The Odd Alliance: Lesbians and 'Independent' Women Join to Hate Men In the Pee Dee ??

Yesterday, I got a local magazine intended for the lady who lived here before me I guess. It is called Inner Views, and it's targeted at the female market. Now, Florence already has a ladies mag called She, but it apparently is too tame for some. This mag is a bit insulting to me personally, and I'll tell you why.
I first had an idea when I saw that the Editor was a former reporter for the Morning News - one who was rumoured to play for the other team, as we might say. No big deal. I don't mind lesbians having their own magazine, even if I don't agree with them. Then I saw an article written by someone I dated recently. Hmmm.
I'll leave her nameless, but let's jut say it's the one who dumped last year because she though I was poor - just like the Seinfeld episode. In fact, this was one in a series - the 'Independent Woman' series. This topic was buying a car. Lots of cliche crap - men don't respect women, men think that women don't anything about cars, etc. Well the funny stuff was that all the stuff she mentioned , she learned FROM A GUY at Palmetto Nissan !!
I knew the whole time that I was dating a closed off woman, who was obsessed with how much she DIDN'T need me, but I didn't know she wanted to write a book on it. It makes for an odd coupling - Liberal Lesbians and Conservative Coffee Achievers - or Red Bull more correctly. Which leads me the question..... At what point did men become the enemy? I have no problem with women making more than me, being my boss, and discovering who they are. I've had all of them already. But why the position that we are somehow holding women back??
I hate to break to these ladies, but YOU NEED US, and we need you too. Our happiness, our sanity, and the future of our species depend on it!! I know, I know..... there are no magazines aimed specifically for women. Wait, I forgot - there are about 50 of them !!!!

Hang Mikey, send her a Gordon Liddy Stacked and Packed calendar with a gift tag from...

Reading between the lines, it would fan the flames of misandry and still give a switch hitter eyestrain.

Glad you and Bobby are tight for sure.

What spelling errors?? As for the proofreading, guilty as charged.

Hmmm. What exactly does a rumour about my sexuality have to do with the content of Inner Views magazine? This is not a lesbian magazine. It's a magazine that embraces women of all faiths and backgrounds living in the Pee Dee. I'm not in competition with She -- it's a whole different kind of magazine. If you knew anything about me, you'd know that I actually think it's a nicely done publication. But, of course, you don't know me. Apparently.

If you really read Inner Views you'd know this, too -- I've never printed a single word that was derogatory to men. I won't allow it. That's my policy, always has been. I despise magazines that do, incidentally, and when I was approached by the Morning News to edit this publication, that was a main objective -- to be informational and entertaining in a way that would not be insulting to men.

I happen to like men very much. In fact, I was married to one for 21 years and bore him two daughters. We are grandparents to a precious grandson. I am devoted to my family. I challenge you to find a single word or statement anywhere in any issue of Inner Views that reflects lesbianism. Who (if anyone) I sleep with has no bearing at all on what I do in my career. What I do in my career has no bearing on what I do in my private life. I find it rather funny that you even take the time to speculate.

Now, about the financial column you mention. You said she wrote, and I quote, "men don't respect women, men think that women don't [know] anything about cars, etc." Find it, buddy. Those words -- nor any like them -- ever appear in that column. And, there's no such implication anywhere. In fact, it pretty much says quite the opposite. It's a piece that, in fact, defends the salesperson. It's a piece that, in fact, gives tips to women so they can feel perfectly confident in dealing with a salesperson. It's a piece that, in fact, you didn't read.

My financial columnist is a smart, funny woman who discourages other women from seeking out men for financial gain. Yes, folks, that means she actually urges women to stand on their own feet, to establish identities for themselves so they have healthier relationships in the future. How that translates into male bashing I'll never know.

It's a concept any man should be applauding, not downing. Frankly, I find it awfully curious that you feel so threatened by the idea of strong women. But, that's something for your psychiatrist to figure out, I suppose.

Wow. I ruffled somebody's feathers today. This by far is the longest post in our history. I wish Clyburn would take the time to trash me like this.

I'll be brief. I did read the article, and I'll quote where the inference lies...... "Many female buyers are intimidated at the prospect of purchasing a car - so they take their husband, boyfriend, Dad, brother or male friend a) so they'll be taken seriously, and b) for protection." Since most auto people are males, this can easily be inferred. Oh did I mention - I work for a Car Dealership !! I live with the 'you are taking advantage of me because I'm a woman' complaint all the time.. I'm sorry Libby, but you schooling me on the car business is like me telling you how to run a newspaper - which I'm not, but I will point out the motivation.

Yes, I have an axe to grind with the writer for obvious reasons. Many men are getting tired of women getting downed by 'strong women' for not 'reaching their potential' as women. And some will kill a potentially good relationship by displaying how 'independent ' they are.

Pardon me, as I am still stuck in my cave, but most women know full well of their potential, and they choose a simpler, and ultimately more rewarding life.

Lastly, I hope you don't think I'm 'outing ' you here. I don't look down on lesbians, and I'm not afraid of them either. My sister is a lesbian (as I've written here numerous times), and I've been around gays and lesbians since I was seven. My point was the odd alliance between the two groups. I'm surprised you even wrote back, especially with such outrage. I've said worse directly about Harry Logan, and he knows it's just a dumb blog that keeps him from reading my LTE's.

I almost forgot... Your hair color makes you look old. You wanna pick at my mental health, I'll pick on your hair. God Bless.

I knew a Libby one time from New York a beautiful girl with a crazy family. Seems like one of those southern women moved north married a yankee and had a off spring. One messed up mixed up kid. Any how Mike do not take all this stuff real serious. She is trying to defend herself and if she was straight up she would not have to. By saying straight I do not mean she is Lesbian nor do I care. Just another Pee Dee bomb anyway. Nobody has threatend anyone no harm done none intended write what you want she will also.

very true about over-independent women. they can blow a relationship, even when they don't mean to, because they don't see the world outside of themselves.

for me, i want a woman who is independent and wants to be my equal. women who have the "whatever you want, whatever you want me to be) and live at my hand are not for me. they're the only kind of women that will absolutely never take a chance on.

but man oh man ... you sure get the women in such an uproar.

say what you want, but OJ knows how to keep the ladies in line. the next one he gets involved will know much better than to screw with him.

this is why a woman's place is in the kitchen. unlike the "independent woman" role, where they lament being single and childless so late in life as they run off a string of men with their issues, the more traditional role is one they can't screw that one up.

after all, it had to become such a deeply-rooted tradition for some reason, right?

next time you get with a b**** like that, just slap the heck out of her a couple of times. if she leaves, her loss. if she stays, she's your property for life.
