This Is How Far America Has Fallen Behind...

Need proof that America is doomed in the future? Look no further.... Here is a clip I got from Tom, everyone's Best Friend at MySpace. It's a kid singing that Beatles classic 'Hey Jude'.
What's the big deal? Well for starters, he's still in diapers, so he's no more than 3 years old. the other problem? HE'S FRIGGIN' KOREAN !!! He's a toddler that sings songs in a foreign language with no accent !! In America, we don't even try to teach kids a new language until they're 12 or 13 - when they don't care anymore....
It's pretty funny and cute, but when you take a second to think about it, it gives you the feeling that America may have already seen it's best days....

The Curse of Reino Strikes Again !!!

What Does Roger Clemens' Downfall Have to Do With My Dog? More Than You Might Think ......
I have some bad juju , my friends... If I were you guys, I'd avoid me like the plague. Why? Because everything that is associated with me, even on a secondary level, is cursed. Need proof? Right after I got hired by a Roy Rogers restaurant, Roy died. I bought my first Les Paul guitar, then Les died a week later. Then there's Roger Clemens......
If you've been reading SC6 for awhile, you've met my dog, Rocket. How did I get the name? Well, Bobby got his brother at the same time, and he named his dog Ripken, after Cal Ripken - probably the greatest ambassador has ever had. So, I thought I'd name him after a baseball player too. Being a Yankee fan, it had to be a Yankee. So I decided on Rocket. It had the same letter as Ripken, it sounded cool, and he was a Yankee. At the time , Clemens' reputation was pretty spotless - he was a surefire Hall of Famer, and he seemed happily married back then. Keep in mind, this was only a year ago.
Almost immediately after gettign Rocket, Clemens' world started to fall apart. Steroids, testifying before Congress, looking bad on 60 Minutes, not getting resigned, and now details of a decade long affair with singer Mindy McCready , and McCready is not denying a word of it. Roger is definitely up Shit Creek folks - and it may be all my fault.
If would have named my dog Jeter, a National Enquirer article on Derek would probably have come out that he was a gay terrorist - and that he corked his bat. I'm going to re-name Rocket to save face for him. From now on, call him Hillary Obama....

Recognize This 'American Hero' ?

When I got back to Hilton Head Sunday night, I found this doll on the coffee table. I couldn't recognize who it was, but the tag read 'American Hero'.... After a few minutes, I figured out who it was - John Kerry !!
Yep. Kerry, or as my brother Matt referred to him as "that guy who ran for President", got abused a little back in 2004 for his Swift Boat episode, and part of it was a doll. Lil Kerry even has a button that plays Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" when pressed.
Four years ago, he was goin gto be the answer to America's prayers - now most can't even remember his name. How quickly they forget.............

SC6's Hidden Pleasure: Jamie, the Hudson Nissan Girl.

What exactly am I talking about with hidden pleasures? It's something not everyone gets to take advantage of, and one that you might not tell your friends about. Well, I'll share this one with you. Say hi to Jamie Simpson, the Hudson Nissan Girl...

I first saw her when Matt got cable TV, and I could start watching Channel 5 in Charleston again. Hudson Nissan used to be Northside Nissan, and Jamie does the ads for them. I'm not positive, but I think she's from the Upstate originally. Like most people from SC, she's made it to the big time... She's now in Atlanta, where she is on TBS' Movie and a Makeover, and she even has her own marketing company - smart girl. Before you get too excited, let me burst your bubble..... she's married. Dammit !

What makes Jamie so cool? Aside from her obvious sexiness, she's a little goofy. She delivers the commercials with a little giggliness - you swear she;s almost gonna start laughing during the ads. But, it does make her a bit more believeable. After all, this IS just a car dealership - it's not life and death. Don't tell my bosses I said that. I get to see Jamie every morning, right before I go to work, and I seem to be more chipper when I get there. It's that combo of cuteness and aloofness that i find almost irresistable, and honestly, she reminds me a lot of someone I miss alot - that other Southern Princess, Ms. X.

If you want to use Jamie or any of her spokespeople, stop by her website, http://www.jamiesimpsonmarketing.com/

here is a YouTube clip I found of here for a dealer in Nowhere, Ohio.

Here's a couple more shameless pics of Jamie.....

Why Hillary Clinton Is Bad For New York...

Curse of the Bambino? How About the Curse of Hillary Clinton ??
For those of you who have read this blog for awhile, you know I am a lifelong New York Yankees fan - the same back at you, buddy!! Anyway, being a fan, I have been very fortunate over my lifetime as far as my team's success goes. However, it has been 8 years now since the Yankees took home a championship. In Derek Jeter terms, that's like 150 years.....
To be honest, I don't think this will be the season the streak ends. They just don't have the pitching. Knowing that, I thought about how things got here - what happened to change things. The Yanks had won 4 of the last 5 titles, and suddenly, something happened in November 2000..... Hillary Clinton was elected Senator of New York.
Hey, if the Red Sox can blame 86 years of futility on trading Babe Ruth to pay for a stupid play, then I can blame this drought on the voters of New York electing a woman who never lived a day of her life in their state. That being the case, there is only one thing we Americans can do to end this - Hillary Clinton must be elcted President. It's the only thing I can think of to fix this.
It's no surprise that out country is in a state flux when such things you can depend on just aren't happening. The recession of '91 and '92 - remember how crappy those Yankee teams were? Now the Yankees seem to be pretty average, and SURPRISE - the economy is starting to sputter again. In it's simplest terms, as the Yankees go, so goes America.
If you want America to truly be at it's best, you need to do two things. Get Hillary out of the Senate. This will allow the Yankees to win again, thus causing America to get out of the recession. It's all related.... It the Circle of Life.

