Yes Folks, it's that time of year again.... The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, aka March Madness. Who cares if it ends almost halfway into April now? Last year, I admitted that I knew almost nothing about college hoops, and I promptly went 49-14 overall. The good news is I know EVEN LESS about it.... Of course, the trick is to pick THE RIGHT upsets each year. We have a few, based on no logic whatsoever - call it a hunch, or arthritic pain. Here are our picks for Round One....
Midwest Region
Kansas over Lehigh
Northern Iowa over UNLV
Michigan St over New Mexico St.
Maryland over Houston
San Diego State over Tennessee
G'town over Ohio
Oklahoma St. over Georgia Tech
Ohio State over UC- Santa Barbara
West Region
Syracuse over Vermont
Gonzaga over Florida St.
Butler over UTEP
Vanderbilt over Murray State
Xavier over Minnesota
Pittsburgh over Oakland (Pirates and A's?)
BYU over Florida
Kansas State over North Texas
East Region
Kentucky over East Tennessee St
Wake Forest over Texas
Temple over Cornell
Wisconsin over Wofford
Washington over Marquette
New Mexico over Montana
Missouri over Clemson
West Virginia over Morgan St.
South Region
Duke over Miss Congeniality..
Louisville over Cal
Texas A&M over Utah St.
Siena over Purdue
Old Dominion over Notre Dame
Baylor over Sam Houston State
Richmond over St. Mary's of Our Blessed Sacrament
Villanova over Robert Morris
Yes, I always pick at least 2 Number 9 seeds, because they always have something to prove. Sorry my fellow South Carolinians, but none of the three teams make it into Round 2. I almost picked Clemson, but they have a track record here that leaves something to be desired... the fun starts Thursday, so find that internet TV station, act like you're working, and enjoy !!!!
