside from the credit problems, the affect on the stock market is worse to a lot of Americans. Your 401k, retirement benefits, and other investments are shrinking like your weenie after jumping in an icebath... The only trouble is, it's too late to get out. All you can do now is wait it out, and let it come back up - relax, it always does eventually.

As far as the credit crunch, the Treasury Department has it's point man for the bailout. His name is Neel Kashkari - a 35 yr old whiz kid from Goldman Sachs who then moved to the Treasury (so he knows when to get out). Kashkari must be pretty good at the business, because he's managed to lose all his hair by his mid-30's... His job will be to dole out the $700 Billion set aside by Congress in the best way possible. Having to deal with a guy who looks like Dr. Evil may make the banks less likely to overindulge. ZIP IT !!!

Now for the bad news... It appears that the Bush Administration is quickly learning that the $700 Billion may still not be enough- it never is, is it? Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke is being pressured to drop the Prime lending rate, but the major move is that he just authorized the Fed to buy nearly $1.3 TRILLION of short term loans that many companies use to float themselves for daily and weekly loans, what is called commercial paper. I might know alot about economic theory, but even I'm learning a lot of this as I go along. Whatever I learn, I'll try to teach you along with me..

Stay tuned..... your future depends on it. Not mine - I'm independently wealthy, and I've had all my money in a shoebox.

Sarah Palin Saves Saturday Night Live....

Tina Fey Strikes Gold For SNL With Her Sarah Palimitation....
I was wrong earlier this year, when I said that old Jewish lady in Denver was the star of Election 2008. Without a doubt, the big star of this season has been Tina Fey, and her Sarah Palin imitation. While I wouldn't say her act is spot-on, it's a whole lot better than Fred Armisen's Barack Obama or Amy Poehler's Hillary Clinton.
Sure, Fey isn't even a cast member anymore, but even she knew that this was a golden opportunity to make a real mark. Thanks to her appearances, SNL's ratings have risen 49% since last year, so it's safe to say that if it wasn't for Sarah Palin, SNL might be on the ropes.....
Of course, SNL might not want to gloat just yet. Fey sin't coming back, Amy Poehler is leaving in November, and .......... the rest of the cast sucks... Also, the Election - and all the picking on the candidates - ends in 4 weeks. Don't expect them to cut into Obama the way they do to Palin. But hey, McCain-Palin could still win. SNL should be so lucky........
.

Here's What $1.75 Will Buy In Michigan....

Okay. It's a Little Nicer Than The Clampett Mansion Here....
That's the one good thing about living in South Carolina - we always have Michigan to pick on, and feel better about ourselves. If you think things suck around here, check out the Wolverine State....
With the American Auto Industry being thoroughly down the crapper for the last few years, people are trying to cash out ASAP, and get out of there. So, the real estate market is in absolute free fall. How bad is it? How about a house for $1.75???
Yep, a woman from Chicago bought a place in Saginaw , Michigan for about the price of a McDonald's Iced Cappucino. Truth be known, it will be slightly more than that. The current owner owes $850 in back taxes and cleanup costs. Still, not a bad deal overall - if they can ever sell it. Maybe that Iced Cappucino was a better investment.......

How About a Little Good News....

