Skimming through all of the local news that I missed, I saw that Orangeburg State Senator Brad Hutto has decided that he will not be running against current US Senator Jim DeMint next year. No surprise there.. DeMint has a mint of cash sitting in his campaign account, and it may be enough to scare of all comers. Maybe ...
First it appeared to be former SCDP Chair Joe Erwin who would take on DeMint, but he passed. After that, it was Hutto, who seemed to be interested in going for the job, but that plan was nixed this weekend. Was it the money. Maybe. It's hard to go from zero to $6 million ... and time is running out. So, will the Democrats fail to put up a candidate? We doubt it. More importantly, there's a chance that it could be someone that would seriously test Jim DeMint's mettle....
So, who is it? We're going to hold off on it right now. We've just been hearing this person's name being bandied about a lot. If it's true, DeMint will have a harder time than he had in 2004 with Inez Tenenbaum. Candidate X has the contacts, the real world experience, and perhaps most importantly, the money to cut a $5 million check without sneezing. Yeah, we're being a big tease here, but when this person does/doesn't run, we'll be sure to let you know............

I think the person you are talking about is Darla Moore. If so then I have heard the same things as you have...
Maybe, maybe not..
I really, really, really, really wish we could talk Judge Sanders into running again. Alas...I am pretty sure that ship has sailed.
P-Luv buddy, I really, really, really, really think he's not running anymore. The odds are about the same as finding that woodpecker he tallked about in Sparkleberry Swamp!
They will put up somebody for sure
I would not count on it. Our state party sucks. We had a great chance to beat Graham this past election and who did we wind up with? Flat-Top Bob, who was so weak, he could not even stand up to our first year lawyer's questions when he stopped by here to meet county party officers.
For what its worth, if you are a Democrat and you want to win in this State, you have to be willing to do it all yourself.
