With all apologies to the SC Real Estate Blog, we have some news that those of you in your 30's or 40's, with about $5 million extra sitting around might find interesting. Come to think of it, we might as well just e-mail this to Thomas Ravenel now....
It's scary when you do two Kevin Costner-related blog posts in a week, but we just report the news - we don't make it. The owners of the Dyersville, Iowa farm featured in the 1989 classic, Field of Dreams, are putting the house up for sale. It comes complete with the farmhouse, a few adjoining building, all 297 acres, and the ballfield that is still manicured. Although the asking price of $27000 and acre is way higher than the average $4500 for an Iowa cornfield, there is a bit of a kitsch factor: the farm is still one of Iowa's biggest attractions, getting 65,000 visitors a year. People WILL come, Ray...... although the owners never charged the $20 that Terrance Mann suggested. At this kind of coin, we suspect the new owners might have to, or the place will go into foreclosure....
On a side note, we just remembered that the Amityville Horror house is now up for sale as well for an asking price of $1.3 million, which is about the going rate for Long Island waterfront property - quite a hike from the 80K the Lutz's paid for it - before the voices screaming 'Get Out', the flies, the blood in the walls, and the pig in the windows. We'll make it easier for you - it just depends on whether you prefer this:
