SC6 Analyzes The Divisional Round ...

Tom Brady & The Pats Battle the Jets ....

Well, Round One is over in the NFL Playoffs... Some of the wannabes have been knocked out - not all, but most.  As for us, we went 2-2 ..... Bad Saturday (0-2), great Sunday (2-0).  We didn't make any stupid picks (did anyone actually pick the Seahawks?), and the Colts/Jets was a tossup.  Round Two is where the men are separated from the boys - both in the actual games, and in the prognostications. Onto the picks!

Baltimore at Pittsburgh
Where to go on this one?  Every game between these two is a three point battle to the end. Defense will reign as usual.  Pittsburgh confuses us a bit this year. They usually put together a Super Bowl run every three to four years, and they have been the luckiest team in the NFL this year... Meanwhile, the Ravens were solid against KC last week, and the weather will likely neutralize the only gamebreaker around, The Steelers' Mike Wallace.  the Ravens are for real this year, and Joe Flacco doesn't get scared in road playoff games (4-2).  Ravens 13-10.

Green Bay at Atlanta
If there were any justice for Falcons fans, they'd be kicking Seattle's ass all over the Georgia Dome this weekend.  Instead, they pllay the team no one wants to face... The Packers' D has been solid, but the fast turf inside will be a challenge, and we're starting to think Green Bay's offense is a bit overrated. Points wins games, and the Pack has had scoring trouble. This could be the Falcons' year - at least to get to Dallas.  Falcons  24-17.

Seattle at Chicago
The Giants will watch this game kicking themselves after spanking BOTH of these teams..... Matt Hasselbeck was lights out last week. It all ends this weekend.  Chicago's D is solid, and Jay Cutler is good enough to get past Seattle's weak secondary, although the running game is more important. Thanks for playing, Seahawks!  Chicago  31-13.

New York Jets at New England
Yeah, we're swimming in Jet green up here this week... Rex Ryan was smart to try and make the game about him and Bill Belichick. That's because his team is slightly inferior to the Patriots this year.  The Pats are on a roll, while the Jets still are trying to get 60 solid offensive minutes in a game.  We don't think the Pats D is special, but Tom Brady and the offense will far outplay Mark Sanchez and LaDainian Tomlinson.  We did try to put a hex on the Pats by using his pick (a photo almost guarantees a loss here), but talent wins in the end.  Patriots 30-17.

Sorry man. Weather is not going neutralize anything. It is about mistakes. The turnover battle will decide in this one.
Offense: If Flacco turns over the ball, the team won't score. Against the D of the Steelers he will do well if there is no pass rush. Big Ben has a problem. Heinze is no longer the receiver he was and Wallace is still young. Rolling out and running will give opportunity for open receivers.
Defense: It comes down to who can win with turnovers. I would look to see the Ravens throw a lot to Heap. I'm sure they've watch the tapes of the Pats killing the Steelers.
Really, these two are even with Baltimore seemingly always winning with the stats except where it counts. Unlike the Chiefs game where the Chiefs gave away the game, the Steelers are experienced and ready and won't give up. The O-line of the Steelers need to protect.
I look for each team rushing for around 90 yards at most. I see the passing yards in the low to upper 200s depending on the turnovers and whether or not the score is close going into the 3rd quarter.
Right now I am leaning towards the Steelers winning 20-17. A little more evaluation and it could change.