Engineers Are Schmucks, and Here's the Proof.

Ever have to deal with an engineer in business? I have. Generally speaking, they are the worst profession to deal with as customers. Why? Two reasons: First they, don't think, they KNOW they are smarter than you. Secondly, and more to the point, is that they don't believe anything you say, no matter how steeped in fact it may be. You need to scientifically prove to an engineer why things are the way they are. Want to piss an engineer off? Tell them 'that's just how it is'. Watch them turn purple......

This is soemthing I got e-mailed. It's a check to Verizon Wireless from an engineer who had to show how smart he was. The dollar amount came to 536.49, but the putz had to put the amount in algebraic terms. So, the guy's smart enough to know Pi, but he's too stupid to pay his phone bill for at least 4-5 months !!

Kids Fighting to the Death For Candy? It's Must Be the Striped Bass Festival !

Greetings from downtown Manning, SC !! I just got back from my third Striped Bass Festival Parade. The weather was pretty nice (just a tad warm), and the place was PACKED with people. At the end of the parade, the crowd was 5 or 6 people deep. Not bad for a local parade.

I came down with 6th District Chair Tommy Grimes, and Tom was a busy guy today. On the parade, we drove with Moye and Bobby and Jean-Claire Gibbons. About halfway through, we saw SC Legislature candidate Britton Pruett, who had already gone through once. So, we threw her in, slapped the car magnet on the side, and whammo! She took a second trip. No one said politics was fair.......

The funniest part of the day had to be the Obama booth. Apparently, the kids at Manning High School were asked to volunteer at the Festival. What a lot of them didn't know was that they would be working at Barack Obama's booth. Many left, and some parents wouldn't even let their kids work there. It would be interesting to see who's idea this was, and what relation they have to the campaign. I was going to get volunteers from the local Senior Center to work for John McCain, but I was overruled. Here's some pics..

Green Dragons are cool....

Quality Is In the Eye of the Beholder.

The Honda Accord Is a Winner, But It's Brother the Acura Is a P.O.S. ??

Quality. What is good. Like in politics, we each judge a car's quality individually. But it is funny how our eyes can fool us. Very often, we see two things that are similar in almost every way, but one is judge superior - often on name alone.

I read a Consumer Reports article today, the topic being their readers reviews of different cars, and their quality. Get ready for a big surprise.... Toyota and Honda were viewed as the highest in quality. Toyota got a total score of 189, Honda got a 140. Ford finished third (112 pts.), and Chevrolet came in fourth with 110 points. The oddities are how the same cars built by these manufacturers finished much lower.

While Honda finished second, it's Acura brand finished dead last, with a paltry score of 8. Mercury had the 4th lowest score of 22, and Buick barely beat that with a 25. What's the odd part? Aside from minimal trim and badge stuff, an Acura is a Honda, A Buick is a Chevrolet, and a Mercury is a Ford !!! Same engines, same bodies, just a different emblem on the hood !!

I know Moye drives a Buick, and I doubt he'd give it a 25, or trade it in for a Chevrolet.. So what's the reason they get worse scores? Perception. Consumers get used to a brand, and even if the quality is improved, most of them still view it as crap. Mercury, Buick and Acura have a huge uphill climb. Brands like Hyundai often beat Mercedes-Benz in customer satisfaction and quality, but put them next to each other, and we all know which one you'd take home.

Want to see how your car did? Here's the link:

Congressional Power Rankings: House Majority Whip Clyburn Is Only Number 30 ??

Deer Park, That's Good Water.. Call Him House Majority Jipped !!
I was taking a trip along Congress.org - the top info directory on Congress, when I came across a most interesting tidbit. The Power Rankings.
They rank all 535 members of the House and Senate, based upon their influence, ability to pass legislation, and a slew of other data. Now, it is pretty standardfor many of them. Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the Top Dog - pun intended. Majority Leader Steny Hoyer is No. 2 , so one would think that Majority Whip Jim Clyburn would be Number 3, right? Not quite. He isn't number 3, or number 4 , or 5, or even Number 10. He's Number 30. Yep, thirty - three zero !!
It might be a bit understandable that he's behind crucial committee chairs like Charlie Rangel, David Obey, Harvey Waxman and John Conyers. After all, Clyburn has never had a chairman or key leaership position on any committee, except for heading the Congressional Black Caucus. But, he beat Rahm Emanuel for the Whip spot last year, and Emanuel is ahead of him (No. 10). He's even behind useless mouthpieces like John Murtha (13th) , Maxine Waters (18th), and my favorite hyphnated Congresswoman, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (24th).
How can a guy whose sole job is to organize the party to unite on their votes, be ranked so low? Well, it looks like his influence is not as high as he would like to believe. It makes sense. After all, the Democrats have been unable to really do much in the 1 1/2 years since they assumed command of the Capitol. It appears that his failure in that job has caused him to drop to a position much lower than he should be.
Knowing Clyburn's lack of experience in actual leadership seems to be showing. How did he get the job then. My guess is that , much like Greg Brady getting the Johnny Bravo gig - he fit the outfit. More bluntly, he fit the Democrats rainbow leadership goal than others who may have done a better job. They had the woman, the white guy, the hispanic, and they needed an African-American to complete the coalition. Clyburn , having more ambition than Lucifer, gladly shopped for and accepted the job.
It was pretty stunning to me to see Jim ranked so low, but Congress.org is an independent group. No doubt Clyburn ranks himself a lot higher than that - but he's always had an exaggerated sense of self. Just another example of him making himslef out to be more important than he actually is.

