A few months ago, we had a post we talke about Nancy Pelosi getting flack from her hometown Catholic Archbishop for her beliefs on Abortion. Well, the heat on Nanner is gonna get even hotter soon...
Word via the Catholic News Agency is that Pelosi has been requested an audience to 'discuss' the Church's stance on denying communion to Catholics who support Abortion. The meeting is not with a bunch of low level Cardinals, but with Pope Benedict XVI himself. By 'discuss', we're pretty certain that it will be a one-way chewing out of Pelosi's surgically enhanced butt.. If Pelosi thinks she can go in there and make headway with the Catholic Church, she's living in Fantasyland..
Look, I understand the rift between the Catholic Church and some of it's more moderate members. I used to refer to myself as 'The World's Worst Catholic', and not all of my beliefs fit in line with The Vatican. But, I don't thumb my nose at the church, and try to split hairs to make political points with The Pope. She'll find out how serious they can be when they sit down tomorrow.
Nancy won't need any plastic surgery anytime soon, because Poppa Ben's gonna chew off about 50 pounds from her ass tomorrow. He'll need a lot of sourdough bread to make sandwiches out of that flabby, old, chunky, decrepit, smelly, cheesy, mushy, ancient.....I'm getting sick.

Hmmm, I don't think Pope Benedict sells indulgences and I have it on good authority (and I suspect that Earl might confirm that with Father Titus), that the Eastern Church don't sell them either.
Maybe an excommunication is in order, though I have to ask who's first, Nan or Joe Biden?

The Catholic Church has been on a downslide ever since Hudson Hawk exposed their inner-workings.
pluv, to paraphrase Jefferson, "God forbid we go twenty eyars without a revolution". The Pope, while still a statesman, has some house cleaning to do. Some of this falls into the break of a Constitutional freedom of "the pursuit of happiness" and the black and white absolutes of "God's law".
Some still argue that the Roman Church has gone downhill since the Vatican moves away from masses in Latin, akin to the introduction of the King James Bible into the prospect of "You shall know the truth and it shall make you free".
The Church's position on the sancitity life (IMHO) has stumbling blocks for BOTH right and left, abortion and the death penalty, ina a sense contradictory solid planks of opposing political platforms, pandering to particular interests (HELP NEED the Buchanan anti-venom, quickly).
From some of the press that flowed past prior to Speaker Pelosi's dubiously timed junket, nan was going over to "set Bennie straight". Some things in this vein go straight over the heads of the nihiliscent American population, simply because they have no grasp of Roman Catholicism, dropping it into a category of something between Jewish, Lutheran and Unitarian, with the less consideration than paid to sorting socks and underwear.
We await the excommunications.
West, we never got into all that stuff. The Eastern Churches are all about pre-schism Orthodoxy.
