Only One SC Town Makes Money Mag's Top 100.....Seven Oaks ???

Here Is Where Seven Oaks Is........ Now We BOTH Know .....
I read the list of Money Magazine's Top 100 Towns in the US today. I swore that SC was going to miss out completely on making the list, but those wizards snuck one Palmetto town just in under the wire - Seven Oaks !! Uh, Seven Oaks ?? Yep, it just made it at #98 !
Apparently, it is a section of Columbia in Lexington County - one that I have never been through, or I went through it and didn't even know it. The criteria was a little screwy, but it seems to be based on which little towns in America have an Opera Hall or where everyone goes to private school. If those are the criteria, then SC will never crack that list. By the way, I didn't see a town on this list that had property taxes below $4000 a year. If you jacked Florence's taxes to that level, we'd have an Opera Hall too - that is, if anyone still lived here.
No doubt there are plenty of politicians who think that this would be the answer to all of our problems - including the schools. Thank God we haven't gone that route - yet. Beware folks, those people are out there, so always be vigilant....

Mike, I don't think that is in Lexington County, though the county line gerrymanders back and forth through there. It does look like the area where a few sugar daddy Yella Dogs live near Columbia that are afraid of getting incorporated into the GOP bastion of Irmo.

Now if you were looking for a town with an opry hall, Newberry fits that bill, though I can't say that it has quite the personal wealth among its inhabitants. Makes me wonder about the criteria for that list and how Lake Wylie missed the cut (lest the spectre of Jim and Tammy Faye spooked the selection committee).

I want to know how Davis Station missed the list.

tripping though the links from the story, around Davis Station, how many high dollar realestate agents have listings in the 100K-200K and 200K+ range to bouy supporting an ad that appears to have bought Money's endorsement?

Follow the Money trail.

Davis Station better put up an Opera House if they want to get in.

What if Dolly opened another Country Stampede down on the "Redneck Riveria" would that be close enough or would it be too close to Charleston that Joe Riley would have to cajole someone to underwrite a Dixie Chicks counterpart on Daniel Island to up his tax base while being another project with a tax exempt city underwritten loan with more loopholes than Ken LAy ever had?

Ken Lay was innocent.

it's next to Eight Pines and Six Maples, but nowhere near Twenty-One Palms.
