The Pecan Festival Hits Flotown This Saturday ....

SC6 Community Calendar.... We have a couple local stories to do this weekend. We'll do the happy news first, and save the bad news for tomorrow. Depending on what time you're reading this, either today or tomorrow, the annual Pecan Festival will be taking place in Florence. Your attendance is MANDATORY.....

I love pecans. Dipped in chocolate, dusted with some sweet stuff, or in a pie - yum, yum, gimme some!!! I brought a bag of them to my family reunion a few years back, and they got ten bucks at the auction. I also donated a jaw harp and a pair of stars and bars swim trunks, but they didn't go over quite as well....

Anyway, the Pecan Festival, although it's not that old, gets bigger and better every year. This year, there will be 200 vendors, a classic car show, the Run Like a Nut Road Race, and almost three dozen music and dance groups performing. No, there will not be a Narcdog or Ambedexrus reunion show there. It all begins Saturday at 10:00AM, and ends at 7:00PM. No, you don't have anything better to do, so get out and have some fun.... Just head to Downtown Flotown, and you can't miss it.
