It's Just Billy Corgan Now .....
It makes us happy to be able to promote new music from existing bands, particularly ones form our heyday. This week, we're a little bittersweet as we keep you up on the latest song from Smashing Pumpkins....
We think singer/guitarist Billy Corgan is one of the most prolific and talented songwriters around, and he has been for he last 20 years. Most of the music you heard on any SP song was actually him, not James Iha or D'Arcy, who have been out of the band for some time now. The part that makes us sad is to see drummer Jimmy Chamberlin gone as well. Which leaves Corgan as the sole member left. Drummer Mike Byrne, long with guitarist Jeff Schroeder and bassist Nicole Fiorentino make up the rest of the band.
All that aside, Corgan still writes great, cutting-edge music. Not only that, he's adjusted his marketing to the current buying habits as well. With the move from CD's and albums to MP3's and single song buying, Corgan and The Pumpkins are releasing their 44-song disc, Teargarden By Kaleidyscope, one song a month at a time.... Pretty brilliant in our book. This is the latest track, 'Freak'...
