Obama Moves Towards the Center...

Is That Bush? Who Took My Liberal Democrat Away ???
You know I'm a Republican, but like all of you guys, I am an American first. I wouldn't ever want my country to go down the toilet at the betterment of my own political party. I'm not sure the Democratic leadership has always felt that way, but that's my opinion, and it's up to debate. I didn't vote for Barack Obama, because I felt his track record was very liberal and too big government for me to believe all of his promises to cut taxes and other things. Past performance is the best indicator of future actions, right?
Now, I'm not sure if Obama always thought this way, or if he took a look at everything when he won, and realized the true downside of 'Change', but he seems to have made a decided move towards the center that flies in the face of almost everything that he has done previously. Good for him.
Maybe DC is getting pretty boring, or that a lot of people realize the significance of being involved in this administration, but Obama seems to be attracting an All-Star lineup in his cabinet: Clinton, Daschle, Napolitano, Bill Richardson - who I felt was the best Democratic candidate all along. Yeah, that's a lot of big names, and some big egos there to go with it. But with it, there is a shift to the center along with it.
While that is definitely a good thing, there is the possibility of conflict with the decidedly more liberal House of Representatives. Nancy Pelosi has her own list of priorities, and they don't all jive with Obama's new , more conservative agenda: Iraq, S-CHIP, Gays in the Military, Health Care, Equal Pay, Guantanamo. The chance of the Democrats gridlocking themselves is a possibility.
But there are a couple topics that Pelosi and Obama agree on, and that needs to be Pelosi's focus: The Economy , stupid. That, and Energy Policy. Those two are enough, don't you think. Pelosi needs to keep her own ego in check, realize that Obama is President, she is just Speaker of the House. Fix the economy , develop a long term energy policy, and forget about all the stupid social issues. America doesn't like government telling them how to live from either side.....
Has Obama seen the light now that he's ready to take the Hot Seat? Maybe. We'll see... Often when we make ourselves out to be the firebrand, and we finally get there, we realize that maybe 'Little Change' is something we can believe in more...

not that Obama can do anything about this, but the new crime statistics came out today...per capita, Sumter #5, Florence #6 and Myrtle Beach #14 for worst cities for crime in the nation. Go SC! Were gonna rape, steal from and kill everybody!

You tell him, G. Boy. You report crime, it makes it look worse. Trust me, there is no way that Long Island is one of the safest places in America to live.

Change can be good if it does not take away the moral values.