Gas Prices Go From 'WTF' to 'OMG', May Go to 'LOL' By November.....
It's Sunday.. A day of rest and football, or in my case, cleaning this dump up a bit... So what was the good news? Well, I'm losing in fantasy football to a 13 yr. old who doesn't know who the heck is playing this weekend. Wait... It must be that I'm cleaning cat piss off of the futon, because Ben is too lazy to keep up with it, and he's hiding the litter somewhere aside from the room where the box is....
Hold on, I'm losing focus here... I remember now. A month after Hurricanes Ike and Gustav, gas prices are FINALLY dropping. I went to get some lunch at Taco Bell, and there it was - Unleaded Regular was down to $3.49 at the Kangaroo station. What was it three days earlier? $3.62 . Time for the quick Econ lesson....
You may know this yet, but the Economy is in the dumper a bit lately, and when we are poor, we don't drive much. This lowers demand, and thus the price of a barrel of oil has dropped under $100 a barrel for consecutive days for the first time in 7 months. Now, the price is still high right now because the refineries that process oil into gasoline shut down for a couple weeks. They're back online again now, and the supply of gas is returning to the stations again at long last.... As your trusted advisor, I'd say by the end of the month we will once again see gas near the $3 a gallon level. Remember that? Me neither....
Now for me, that translates into about $5 extra bucks a week, so I might be able to eat out for lunch on pay day, but for guys like Bobby, that's probably $25 a week or more. I'm sure he'll let us know... So, fear not - gas will be cheaper at the pump, and that also makes things cheaper at the supermarket, and other places too. Will that help John McCain? Ha, Ha! ;)

Erection 2008: McCain is Going Down...

OUCH !! I Don't Like It Either, John.....

Here at SC6, we pull no punches. We call things as we see them in the hopes that the GOP will actually listen to an honest moron like myself. Sometimes I am the Pied Piper of Hope , but tonight, I seem to be the Angel of Death , or at least the Harbinger of Doom for the GOP next month. I'm looking into my crystal ball, and I see John McCain almost definitely losing.
Like we have said time and time again, the national vote means NOTHING in the General Election - much to Bobby's aggravation - so when you see McCain is a point of two behind nationally, pay no attention to it. The Electoral College is what matters. So the state-by-state tally is what counts. McCain is losing big time....
According to 270toWin.com , they calculate their predictions based on a 5pt or more lead to call a state. By that standard, they have Barack Obama leading by a count to 250 to 163. That means Obama only needs 20 more electoral votes to win. The states still remaining do not bode real well for McCain either. These are the ones listed as Swing States (within 5 pts.): Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, New Hampshire, Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri , Colorado and Nevada. Ten states, and all Obama has to win is one or two of them.
I'm a big numbers guy. What is the statictical probablility of an Obama win right now? How about 99%.....There are 22 possible ways Obama can win. McCain only has ten, and there has NEVER been a poll that has shown McCain winning an Electoral Election.. Yeah, a while back, none of this mattered, but when you are within 30 days of the election, they are very important. What we have right now is Obama is on mile 495 of the Daytona 500, chugging along at 198 MPH, and McCain is a lap or two two down, not stalling, but not gaining any ground....
John Kerry got 251 votes, and Obama has picked up New Mexico and Iowa since then. Everyone talks about Ohio and Florida, but Obama has don eit by adding a couple little ones. The key state to watch is Missouri. They have gone on the side of the winner in every one of the last TEN elections. Obama has turned a 5 pt. deficit into a 1 pt. lead in the last three weeks. Why? It's a little thing that rhymes with Ball Street Shmailout.
None of this really has been McCain's fault. He's been tagged as a Bush third termer, the financial sector hit the shitter right as we hit the home stretch. It's all an amalgamation of bad luck for McCain. People are really mad at Washington, and the GOP is the party that holds the White House. It all plays out badly for McCain..
So, what do I think the numbers will be? Obama will take New Hampshire, Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota and Missouri. Most of the Electoral Maps have a clear geographical trend, and I see Obama winning the Northeast, Midwest and West Coast - and that's where the votes are. Obama wins 319-219. It won't even be all that close....
I know, i'm ticking off a lot of my political allies, but if you want a biased GOP cheerleader, my advice is to read The Palmetto Scoop. My time is unpaid for, so I get to tell you the truth - and I think y'all appreciate it. I hope I'm wrong, and you never know - I did get the Gamecock game wrong today......... but I'm much better at politics.
.

And You Thought Marching Band Was For Geeks...