Want to hang Out With Your Favorite Political Blogger? Then Come Out to the Striped Bass Festival In Manning This Saturday.

They Ain't Great Eating, But They Sure Are Pretty....
Want to do soemthign different this weekend? Go to a local festival. There's lots of food, plenty to do and see, and it's soemthing DIFFERENT !! I'll be down in Manning for the Striped Bass Festival this Saturday.
I'll be in the parade for the second time - my first was in 2005, when I went with Bobby ad Snoop, and I tossed out about 500 Mike Reino for Congress pens. I still have about 1000 left - you never know when I might need them again... Overall, I think is my third or fourth parade here.
Manning does it right. They have tractor pulls and mud bogs, boat flotillas, music and the festival, and it's stretched out all over the county. The weather is suppose to be pretty nice. The hottest and the coldest days I've spent in SC were both at the Striped Bass Festival, so 82 degrees and sunny should go over great.... Hope to see you there.

Pennsylvania Recap: Hillary's Last Dance.

Hillary Is Still THAT FAR Behind........
Tie for parting thoughts on Pennsylvania. First, I was pretty close - alot closer than I usually am. I thought Clinton would win by 12, so ten pts isn't a bad call. Now, should Hillary fans be getting excited, and Obama rooters get worried? Nope.
I had to explain it all to Charles at work. He's 24, he's black, and he LOVES Obama. There was no way Clinton was going to lose Pennsylvania. It is a tailor made state for her. How? Let's count the ways.. Pennsylvania is:
Old
90% White
Union
Her Dad Was Born There.
Obama Isn't the Right Fit.
Despite all of this, Obama still managed to cut about 15 points off od her lead, and it looks like she'll only get a net gain of about 9-10 delegates. That is way too little ground to make up. The way the Dems award delegates makes it almost impossible for Clinton to catch up. If there were winner take all primaries - like the General Election, and the way the GOP does it - she might have some chance. But they don't, and the sand is about out of the hour glass for Hillary.
The primaries are not like Boxing, where you can get your butt kicked for 11 rounds, then deck your opponent with one mighty swing at the very end. It's more like Horse Racing. If you're 10 lengths behind at the final pole, you're going to lose - no matter how fast you're running at the end. Yeah, it'll go to the convention, and Clinton will try to show that she wins the big states to attract delegates, but she has no more gift states for her, like Pennsylvania was. Each will be a dogfight, and Obama has shown that he can close almost any gap by primary day.
Enjoy the win, Hillary. It's probably going to be your last one.......

Breaking Local News.... Florence County Official Indicted for Embezzlement of Funds.

Just off the news wire..... Florence County Voter Registration director Michael Young will be indicted for embezzlement. It's a little different than your usual public official skimming money. Young was retired from the railroad (probbaly CSX), and he collected more than $40,000 in disability benefits from them, while working on the Voter Registration and Elections Commission Board , and having a voting machine consulting business - all at the same time. Young sure was busy......
I don't know Mr. Young. I dealt with Russell Barrett at the elections board when he was director. Barrett was a top notch guy, and he even won an honor as the best elections board director in the state. It looks like we took a step back with his successor. Sure, he didn't cheat taxpayers, but we need more honesty from our public officials.

Happy Earth Day and National Administrative Professionals (NOT Secretary) Day !!

Happy Earth Day, which is also what would have been my Mom's 80th birthday ! Today is when we take 1/365th of our lives to focus on making the Earth a better place. About the only thing environment-related that I could think of was to put $30 of gas in my tank - hey, it was PAST the E.... I had to gas up !!!

Anyway, try to do something green today to help the earth last a day longer before she burns up from something else....

SC6 Consumer - Babe Alert. The Gorilla Gripper.

The Gorilla Gripper - Nice Tool, Even Nicer Chick in the Commercial.....
Judging by the lack of comments on the last few posts, none of you are interested in discovering how much of a crook their Congressman may be. Fine. I'm here to entertain you guys, so I'll take it back to what you like - Tools and Hot Girls...
Ever have a problem picking up drywall or plywood, especially by yourself? Of course you have. Well, those days are over, thanks to the Gorilla Gripper. It makes lifting that crap nice and easy. In fact, even the babe in the ad can do it herself. Check it out.....

SC6 Investigates, Part 3: Who Is Fulbright & Jaworski, And What Do They Want From Jim?

On to Part 3... We've already discussed how Jim Clyburn has lost his popularity as far as donations go, and how some companies seem to be in a quid pro quo agreement with the Clyburn Camp . Today, we have a combination of the two.....

I bring you Fulbright & Jaworski of New York City. Who are they? They're a law firm, actually based in numerous areas worldwide, but we are focusing on the New York office, becaus that's where the stink is coming from. F&J has many specialities, but the New York branch is listed as such. " The New York office serves a broad client base including large publicly-held corporations, investment banking and brokerage firms, venture capital and leveraged buy-out firms, investment funds, private equity and institutional investors, life science, high-technology and other emerging growth companies, privately-held companies, partnerships, individuals, estates and charitable organizations and foundations. "

So, in short, they are a law firm that represents Big Business. Go to their website, and it's pretty surprising at some of their work: NYSE, SEC and NASD Investigation protection, Discrimination and Sexual Harrassment suit defense, EEOC and NLRB law for businesses. So, they essentially are exactly NOT what Clyburn has spent his entire career fighting for - or at least what he SAYS he's fighting for. Sounds a bit hypocritical, don't you think?

How much support has Clyburn received from F&J? Well, he got doantions from 19 , YES 19.. different attorneys from F&J - all from the New York office. Of them, almost NONE of them has EVER donated money to a federal level candidate, except for an occasional NY Senator or two.

So, what does a big NY Law Firm want from a Congressman from rural South Carolina? Sorry to let you down a bit on this one, but I don't know. I don't have the tools to find this one, but I can tell when something stinks worse than the Fulton Fish Market!! Maybe The State or a local TV station can take a few minutes out of their busy schedule, and ask Clyburn a rare probing question... Like a good St. Bernard, I can only take you to the frozen guy in the Alps, dig a small hole, then start barking.

WOOF, WOOF, WOOF !!

Here's Some Signs That the Economy Isn't As Bad As You May Think..

Cheer up, folks! The sky is not falling, we are not in a major ecenomic recession, especially here in the Palmetto State. Let's give you a couple examples, one on the national level, and another locally.

The juggernaut that is Google continues on, exceeding expectations by grossing $5.1 B , and making a net profit of $1.3 this past quarter. It's no surprise... Use me as an example. My blog is part of a subsidiary of Google, and like most people, I search almost everything with Google. The news sent Google stock to jump 17% in a day to $525 a share. Pretty hefty, yes, but it is still making money at a record pace.

While blaming other countries may be an easy target for job losses, the fact is that only 3% of all losses are due to exporting of labor. Most of them are from domestic failures, and they eventually get replaced by another expanding business that innovates and succeeds. And that's what is going on here in Florence.

The SC Dept of Labor announced that the unemployemnt rate in Florence County has dropped to 5.9% - about 3 full points less than a year ago. The work by business and local government to make Florence a more attractive place to build a business has succeeded, and the area is now reaping the benefits.

So, instead of being negative all the time, we need to realistically look at how things are, and just focus on how to fix the little problems, and not magnify them for political gain. Things are okay - not pefect, but okay. Employment is decent, except for a few overpriced areas, the real estate market is solid. If we can figure out how to lower gas prices, I think we'd be in pretty good shape.

SC6 Investigates: Which SC Businesses Are Suddenly Giving Money and Why..

Welcome to Part 2 of our series on Jim Clyburn: Congressman For Sale . Yesterday, we showed how 97% of Clyburn's donation came from outisde his own district. While it says a lot, even we will admit that many politicians in DC raise most of their money outside of their district. Maybe not to the extent that Clyburn does, but we'll cut him some slack on that. Our next installment will not be so forgiving.....
We know that Democrats live off of the donations from every union in America, and that most major companies have PAC's that pay every man and woman in DC. However, when there are examples of quid pro quo , where corporations that have NEVER donated to someone suddenly do so, then get a major government related contract, questions need to be asked. And we found a few of them...
Silver Companies
This is a Fredricksburg, Va (read, DC Area) based development company, who after never having given a dollar to Clyburn, donated $10,000 last year. Silver Companies now has approval for Bella Vita, a large planned community near Hwy 501 and Carolina Bays Pkwy in Myrtle Beach. Why? We're not 100% sure on this one, but with Clyburn's ties to Burroughs & Chapin, there leaves some room for speculation..
GMK Associates
GMK is a Columbia-based architechtural firm , specializing in university related construction. Among the places they have worked on is the Koger Center, USC, Clemson, College of Charleston, MUSC, Francis Marion University and USC-Aiken. Where is the tie-in? Well, after sereptisously adding SC State onto the TEA-21 Highway Bill for the James Clyburn School of Transportation, there is going to be a lot of cash flying around the Orangeburg campus, and GMK wants their share. On May 20, 2007, nine members of the GMK management all donated $1000 each to Clyburn - and with the exception of CEO Bruce Barragan, who donated to Clyburn once in 1998, none of them have EVER donated to a candidate on any federal level.
This group makes up 16% of all the total 6th District donations for Clyburn, all on the same day. Did they all suddenly realize Clyburn was a great man worthy of their money at the same time? I doubt it... This is an old-fashioned grease job, and the money we are talking about is not small potatoes. GMK is currently working on 21 projects totalling over $200 million.
Fluor Corporation
Unless you are blind, connecting the dots on this one is easy. Clyburn and the Dallas, TX company go way back. Fluor is an engineering, construction and maintenance services company. Clyburn used them to pad the info on his Bridge to Nowhere feasibility study. If I made bridges, I suppose I'd say that they needed a bridge too. But that was nothing compared to what they got this year.
Flour Corporation is Clyburn's Number 1 donor, having donated over $20,000 to his campaign to date. In January of this year, Flour won a US Dept. of Energy contract to manage and operate the Savannah River Nuclear Site for the next five years, with a series of renewals that could double the contract. The amount of the contract? A guaranteed $4 Billion dollars, and double that if the full contract is extended. That is one hell of a return on investment, don't you think?
Even though SRS isn't in his district, we know that Clyburn is a huge supporter of SRS - and the directors at SRS definitely pay him back in donations. However, when a corporation suddenly skyrockets to being your top donor, and then they get a multi-billion dollar contract, it's a clear sign that something is rotten in Denmark. Is Fluor the best guy for the job? I don't know. Could someone else have done it? Probably. But why bother with the donations? Voters will have no problem with their Congressman coming out and saying "I support these guys, we need them, and I'll do whatever I can to help them." Just leave the money out.
Clearly, something is broken with Clyburn, and with Washington in general. If the companies could just keep themselves from trying to buy off Congress - and if politicians would just NOT TAKE THE MONEY - we might believe that peole like Clyburn are for sale.....
Coming up next... Part 3: Who is Fulbright & Jaworski, and what do they want?

