More news about things that affect your life - maybe. News this week that cellphone giant Verizon Wireless is planning to merge with local carrier Alltel. The deal would be for about $5.9 Billion, plus Verizon would pay off Alltel's massive debt load of another $22.1 Billion. WOW....
Why are they merging? Well, Verizon has some HUGE gaps in their coverage areas, mostly in rural areas of the Southeast. That means us. Alltel is well-established in these areas, so it would seem to be a good fit. Although the one thing I always noticed with Alltel customers is that if they aren't in the area, you can't leave them voicemail - pretty inconvenient. But there is one big question every will be asking.... WHAT ABOUT CHAD ?????
First off, now that the buyout is taking place, will Chad stop picking on the Verizon guy? Secondly, what will happen to Chad and his merry band of retarded buddies? Okay they're not retarded - geeky, yes. Retarded , no. Is this the end of them all? Does Chad end up doing commercials with the Verizon Guy? Clearly, there are parts of this merger that the business executives at Verizon and Alltel have not thought about......
The question needs to be asked: who do you guys like better - Chad or the Verizon Guy? Or, is it time to create a new, superduper spokesman - I have one in mind.