As a part time amateur musician, we take a look down our noses sometimes at Marching Bands in college. You know the stereotype - a chubby, ugly, geeky Tuba player - whereas I am a chubby , geeky guitar player. Anyway, when you get 300 of them together, it does lend itslef to the ribbing. This is what we think of when we hear 'Marching Band' .........
Okay, maybe that's not what we think of, but maybe it's true.... What's going on at the University of Wisconsin seems to confirm that thought. The ENTIRE marching band has been suspended from performing at today's game against Ohio State, due to improper activities, which include "Alcohol, Sex and Hazing".... They won't go into the details, but it must have been pretty bad to suspend the entire squad....
Hey, this is nothing new to the Badgers' Marching Band. In 2006, they caught flack from the university when reports of female members not being allowed to use the bathroom on the bus unless they kissed another girl on the way to the Michigan game. The tradition at Wisconsin is so bad that the marching band actually has a code of conduct manual, where they can be supended or expelled for bad behavior.
So, where you might think of the first clip as your typical marching band, the hazing allegations may make you think of this instead...
Yes, those Badgers can be pretty ornery, but not as bad as this Badger..

Wukela's Road to Mayor Gets Very 'Rocky'...

Wukela Won the Battle, But May Lose the War to Pearce.....

Remember back in June, when Stephen Wukela beat Florence Mayor and former Gubernatorial candidate Frank Willis? Due to the fact that the Florence GOP was brilliant enough to talk a qualified candidate out of running, it sure seemed like Wukela has the job all sewn up, right? Even Wukela was addressing city council like the job was his. Well, think again !!

Like we had posted earlier, former Mayor Rocky Pearce entered the race afterwards - and he is putting up a pretty strong campaign. If Wukela didn't think he had his work cut out before, he better now. Why is Wukela having such a hard time now? Because Florence is a funny place to run for office....

We have this old school thing that goes on here still. The Republican Party isn't as organized as it really ought to be, and most candidates still run as Democrats , or in Pearce's case, as an Independent. But, truth be known, they are Republicans - they just dont say it. This isn't a shocker, but Willis was a Republican, which is why he lost to Tommy Moore in 2006. Even a Democrat can smell bullshit...

Another truth is that Wukela is scaring the poop out of some of those in city government. He does have some pretty liberal views - his two kids are of or near school age, so increasing the school budget is a major priority to him. But, he has no experience at all, and those Old School folks don't like unknowns, so they are going Back to the Future with Pearce. With the full support of the local GOP, who actually were rooting for Willis in the beginnning... Such is life in Flotown...

Is Pearce a better choice than Wukela? I have no idea. I never even heard of the man before he ran, and I known very little of him, so I am left blind. Channel 15 will be having a debate between the two later this month, so my advice is to watch and decide for yourself. But, I can say Pearce is putting up a pretty strong campaign so far - much better than Willis did. He has an easy to read circular sign, and they are in yards everywhere, next to Kenney Boone and other GOP candidate signs. That reminds me - has anyone seen a McCain-Palin sign available here yet, or so we still have to make our own?

So, I'll give a snippet of advice to Stephen (Skippy) Wukela, who I do know, and whom I think is a nice guy.... You have a real fight on your hands here, my friend.. Don't think the hard part is over. You got past your own party, now you have to fight them AND the GOP. The hard part has just begun..

SC6 Sports: South Carolina vs. Mississippi

One Quarterback !! We Just Need ONE GOOD QUARTERBACK , Dammit !!

It's Saturday again.. Time for college football !!! After last week's debacle against Maryland, Clemson is taking the weekend off. Word is that they're all hanging out at Graham Slough, getting pointers on the passing game from Moye.. So, that just leaves us with Carolina and Mississippi. It should be a good game, but......

Now, I could go with the standard accounting procedure: Mississippi has gone win, lose, win, lose, win - so that bodes well for USC. However, they do play the game, you know. Will there be a letdown on the Rebels after last week's HUGE win against Florida? There are plenty of good factors to predict a Carolina win today - Carolina has a pretty stout defense, so they have a chance against Mississippi's potent offense (30 PPG). But........