SC6 Investigates: Your Congressman Has Run Amok, And He May Be For Sale...

SC6 Unveils a Three Part Series on the Jim Clyburn Campaign Finances

I stole this picture from Palmetto Scoop, I have to admit. If I saw it sooner, I probably would have used it earlier. It's time for me to not focus on all the fluff that I've been writing about lately. I read the Press Release from Linda Ketner about her fundraising , so I decided to check up on our buddy Jim to see how he's been doing. Let's say Jim has been a busy beaver. A VERY BUSY BEAVER.......

For the next few days, I'm going to sound a lot like Sunny Philips. We're going to take a real hard look at the numbers... How much is coming in, where it's coming from, why, and what the donors want from Clyburn. Granted, the people running against Clyburn should be the ones doing this, but as 6th District Vice Chair, I'll get the ball rolling for them. I won't have all the answers, but I've got a ton of questions that maybe the MSM can take from here. After all, I've a day job...

We have two suceeding parts coming up:

Part 2: Which SC Businesses Suddenly Are Giving Money and Why.

Part 3: Who Is Fulbright & Jaworski, and What Do They Want.

But first, our beginning installment:

Part 1: Jim Clyburn, Not the 6th District's Candidate Financially.

If you're interested to verify the numbers, feel free to go the the FEC website, or you can go to OpenSecrets.com .. The first thing you'll notice is how much more Clyburn is raising since his promotion. Where he used to raise 500,000 to $1 Million, he has already raised $2.1 million this election cycle. Sure, he's more important now, so the numbers are going to jump some, but this is pretty startling.

More importantly than the totals is to take a close look at the numbers themselves. True to form, Jim has raised over $1.3 million from PAC's - about twice as much as he has gotten from John Q. Citizen. But what about the 6th District ??

It's pretty pathetic. Clyburn had a grand total of 54 donors come from his home district. Yep, 54. That's about 1 in every 12,000 citizens. Nine of those donors came from one company !! Combined, they gave a total of $62,250, so a paltry 3% of all his donations came from his home district. That puts his total a tick above fringe District 2 candidate George Lotz. To show even more how pathetic his home showing is, I included all donors from Charleston, Columbia, Orangeburg and Sumter - all of which are split between two or more districts, so there is a real possibility that even more of that cash crossed district lines. And what about my home town? Not a single donor. NOT ONE....

So where are the donations coming from ? The DC circuit is no surprise ($206k), but how about Miami ($38k), Chicago ($35k) and ...get ready.... New York ($36k). Who in NY is donating? Stay tuned.... Perhaps Jim would be better off moving to the First District - after all, he raised more than $81k from his buddies at Burroughs & Chapin, with whom he was tied in a business partnership with Benedict Shogaolu, the deposed head of the Myrtle Beach Transit system.

So what does this tell us? That Jim Clyburn , like most DC insiders, has become distracted from the responsibilities of his district, and has has lost the trust and confidence of the voters he represents. There are a lot of questions that need to be asked, and we intend to ask them. For those professionals who get paid to do this, maybe they'll read this, and take it from there....

Obama Fatigue Sets In for Pennsylvanians...

Obama Fatigue: An overall sense of tiredness and malaise, due to overexposure of Barack Obama commercials...

The CDC has issued a bulletin of a localized epidemic..... Obama Fatigue has officially set in in Pennsylvania. Yes, thousands of prospective voters are vomiting, turning green and have a state of melancholy in the Keystone State. The cause? Long term exposure to Barack Obama commercials on local TV.

We know all about Obama Fatigue, or Romney Fatigue or John Edwards Fatigue, depending on what state you live in. After raising millions of dollars, campaigns buy literally ALL available airtime on local TV prior to a Primary or Caucus.. In South Carolina, we had a pretty annoying three weeks before our Primary. Well, in Pennsylvania, they've had to endure seven weeks of this crap - no wonder they're bitter !!!

Sure, Obama has the money for it, and the ads do work initially... But eventually, advertising hits a certain point that it just becomes blabber - and it looks like it is there. The flood of ads got him to close the gap, but with three days to go, it appears to be just wasting money at this time. Of course, there is no such thing as wasting money in politics - you can justify any spending....

Kudos to Andre Bauer For Doing the Right Thing..

