Which Candidate Will Pull a Lobster Out of Maine ??

We Thought It Was a Rock..It Was a Rock Lobster at the Maine Caucus!

Our apologies to the B-52's for copyright infringement.. The next step on the path to the GOP nomination is today, as the Maine Caucus wraps up today... Theirs are different in that it lasts a week, and it concludes today. Don't ask me WHY it takes seven days to take votes is beyond us, but we don't ask questions when it comes to caucuses. Then again, we don't take much creedence in them either, just like today's C-PAC straw poll....

Being in the Northernmost in the eastern US, we would expect a Mitt Romney win, but you never know with a caucus.  He's in a bit of a no-win situation in that anything but a win would be viewed as a loss.  The other one with a lot to lose is Ron Paul.  He has staked his claim here ever since he mentioned it after Florida. If he finished third or fourth again, he may be dead in the water. Few are still listening at this point. Another poor finish will likely start the calls for him to get out...

Rick Santorum is in a better position, just because no one expects much from  him, so a second or third isn't bad. A second would be preferred, but that might be asking much..  Newt Gingrich is in a tough spot. The Northeast is not Newt Country, and he has really fallen off his game without the opportunity to debate.  Also, those signs that said '46 states to go' have dwindled down to '41 states to blow' for Gingrich. Time is running short...

The good news for voters and those with limited tolerances for campaigns is that the candidates take a bit of a break after Maine.  Nope, there will be no primaries or caucuses until February 28th, when Arizona and Michigan go to the polls.  Enjoy the 16 days off. Meanwhile, we'll be trying to figure out what to post about until then.. We'll find something.  Until then, enjoy that yummy lobster with drawn butter ...
