First we lost Bernie Mac yesterday, now today we learn of the passing of music legend Isaac Hayes. He was found dead at his home next to his treadmill, so it appears he had a heart attack. he was 65. Bad news usually comes in threes, so i'm wondering when the last shoe will drop, although one of the three is usually someone close. Hope I'm wrong....
How you know Hayes depends likely on how old you are. I am just old enough that I remember his singing the theme song for the movie 'Shaft'. Hayes' funk, bald head , sunglasses and deep, soulful "That Shaft, he's one bad mother.. - Shut yo mouth !!" made him a 70's fixture.
However, if you're a bit younger, you know Hayes as the voice of Chef from South Park. It's rare that a guy makes such a comeback after 20 years, but he pulled it off. So, in tribute, here's a link to his hit song from South Park, 'Chocolate Salty Balls'.....