Here's the tough parts. Carolina hasn't shown much on the offensive side of the ball. Is Garcia the answer? Maybe, but I don't think he'll be the one just yet. The kid is still green, and there will be growing pains. Maybe next year... Also, Houston Nutt is the coach now at Ole Miss, and he has Carolina's number - almost always has. Thye've been pretty strong all year, and they appear to be the surprise team of the West Division this season. They played Vanderbilt and Wake Forest tough , despite losing, then the big game against Florida. They seem to be moving in the right direction, where USC is stuck in neutral . Oh, and the game is in Oxford. I think I made up my mind.
Mississippi 27-16.

John McCain: The REAL Black Candidate ????

McCain Showing Us His 'Black Power' Fist ???
Here is a clip from 'The Daily Show' tonight, and it had me laughing out loud..... 'Senior Black Correspondent' Larry Wilmore is discussing which candidate for President is REALLY more black - Barack Obama or John McCain. While McCain may be pigmentally challenged - aka, The Whitest Guy in America, Wilmore makes alot of good points to help McCain's ability to get the African-American vote....
While it may be far-fetched, it is pretty damn funny. I hope you like it, and have a great weekend. Matt is coming up for Bike Weekend, so I gotta get ready....

Now These Are Awards I Can Get Into...

Coca-Cola As a Spermicide? Only On The Ig Nobel Awards !!!

Tired of those Annual Awards where a bunch of highbrow eggheads pass out kudos for things that you don't understand? Physics, Math, Chemistry? Who gives a crap? I want to see a guy win an award for mathematically proving that strippers earn more during their ovulation period because their boobies are bigger, or that potato chips that are crunchier taste better, or an award for a book titled "You Bastard: A Narative Exploration of the Experience of Indignation Within Organizations". Whatever that is.......

What exactly are the Ig Nobel Awards? Well, it's technically given by a group called the Annals of Improbable Research Magazine for oddball but practical scientific achievements. In essence, it's goofy science, but it does have merit.. Proving that expensive fake medications work better than cheap fake meds, Fleas on dogs jump higher than those on cats, showing that heaps of hair or string will inevitably tangle... These are some of this year's award winners..

For some of those honored, this is the Top of the Mountain - more important than a real Nobel Prize. Astolfo Gomes de Mello Araujo, who won for discovering that Armadillos can and do csrew up archaelogical digs by shuffling the artifacts up, said "There is no Nobel Prize for Archaeology, so an Ig Nobel is a good thing." Sounds like a truly proud man...... at least compared to his cousin , who works as a towel boy in Veracruz.......

Congrats to all the winners, and for all the rest of you, get ready for Ig Nobel 2009 !!!!!

The New Bailout Bill Breezes Through Congress and The White House - Now What?

The Extra $110 Billion Sweetens The Deal.......

Okay, everyone can now breathe a sigh of relief, right? Hell, who knows..... Congress has no idea, President Bush has no idea, Paulson and Bernanke have a bit of an idea, but they're not certain by any means.

In theory, what the Treasury Dept. did makes sense to allow banks to extend credit to consumers and each other. Still, there are other things that could and should be done to get things straight. Taking steps to keep people in their homes and paying is paramount. However, if Congress wants to accept Joe Biden's absurd idea that those who aren't paying should be rewarded by increasing their principal amounts, then my support ends. Let's not reward bad behavior folks...

Of course, Congress got this passed by how it usually does it - by bribing the stragglers. the extra $110 Billion has nothing to do with the current crisis. They increased the AMT so less Americans will be caught in the higher tax trap, then they added money for rural education and adding money for mental health hospice care... That will do tons to lower mortgage payments. hey , it's how DC works....

Yeah, it took a little while to remind everyone in the business world, but they finally realized that the American Consumer is still the driving force behind a stable economy, and if they can't pay the bills, business suffers. Yep, it's a tricky tightrope we walk, guys. No doubt that this crisis has left an indelible mark on the people here. Maybe this hasn't affected how you look at your finances, but it has to me. I might not buy another car for a decade, the credit cards will grow an inch of dust on them, and I might even try to save money again. If I can....

Still Not Registered to Vote? This Is Your Last Chance, And We're Here to Help....

