Yeah, US Airways has a lot of work on their hands after the crash earlier this week in New York. For starters, all of the passengers lost their belongings in the icy, brackish waters of the Hudson River. They're getting to resolving it ASAP, by giving the passengers $5000 each to replace their personal items.
We just hope that is just startup money, because guess what? That is a spit in the ocean of what they'll have to compensate them. Surviving a plane crash is worse than being killed in many respects. I'm not an attorney, but I know at least one of them is, and he's a pretty good one. I would assume that there are a lot of people who are having some PTSD issues, and some one will have to pay for it. This is a job for P-Luv.. If you were an ambulance chaser, is this gold ?

You're going to have a hard time claiming negligence. I did hear an interesting item about how they safety test these engines. They use an air cannon to shoot dead birds into the turbines. But they only have to be rated to handle 4 lb birds or something like that. I suppose if you could prove they knew that was insufficient.
But you sure as hell ain't gonna prove any kind of negligence against the pilot.
If they're smart, they offer to cover any and all medical bills related to the accident. And you don't skimp on it. One of these folks comes up 10 years from now and all of a sudden needs treatment for some depression, you pay it. Call it the cost of doing business.
I called Jackie Chiles, and he said this was better than any case he ever had with Kramer...
That would be a fair settlement, but I can see a suit from Corporate trying to ste a cap $$ or time wise on anything...
If you think about it, they should be smart with this. They announce these folks are taken care of and give Sully a big ass salary as the new head of piloting safety or something like that and this could be a boon to them.
Who the hell wouldn't want to fly in a plane where the pilot was personally ok'd by the great Sully?
It could be a big advantage for them. Sully is a star - how many stars are there in the airline biz? I remember Eastern used to have that astronaut...
isn't US Air the only airline that has never lost a passsenger on a flight? This could be a plus to add to that.
I flew over 120 flights on U S Airways last year yes I am a Chairman Prefered. The only thing I got was a free pass for the lounge and then you have to pay for your liquor.