Time to give credit where it is due... Last month, we had our 6th Congressional District Convention in Orangeburg. Part of the convention is to choose local delegates to the National Convention in Minneapolis. One of the candidates was Lt. Governor Andre Bauer. At the time , I expressed my feeling that Bauer, nor any statewide officeholder, should be on the ballot, and that local people should be voted in.
Not all of the participants felt that way. Even though Bauer did say they didn't have to vote for him, they did. No problem at all to me. It was my opinion, and the majority didn't agree with me. So be it.... But the argument must have had an effect on Andre.
After getting back to Florence last night, I checked my mail, and in it was a letter from Andre. Apparently, he had decided to forgoe his selection, and instead, he will run at the statewide convention in May. That's a pretty classy move, considering that he had a guaranteed seat based on the vote. For all of the cheap shots taken at Andre over the years, what he did was a very good thing. Someone local will now be at the convention - probably for the first time - and taking part in the electoral process.
It also means Moye will now have a guaranteed seat in Minneapolis. As for Andre, he has SC6's full endorsement for selection at the statewide convention. Good Luck ! This also just in.....Moye has just donated $10,000 to the Andre Bauer campaign... Kidding.

Our Greatest Generation Indeed.. Even the Movie Stars Were Cooler Than Today..

Generally speaking, our generation are a big pile of wussies. We never had a draft, we think we're in a depression when 95% of everyone is employed with two TV's and an I-POD.... I coul find other examples, but here's a good one: Even the Movie Stars were tougher than today.
In the day where there are few Pat Tillmans out there, we seem to be stuck with a lot of 'patriots' who prefer to 'support our troops' by protesting, or little else. That's their right. Who knows, if I were a millionaire TV Star, I probably sit it out too. Not in the old days. Sure, the Nazis were a whole different thing, but even those who were rich and famous volunteered to fight Facism...Here's a little list, thanks to Bobby...
Alec Guinness (Star Wars)
operated a British Royal Navy landing craft on D-Day.
James Doohan ('Scotty' on Star Trek)
landed in Normandy with the U. S. Army on D-Day.
Donald Pleasance (The Great Escape) really was an R. A. F. pilot who was shot down, held prisoner and tortured by the Germans.
David Niven
was a Sandhurst graduate and Lt. Colonel of the British Commandos in Normandy
James Stewart
Entered the Army Air Force as a private and worked his way to the rank of Colonel. During World War II, Stewart served as a bomber pilot, his service record crediting him with leading more than 20 missions over Germany, and taking part in hundreds of air strikes during his tour of duty. Stewart earned the Air Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, France's Croix de Guerre, and 7 Battle Stars during World War II In peace time, Stewart continued to be an active member of the Air Force as a reservist, reaching the rank of Brigadier General before retiring in the late 1950s.
Clark Gable
(Mega-Movie Star when war broke out) Although he was beyond the draft age at the time the U.S. entered WW II, Clark Gable enlisted as a private in the AAF on Aug. 12, 1942 at Los Angeles. He attended the Officers' Candidate School at Miami Beach , Fla. and graduated as a second lieutenant on Oct. 28, 1942. He then attended aerial gunnery school and in Feb. 1943 he was assigned to the 351st Bomb Group at Polebrook where flew operational missions over Europe in B-17s. Capt. Gable returned to the U.S. in Oct. 1943 and was relieved from active duty as a major on Jun. 12, 1944 at his own request, since he was over-age for combat.
Charlton Heston
was an Army Air Corps Sergeant in Kodiak.
Ernest Borgnine
was a U. S.Navy Gunners Mate 1935-1945.
Charles Durning
was a U. S. Army Ranger at Normandy earning a Silver Star and awarded the Purple Heart.
Charles Bronson
was a tail gunner in the Army Air Corps, more specifically on B-29's in the 20th Air Force out of Guam, Tinian, and Saipan.
George C. Scott
was a decorated U. S. Marine.
Eddie Albert (Green Acres TV)
was awarded a Bronze Star for his heroic action as a U. S. Naval officer aiding Marines at the horrific battle on the island of Tarawa in the Pacific Nov. 1943.
Brian Keith
served as a U.S. Marine rear gunner in several actions against the Japanese on Rabal in the Pacific.

Forget Obama Girl and Her Silicone TaTa's... The GOP Unveils It's New Star - Justin, the GOP Baby !!

Every campaign needs a mascot of sorts... Michael Dukakis had Willie Horton, John Kerry had Ben Affleck, and Al Gore.... well, Al Gore was his own mascot. Barack Obama has Obama Girl. So, if you take you political advice from a third-rate model with nice fakies, you can blame yourself. The GOP has their own mascot.
This is Justin. He's about 18 months, he's as cute as the Dickens, and he's well-informed. Don't believe me? Just read his shirt, then you can apologize later.... He's full of poo, and he's not afraid to throw it around once in a while. DEMOCRATS BEWARE !!!!!!!

Here's One for the PC Patrol - Heather Locklear's SNL "Amazing Timesavers" Skit ...

Man, Look at Those EYES !!!
I love Bon Jovi, but Richie Sambora must be an idiot..... Anyway, as cliche hot as Heather Locklear is, I'll show you why she is so sexy - she's funny as hell !!
It took me a while, but I finally found my all-time favorite Saturday Night Live clip - Heather Locklear and Mike Myers doing 'Amazing Timesavers'. If you've never seen it, you're in for a treat. Heather is one of those talking-head QVC announcers. She's constantly focused on selling whatever piece of crap that's in front of her. But, she has a certain defect - intense bigotry......
Jews, Japanese, Indians, Puerto Ricans - no ethnic group is safe. Myers is the helpless inventor who is literally crawling out of his skin. It's a lot like when Myers was stuck net to Kanye West during his "George Bush doesn't care about black people" rant after Hurricane Katrina... Nothing goes together better than racist and pasta makers !!!!