If You're Not Here In November, Shame On You !!!!
So, despite everything that has gone on - all the debates, primaries, caucuses and commercials - you STILL haven't registered to vote. My better judgement might normally tell me to give up on you all that haven't done it yet. However, I know that some of you guys are truly interested in this election, but maybe you didn't know how or have been unable to register. I have one warning for you...This is LITERALLY your LAST CHANCE - today.
Why am I quitting on you stragglers now? Uh, it's the law...... You see, you must register to vote 30 days before the election to be eligible to vote, so you application must be postmarked by October 4th. That means get it in the mail by Saturday, or you miss out.
Now, I've helped register a few people lately, and honestly, most of them will likely vote for Obama, so why did I do this? First off, John McCain will win South Carolina handily, so thanks to our Electoral College system, McCain will get the 8 votes whether they vote or not. The main reason I am doing this is simple: because it's important - especially this year.
Some of you guys are younger, and we often do stupid things. To avoid that, let me give you this scenario from your future...... You're sitting around the house with your family, and one of your kids asks, 'Who did you vote for in that big 2008 Election?' Picture telling your kid that you didn't vote, or worse, weren't even registered, even though the great Mike Reino gave you all the tools to do so?? You're wasting my talents !!!!!!! This is a once in a generation election, and to skip it will fill you with regret later on. You need to vote - even if it's for the wrong person. Some things are more important than being right...
Here is my last ditch effort for you guys: Here is the website to register to vote. Simply click on your state, fill it out, print it and mail it by Saturday.... It doesn't get much easier. Or you can ignore it, and face the Wrath of Reino. This is your homework for the weekend. Don't make me give you a friggin' F...

Russian Soldier Raps, Bitches His Way Into a One Way Ticket to Siberia...

Your Left, Your Left, Your Left, Right, Left ............
And they say that Russians have no sense of humor... Okay, they don't. Let's just say they have a little more fun in the Ukraine - not a lot more, but they do smile at least...... In the news this week, a Russian soldier stationed in St. Petersburg (formerly Leningrad, formerly St. Petersburg) was so unhappy with the conditions at his barracks that he decided to make a rap song and video about it, and he posted in on RuTube, which is the Soviet equivalent of YouTube - minus the Freddie Mercury as a Prarie Dog videos....
Well, it made it all the way to Moscow, and the Russian military gave him a nice present......... a reassignment to Siberia. Congrats , comrade !! And just in time for Winter too... Next time, wait until Spring to shoot you mouth off. Was it worth it all? I doubt it, but here's the video he made. It's a spinoff of Eminem's 'Stan' - yes, they are still 4 years behind the times behind the Iron Curtain. It is in Russian, so don't expect to understand a word, but you do get to see how crappy things are there. This makes the cracks in the ceiling at Walter Reed look like a day at the Ritz Carlton.....

Sarah Palin Is Under a Lot of Pressure Tonight...

Let's Hope Those Shoulder Pads Are Extra Sturdy.......
The big day is here..... the simmering keg of gasoline that is the Joe Biden and Sarah Palin debate. Grease fires could abound tonight when the guy who loves to stick his foot in is mouth meets the woman who everyone is waiting to screw up.....
While the sound bites, newsworthy foul-ups and heated exchange could be plentiful tonight, there is no doubt that all the pressure is on Sarah Palin. While things looked dandy a month ago, the media's attacks, and the McCain camp's inexplicable need to buffer Palin - which only made it worse, have everyone once again looking at Palin tonight with the same demand - Show Us Something.
This is a very odd election, because John McCain's entire campaign has been guided not by himself, but by those around him. First it was George W. Bush, now it is Palin. The Palin pick jumped his polls immediately, and as the criticisms of her have mounted, McCain's numbers have dropped. With the Wall Street bailout compounding McCain's troubles, the pressure to save the campaign once again falls on Palin's perky posterior.
Like Barack Obama in the first debate with McCain, all Joe Biden has to do is hold serve. He doesn't have to attack or go for the kill, all he needs to do is play it safe, make his points, and not screw up. Palin , on the other hand, needs to impress the nation and get those 5-8 points nationally that McCain is behind. With every day, the task gets greater: McCain is pulling out of Michigan to focus on more winnable states - and that list is getting shorter......
Can Palin pull it off? Sure. She's done it before, and she can do it again, but the bar is set higher this time.... There will be questions, and Gwen Ifill can say that she's impartial, but the lady worships Barack Obama.... It will be a challenge.

