Whether you agree politically or not with the guys over at Comedy Central, you have to admit that Stephen Colbert is a pretty funny guy, and that he does put a positive light on South Carolinians... And he does care about the troops.
Colbert has been on special assignment this week in Iraq, to remind America that this dangerous and expensive war is still going on. Tonight is the first installment, and he starts off with a bang. First, he underwent training for ten hours at Fort Jackson to prepare - and failed miserably. Then , he got to Iraq, and the first thing they did was shave his head. And not just anyone, but Gen. Ray Odierno, who accepted a videotaped order from Barack Obama, did it himself!
Colbert, a Charleston native, has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Yellow Ribbon Fund, which assists injured service members and their families, and he is also a Board Member of DonorsChoose.org, which raises money for the education of children of parents in the military. While he has made a very good living mocking Bill O'Reilly, even he might admit that Colbert is a bit of a Patriot.... and he's pretty damn funny too.
The shows will be airing this week at 11:30 , Monday thru Thursday, or for those with early bedtimes like me, they rerun at 8:30PM the following day....