Is Barack Obama an Elitist ??

The Air is Pretty Thin Up Here......

Time to address something that has been tossed around a lot this week. After his 'Bittergate' speech in San Fran last week. The question has been tossed around quite a bit - Is Barack Obama an Elitist ??

I'll try to be brief on this - I only have til 600PM anyway... To be an elitist, one usually has to have a certain amount of wealth, power and prestige. Obama has a little bit of each, but it's all been recently attained. One can hardly consider him an 'upper crust' type. So, to use the term elite is incorrect.

Here's what Obama's problem really is. He's not a rural-to-suburban type. Just being poor as a kid with a white mother and white grandparents doesn't make you 'country'. I've been in SC for 11 years now, and I'm not country, and I'll likely never be country..... His experience is more of an urban poor life. That is where his experience is from. He just doesn't understand those people, and he makes assumptions and generalizations - one may call it prejudices.

Is calling him prejudiced an insult? Maybe, but it seems like the truth. We all have prejudices, because we all have different experiences. I may have grown up with lot of black friends, but I can't say I understand their problems fully, simply because I am not black. Makes sense? It should. Obama's prejudices seem to be coming more to the forefront as he speaks more. Things like 'my typical white grandmother' are examples of prejudices, and it shouldn't be a surprise. No candidate is a one-size fits all person. Hillary isn't a common person, no matter how hard she tires, and John McCain has a military pedigree as strong as anyone in America.

Does this make any of them bad candidates. Not at all.. John Stewart was pretty right when he said that we don't really want an ordinary person as President. They should be special in some way. Being president is taking place in some pretty rarified air, so we should be picky to a degree. But, then again, having the common touch is important too, and Obama showed that he might not quite get it with real Americans. It's not being eliteist - it's being a urban liberal...

Tales From the Barbershop.....

Here's a joke I got from Bobby . Maybe you've heard this one before, but it's a good example of how people in DC are different from you and me..... Well, maybe just you.
One day a florist goes to a barber for a haircut. After the cut he asked about his bill and the barber replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The florist was pleased and left the shop. When the barber goes to open his shop the next morning there is a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.
Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The cop is happy and leaves the shop. The next morning when the barber g oes to open up there is a 'thank you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.
Later that day, a college professor comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The professor is very happy and leaves the shop. The next morning when the barber opens his shop, there is a 'thank you' card and a dozen different books, such as 'How to Improve Your Business' and 'Becoming More Successful'.
Then, a Congressman comes in for a haircut, and when he goes to pay his bill the barber again replies, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Congressman is very happy and leaves the shop. The next morning when the barber goes to open up, there are a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut. ...
ba-dum, bum !!

Another Good Commercial Goes Down to the PC Police. No More Godzilla in Subway's $5 Footlong Ads.

The PC patrol has struck again! Subway has finally managed to find an ad campaign that doesn't included Jared, and now the funniest part of it is gone, thanks no doubt to someone who got offended....
Yep, the funny '$5 Footlong' ads were redone, apparently becuase there was a scene that included Godzilla and a subtitled Japanese girl. Yeah, maybe it's a bit cliched, but it was pretty funny. But not to someone out there....
The ad has been changed, and the new ad skipped 'Zilla and his Asian girlfriend... But, fear not !! SC6 has got your back, and we have saved a clip of the original ad - monster and chick included....
.

Speaking of $5, Here Is the New $5 Bill....

I got this one from a County Councilman. It gives you an idea that we all are getting sick of high gas prices...

My Cousin Vinny Takes on the Obama Myth....

Peace, Brother !!
By now, you've read about Barack Obama's boo-boo with Pennsylvanians. Earl left an interesting comment, stating that as the campaign goes along, we are finding out more about Obama, and he may be a severly damaged candidate by the time the Democratic Convention comes around. Like most candidates, the more you find out about them, the more you realize they are politicians. And it made me think of something similar.....
Looking at Obama more closely, you see the thinness of his campaign, and maybe that good speeches and slogans aren't enough. My first thought was the scene from 'My Cousin Vinny', when Ralph Macchio (he's been on the blog a lot lately) is ready to drop Vinny for the Public Defender. I've added the clip here for you to see, and judge if this clip has more than it's original meaning.
You only have to watch the first 2 1/2 minutes of the clip - forget the rest. You will also need to switch certain words in it. Switch the following words. DA and Public Defender are now Obama. Brick is now candidacy. All the rest are the same. It makes a strong case that voters aren't really looking are Obama's campaign on it's real merits, but what is LOOKS LIKE. Check it out, and then decide. Maybe Vinny is smarter than we thought - and Obama isn't.

Just In Case You Needed More Proof That Men & Women Are Different, SC6 Gives It To You..