Goodbye House Peters Jr. - Who ??

The advertising world lost another one of it's icons this week, when veteran actor House Peters, Jr. passed away at the age of 92. Peters acted for almost 35 years, often starring in Westerns with the likes of Roy Rogers and Gene Autry. Before you ask - no, he was not the Marlboro Man....
Back in the old days of television, the characters on commercials weren't cartoons, they were actual people, although his did eventually go that way. Guess yet? Here's another clue - nearly everyone has used his product... Last clue - I'm not sure if wore the earring in the commercials....Here you go.
Yep, he was the first one..... Bye, House !!

SC6 Florence Food Critic: Five Guys Burgers..

Why is the Trophy Club Better Than Five Guys? Find Out Below......

Well, I finally got to go out to lunch today... Bobby got stuck in traffic in Myrtle Beach, so he got into town at about 2:30, so I was really ready to eat something - anything!!! Bob suggested we check out the new Five Guys Burgers at Five Points. Sounded good to me....

This is an up and down food review, so I'll break it down a bit. I was thinking it was kind of a Red Robin kinda place, where you can get some exotic kooky burger. For some strange reason, I was hoping to score a Blue Cheese Burger, but Five Guys does it differently... The menu is kind of like the menu at the restaurant in 'My Cousin Vinny' - breakfast, lunch and dinner.. They have hamburger, cheesesburger, and bacon cheeseburger - and that's it. From there, you get unlimited toppings from their list, which is cool. I ordered mine with lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled onion, jalapenos and A-1 sauce. Yes, I was going all out... I also went for the cajun fries and a coke. What I didn't notice was that the fries and drink add $4.10 to the bill......The total came to $10.53

We went outside to enjoy the weather while the food came. The furniture is pretty minimal and rather uncomfortable, so you may prefer ordering out. They do give you peanuts to munch on while you wait - nice little touch, and they do have vinegar malt for the fries, although I passed. Then the food came.

My burger was very good, although mine and Bobby's got mixed up. However, just about everything I ordered on mine was missing. No mayo, jalapeno's, onions or A-1. I was starving, and Bob can tell you, I never complain about food. Truth was, i was so damn hungry by then, i didn't notice the stuff missing. Overall, the burger was great - fresh, the bun was super soft, but for $10.50 it could have been a little bigger. I could score 2 Double Whoppers for the same price, and then some.

Will this place make it in Flotown? Honestly, I'm not sure. We Florentine's are notoriously cheap, and a decent burger could be had at ten other places for 1/3 the price, or you can sit down comfortably at Ruby Tuesday's for the same price. If there were someplace to sit, maybe it could be a neat little place for a date burger, but.........

In short, Five Guys has good food, but the price is a bit steep to enjoy all the time.....Yikes! I forgot... Why is the Trophy Club better than Five Guys? Sure, I spend a lot of money at both places , but at the TC, at least I get everything I ordered, right ?? ;)

Why My Sidewalk Looks Like a Toxic Waste Dump.

It Ain't Raining, But the Water Keeps Running Down My Yard....

For the past month now, I've had this nice little, greasy., oily , smelly , rusty trail of crap pour down the street and across my front yard.. It's looks like New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. It started after Hanna blew through last month, and even though it hasn't rained a whole lot for the last couple weeks, it keeps coming.

