Musical Chairs In Obama's Cabinet.

There was some shuffling around up in DC with Barack Obama's cabinet today. Like most Cabinets, there are always a few surprises that pop up, and the Cabinet that you think you'll have end up completely different. Like in football, that's why they play the game...

Obama will replace Bill Richardson, who had his own troubles and had to step down, with Judd Gregg as Commerce Secretary. Yes, Gregg is a Republican, and it was a nice try to take that 41st seat, but Gregg made sure that it was filled by a Republican - at least for now..

The big news this week was that Obama favorite Tom Daschle had to drop out of consideration as HHS Secretary, due to failure to pay $128,000 in taxes. Most of it was related to income not reported and free services. In short, he acted like a Senator - he got all his perks and didn't pay for it. Yeah, I could go on a partisan tear about all of these candidates and friends of Obama, and how the Obama Team didn't really do it's homework on a few of them, but I'm more about fixing problems than making them...

Here is my point. Both Democrats and Republicans need to do one thing when it comes to these cabinet positions. They need to keep poltiicians out of it. Honestly, none of these jerkoffs really know the ins and outs of the departments that they oversee. If these Secretary positions weren't used as payback, then we'd have less problems, and - SURPRISE - more qualified leaders. What should be going on that a brainiac from each department who actually knows his/her shit should be getting picked.