In case I never thanked you guys for donating topics or info to blog about, let me take the time to do it now. Here's another example... I'm not sure where the original source came from , but it made it to my e-mail. It's a pretty accurate list of ways Men & Women see things differently - and yet I still try to figure them out. Good Luck on that.......
NICKNAMES
If Laura, Kate and Sarah go out for lunch, they will call each otherLaura, Kate and Sarah. If Mike, Dave and John go out, they willaffectionately refer to each other as Fat Boy, Godzilla and Four-eyes.
EATING OUT
When the bill arrives, Mike, Dave and John will each throw in $20, eventhough it's only for $32.50. None of them will have anything smaller andnone will actually admit they want change back. When the girls get theirbill, out come the pocket calculators.
MONEY
A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs.A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't need, just becauseit's on sale.
BATHROOMS
A man has six items in his bathroom: toothbrush and toothpaste, shavingcream, razor, a bar of soap, and a towel of some sort. The averagenumber of items in the typical woman's bathroom is 337.Most men would not be able to identify more than 20 of these items.
ARGUMENTS
A woman has the last word in any argument. Anything a man says afterthat is the beginning of a new argument.
CATS
Women love cats. Men say they love cats, but when women aren't looking, many men kick cats.
FUTURE
A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband. A man neverworries about the future until he gets a wife.
SUCCESS
A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend. Asuccessful woman is one who can find such a man.
MARRIAGE
A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't. A manmarries a woman expecting that she won't change, but she does.
DRESSING UP
A woman will dress up to go shopping, water the plants, empty the bins, answer the phone, read a book, and get the mail. A man will dress up for weddings and funerals and, yeah, that's about it.
NATURAL
Men wake up as good-looking (relatively-speaking) as they went to bed.Women somehow deteriorate during the night. No scientists have figuredthis one out yet.
OFFSPRING
Ah, children. A woman knows all about her children. She knows about their dentist appointments and romances, best friends, favorite foods, secret fears and hopes and dreams. A man is vaguely aware of some shortpeople living in the house.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
A married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing.
Please send all complaints to the comments section.....

You're Never Too Old to Rock !!!

No, No !! It's The Pinkie and Index Finger Up !!
Ever hear your parents tell you that you darn music was too loud? Me too. Well, here's something a little different for you. In Massachusetts, there are a group of seniors who have perfomed all over the Globe. Maybe not too odd on the surface, but when you take into consideration that their average age is 82, and they perform only rock songs, well........
Take a peek at the clip from the Today Show earlier this week. Of ocurse, you have to wait thru the 30 second commercial they jam in there, but the story is well worth it, and the last part may even make you shed a tear or two....
Some people say that eventually you become too old to rock - AKA The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, but I say we all have a little Rock n' Roll in us....

The Clinton Campaign Goes Down In Flames - Literally.

Call this one an omen. A Bad Omen.... On Friday, the Terre Haute , Indiana headquarters for the Clinton Campaign caught on fire, and were burned down. Luckily, the two employees in the office got out unharmed.

The cause of the fire was leectrical related - either by lightning or a wiring malfunction. No word yet if the office was hooked up to an American Airlines MD-80 or not... More important than the loss of the office is it being another sign that the Clinton camp is suffereing from Bad Mojo.

Add this to the dismissal of chief strategist Mark Penn, the news that Obama outraised Clinton by a 2-1 margin, and Sen. Clinton's recent comments about the terrorist attack by a nine yr old Bosnian girl in 1995, and you can't help but feel that Team Hillary is suffering from bad ju-ju..... Where is my Voodoo Doll when you need it?

William Shatner: Thespian, Vocalist, Philanthropist. Bill Does a Promo Spot to End the Ringing in My Ears..

In our neverending battle to honor William Shatner, Earl and I have gone back and forth - and it's getting harder to find new stuff on Shat, but I managed to pull this one out. Bill Shatner - celebrity spokesman!!
Here is a spot for the Tinnitus Foundation. The what? Well, tinnitus is an illness that affects actors, musicians and regular people everywhere. It is a constant ringing in a person's ears from either constant noise, or a sudden shock , like what happened to Bill. He got it during a Star Trek episode, when he was too close to a special effects explosion. After that, I got too bored to listen.....
Thanks to all my rock' roll years, I've had tinnitus to vary degrees for about 15 years, so it really touched me on a personal basis. Okay, it didn't, but I did say "Hey, I have that too".
.

Would You Chat With This Girl , Even if It Were a Scam ?? So Would I .

Time to call Lufthansa Airlines again..... Meet Lena. I got an e-mail from her on MySpace this week. By the way, the local championship wrestling association still wants me to let them kick my ass... Back to Lena. She's from the Ukraine also - the eastern end, where they really love Putin. All I gotta say is Yowza Comrade !!! Did I ever mention that dark hair and blue eyes are my favorite?

She's written three times this week, although she has to have her letters translated. Why do all the pretty ones not speak English?? Anyway, she is a florist, she's 26, and she is looking for a good man to, they say there, "spend the life". If she can't find a guy, then it is official... UKRAINIAN GUYS ARE STUPID !!!! But their loss is America's gain. Here's some more pics:

Lena at work...
Planting tulips on something....

Lena at... who cares! Look at her..

Lena and her Aunts... Good genes, eh?

Now, before you guys start freaking out, I know - it's a scam. But at least this girl answers questions that I ask, and doesn't just send a form letter..... Here's what will happen: We'll send e-mails back and forth, we'll get very close, she'll begin to think of me often, with loving thoughts. Then she'll decide that she HAS to meet me. She won't ask for money - she'll pay her own way, and then give me the itinerary for her trip. Next, she'll go to Kiev by bus to catch her flight, and some terrible tragedy will befall her there. She'll be pickpocketed, mugged, or the KGB will impound her breast implants. Then she'll need me to Western Union her cash....... As Grady the Badger said, 'Ka-POWEE !!!'
Sure, this will go nowhere, but it's more fun than chatting with the Wrestlers for Jesus Guy.....