While the water has been pretty good for my grass, the crap in it is staining everything in my front yard, my driveway and street. I can't tell you how bad this crap smells, and for a couple weeks, I had no idea where it was coming from - only that it started from my neighbor Chris' yard. So, i finally asked him what it was. It seems that it's coming from the nice apartment complex behind and uphill from our houses. Turns out the retention pond they put in was a LITTLE too small, so when it rains, the water - along with the waste oil, rust and other shit from the parking lot - ends up overflowing down the hill and ends up right in our street. Maybe if it deosn't rain for another month or two, it'll stop. Until then, this is what I have to step in to get my mail everyday...

Pretty tasty, huh?
You see, this is why I spent 4 years trying to make sure that development in Florence did things right. I'd like to slice off a chunk of this crap, and make the architect whole designed the retention pond eat it. Chow down, a-hole!! Instead, i'll just let this stuff invade my immune system, then i'll get back at them this way.......

Hollywood Goes Political For The Election....

Liberal or Conservative, There's a Movie For You This Fall.................
As we get closer to Election Day - only 34 days away now - we have an influx of movies coming out of Hollywood to try and influence your vote. Yes, just like they dump a slew of Christmas movie every December, Hollywood wants to sway how you vote in November....
Now, while John McCain and Barack Obama are the ones running for the Presidency, they are not the targets of the attack movies coming out. No doubt whoever wins will soon have the bullseye on them soon enough. Nope, the guy running is offlimits for now, so they are hitting on two other targets - George W. Bush and Michael Moore. Sounds like they're about 4 years too late.. John Kerry surely must think so.....
The two movies coming out are from different sides, and different genres too. One is a comedy - if it ends up being funny, the other a drama that might end up being a comedy if it sucks enough.
This week, "An American Carol" will be in theatres nationwide. It's a Michael Moore meets Ebenezer Scrooge film, where a chubby filmmaker decides to push a ban on the 4th of July, only to be visited by the spirits of George Washington, Gen. Patton and the Angel of Death..... Moore is played by Kevin Farley, who is Chris Farley's brother. You probably have seen him on the Hertz ads, where he acts A LOT like his brother... Is it funny? Here's the trailer for your viewing...
The second one coming out is Oliver Stone's 'W" - his almost personal attack on George W. Bush, where he oversees his transformation from Yale Frat Boy to the Presidency...... It seems like this movie was just shot a couple months ago, but Stone's has worked overtime to get this into theaters before the Election. John McCain probably doesn't appreciate it, but movies that get rushed like this generally end up sucking. That's why they pay movies editors and cinematograhpers so much money.
Even though I disagree politically with him, I like most of Stone's movies. JFK and Wall Street are two of my favorites, although I don't know what Nixon had to do with JFK's assassination and Vietnam.... The Doors was pretty good too. How will it turn out? We'll see, but here's the trailer for it too....It hits theaters October 17th..

Give the People What They Want: More 'How Tough Kenney Boone Is'...

Kenney and His Deputies: The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ??

Hey, we're not stupid here at SC6 - if we hit on something that the readers like, we'll gladly run it into the ground. Or at least we'll run a few more posts on it. Little did we know that the Kenney Boone - Chuck Norris jokes would be a runaway success...... So, in the spirit of The Godfather: Part II, First Blood Part II (isn't that Second Blood?), and all those Police Academy sequels, here is How Tough Kenney Boone Is: Part Two......

Kenney Boone doesn't eat. He just kicks ass until he's full.....

If you want a list of Kenney Boone's enemies, just check the extinct species list.

Kenney Boone isn't Lactose Intolerant, he just doesn't put up with lactose's crap..

When you open up a can of Whoop-Ass, Kenney Boone jumps out of it...

Aliens do exist, they're just waiting for kenney Boone to die before they attack...

There are no Disabled People - just people who have met Kenney Boone and somehow survived.

Kenney Boone has never blinked in his entire life. Ever.

If Kenney Boone is late, Time better slow the hell down........

Rudolph has a red nose because he got lippy one day, and Kenney Boone roundhouse kicked him in the face several times.

A coin toss is called 'Heads or Tails' to determine from which end Kenney Boone will kick your ass............ I made that one up myself !!
