There's No Doubt Who 'Will' Lead the Influence Index On BNN This Week...

Donna Rice. Monica Lewinsky. Gennifer Flowers. Marilyn Monroe. Maria Belen-Chapur .... and Will Folks? We had no idea how right we were when we said on Saturday that Nikki Haley would get both barrels now that she was leading in the polls....

It's getting kinda late, and we we're really only adding our two cents as a marker of the biggest event in the 2010 campaign, but here is our take - we think Will is telling the truth. Seriously, which is more likely: that Folks got blackmailed by people that he is opposed to politically, and he was pushed into admitting that something happened, which undoubtedly sinks his preferred candidate in the race. Or... He just sabotaged what has been his professional life the past 4 years for a wad of cash by making up a story? Think about it....

We have no doubt that Will did about all he could to protect Nikki Haley from this, but when your wife finds out about it, you don't pick your favorite Gubernatorial candidate - you side with your wife. There is no choice. When it's definitely going to come out, you try to do it as considerate and respectfully as possible - and we think he did. He didn't kiss and tell. He didn't give details. Hell, we don't even know exactly what he means by 'inappropriate physical relationship'. Is that just kissing, or testing the waters with the life preserver on?

We're not trying to make Will Folks out to be a martyr or an object of sympathy. We have no doubt that he wouldn't have brought this up if he hadn't been exposed by whatever camp got him and Haley. People want answers, but it's not really our business. We're more enamored with the thought that someone could have an affair with the biggest new media star in the state - a guy who has lots of enemies, and a big mouth to boot - and still decide to run for Governor. This is the only thing that makes us even wonder if Folks is telling the truth. No candidate is that arrogant or stupid. If she is, we found out just in time....

The aftermath of this? Nikki Haley is finished as far as her campaign goes. It's over. She'll try to rally the troops, but even if it isn't true, she's toast. As for Will? He'll be hounded for interviews and media appearances for the next week or two, and then he'll settle down to see that his real passion - FITS News - won't have the juice it used to, which sucks. Others try to top him, but FITS is by the far the best blog in SC at digging up the dirt, promoting it's ideas and itself, and entertaining the readers along the way - good or bad.

Mike--Nikki is suppose to be at the Florence County GOP meeting tonight (Tuesday 5.25.10). If she shows up (she does have reputation for no showing)I can promise you there will be fireworks (or maybe an atomic explosion)!

Whatever occurs, one thing is for sure; Nikki Haley was recruited to run by the LuvGov and some of his supporters. She has been touted as having the same conservative values as the LuvGov. What is now becoming clear is that she is simply Mark Sanford in a dress, in every sense of the word. The last thing we need is another LuvGov part II.

Welcome to the bloodsport of SC politics...teg

So who's leading the list for who Wil hasn't slept with? Sanford? Andre? Margret Trudeau? Lady Gaga? Jimma Clyburn?

And your evidence is??

This piece is a pretty sorry excuse for reasoned analysis. But hey, you're a blogger. If you could think and write, you'd have a real job.

Love and kisses, Holmes.

C'mon, Mike! You know more about what goes on behind the scenes in SC politics than to say that you think Will Folks is telling the truth. Everyone thought Folks was in the tank for Haley, but his connections to Shealy, Quinn, Marchant, Whetsell, etc. etc. suggest otherwise. Word on the street among politicos "in the know" is that there is a lot more to Folks making most of this stuff up...

I hope your believing Folks on this isn't influenced by the fact that Nikki isn't the type of pol who feels the need to come kiss the ring of county chairs (or self-styled "local political bosses") or counties in the I-95 corridor that are insignificant to SCGOP politics in the long-run!

Anon, my job is not to provide evidence, but to decide from the bully pulpit what my gut tells me. My gut says Will is telling the truth, and my gut isn't often wrong. There are some credible (re: non-blog) outlets that by week's end will show that Will isn't BS'ing on this, but we'll see...

BTW, I do have a real job,and hopefully your parents will make as much as I do someday...

Kenneth, no my thoughts aren't influenced by whether my Chairmen buddies were slighted. In fact, I was leaning towards voting for Haley...

I'll stand by my feeling that Will was blackmailed into finking on his favorite candidate until mor esolid proof from either side is out there.

I had money on you telling Anon to go have an "inappropriate physical relationship" with himself.

BTW, what's the easier explanation here? That two people who apparently have similar political philosophies, run in the same crowd and share the same mentor hooked up OR that there is some grand conspiracy this Guy is a party to that will damage what professional reputation he does have (or if you prefer...wish he had) and subject he and his wife to public ridicule?

Let's face it...in this climate, you assume the sex scandal is true until proven otherwise. Like it or not, that's the results of all the hypercritical examples that have come to light in spite of our politicians' retarded focus on "family values" etc have wrought.

Lyndon Johnson's adage, "You don't have to catch your opponent in bed with his mistress, you only have to get him to deny it." underscores the de facto nature of the code Napoleon of the monkeys of the press and otherwise throwing poop.

Like the Obama coverup of bungling of the BP rig spill in the Gulf, the cover ups, teh cover up of this mess will prove the most damning bit.

'Code Napoleon'... now THAT'S the Rhino we know and love!

Thanks P-Luv,for saying what I meant to say... Although we have heard cockamamie theories before that ended up being correct. Always remember Vincent LaGuardia Gambini's 'Two Metallic Mint Green 1965 Buick Skylarks With Michelin P75R14 Tires' ...

Kenneth...on behalf of the people in the insignificant counties, your statement shows how insignificant your intellectual capacity is. Or in terms more in line with your simple mono-syllabic thinking...Go F**K Yourself...how's that for an inappropriate physical relationship...opps you got have one before you can go do yourself...

If I was not vacationing on the cosmopolitan waters of Potato Creek, I would have titled my post on this brouhaha with a little help from the diminutive rock n roller from Minneapolis: "I knew a girl named Nikki..."

Mike I laughed my ass off when I read this from you "My gut says Will is telling the truth, and my gut isn't often wrong."
You had a gut reaction to quit your job and move to NY. Is that one of the few time it's been wrong?
I love you man but let's get real.
My gut reaction tells me she's honest. She never once mentioned a exotic vacation. That's proof enough for me.
As that last sentence proves a gut reaction means nothing. Unless he's got proof he's a cad. Actually he's a cad either way.He works in politics which makes him a automatic person of ill repute in my book.

I think I'll vote for her instead of the other cads. It's time for a change. Let's get a women in office that like sex as much as the guys.

No Ron, the move to NY was a rare opportunity where I saw some daylight and took it. Things aren't perfect, but it's safe to say my days of working in Flotown were through..Overall, it has been a very good move.

Cad or no Cad, I still think Will is telling the truth, and there appear to be whispers of others too, but we don't print whispers..

Trust me on this Mike. Getting out of Florence was the best thing for you. I'm working on that for my family as well although not to NY but further south than what we are now.

Each one of the GOP candidates have issues. A Democrat won't win this cycle either so we're going to be left with a GOP'er (that's a good thing) I personally don't care who sleeps with who as long as I'm not involved. I'm tired of the same old political hacks running the state.

Getting a women to screw up the state will at least raise the opinion of us in other states eyes. She would be the first female GOP governor in the south. That would change something. Just not sure what.
P.S. I'm glad that NY is working out for you.
When are you going to do a NY(Plug in your District) blog?
