OOPS Must Mean "I'm Losing $2 Billion a Month"....
Hearing about GM, Ford, Chrysler and the UAW beg Congress to bail them out of their 30 year mistake was pretty sick. I was thinking that maybe we should assist them if they could reorganize and have a gameplan to be the 3rd and 4th biggest carmakers - but be profitable. But it doesn't sound like that is Detroit's plan. In short, everyone in America knows that Detroit's best days are over, and they need to prepare for reality - but they still don't get it.
After relying on gas guzzlers for too long, making substandard quality cars, and paying barely skilled workers an equivalent of $78.00 an hour, their day of reckoning has come. Congress has already set up a $25 billion loan to help Detroit develop more fuel-efficient cars in the future. What Congress needs to do it let them go into Chapter 11 bankruptcy, reorganize, renegotiate with the UAW - how about half the salary, and half the total jobs to start? - and run a smaller, leaner and meaner company. But, the unions have paid a lot of money to the Democrats, and they want a return on their investment. God help us all.....
