Free George the Lobster !!!

Remember... If That Lobster's Red, That Lobster's Dead .
Time for a feel good story - provided that the story is dipped in melted butter! A massive 20 pound lobster that was ready to be part of the menu at the City Crab and Seafood in New York City was freed. I'm not a big lobster fan, so this didn't hurt my feelings at all. Now, if it they let a Chicken Parmigiana go free......
Yep, George the Lobster, as he is known, would have pulled a $540 price tag at the restaurant, was freed and dropped back into the Atlantic Ocean near Kennebunkport, Maine, in an area where lobster trapping is illegal. Word is he is hanging out at the Bush compound with Bush 41 and Babs..
How did this all happen? Once again, you can thank the good people at PETA, who found George in the tank, and requested that they let the 140 year old crustacean go free. I'm not sure about how you can tell the age of a lobster, but I have two theories: One, you cut open the lobster's claw and count the rings. Or two, the lobster had his birth certifcate on him....
But , George is safe and back in the ocean, free to live out his days in safety and anonymity. He might have it a lot better down there. Need proof? Don't take my word for it.....

I would comment on this story, but I'mm loading up the boat and headed to Kennebunkport. Trapping may be illegal, but what about diving for lobsters?

I think it is much more honest to eat what you just saw living - sticking your head in the sand about life and death doesn't help anyone but yourself.

For instance, I have more respect for someone who hunts and kills and eats their own meat, even though I wouldn't want to do it (but would if I had to), than someone who buys a package in a supermarket (like me).

Let's face it - there's not a nice way to die, and the earth is an imperfect place. God put animals here for us to eat.

As for worrying about how they are killed, far worse goes on in slaughterhouses than in a seafood restaurant with a lobster tank. This is why I try to buy organic/free range meat, by companies committed to humane slaughter.

If you don't like the idea of them being steamed or boiled, tell them you want them broiled; they dispatch them with a quick knife in the thorax.

People need to grow up a little.

Oh yeah, and PETA is a den of childish, maladjusted, wrong-headed, misanthropic lunatics.

And worst of all, they are hypocrites of the highest order:
