Godzilla and Kate Walk Out on the Yankees .... 2010 Doesn't Look So Super Right Now.
Like most winters in baseball, the good cheer of a World Series championship is beginning to lose it's luster. That's because every December, the Winter Meetings and free agent signings go into high gear - and we find out who looks like the contenders for 2010. Let's just say that next year looks like a tougher one for our Yankees ......
At first, it looked good: they acquired Curtis Granderson from Detroit. Then, in just a day or two, the wheels have started to come off. Not that it's their fault, but the other teams have made some big moves. First, Hideki Matsui signed with the Angels for one year (?), and at the same time, it was reported that Kate Hudson - who managed to screw (?) Alex Rodriguez's head on straight long enough for him to be productive in the postseason - broke up with the slugger...
But wait, Yankee haters, there's more............ The Red Sox signed John Lackey, and the Phillies traded for Roy Halladay. Add the fact that New York has talked about - EGADS !!!! - cutting payroll, and a decent but non-championship season is a real possibility. Feel better now?
No, it's not always fair for a team to win as much as the Yankees do, but this is America. So, the natural urge after you win one is to see if you can do it again. They can, but I wouldn't consider them the favorites now....
