Change of Leadership, Change of Schedule ...

The Florence GOP Changes It's Meeting Date....

We have new leadership here in Flotown, and when big change comes, even the smaller things change. Like the meetings, for starters. After meeting at Horne's Restaurant on the second Monday every month, the Florence GOP announced today that they will be meeting on the second Thursday every month. Whether on not it will still be at Horne's remains to be seen, but hopefully, there will be enough attendees to have it at the Civic Center...

Granted, not many people ate at Horne's, although I liked the meatloaf. But, it is a very limited venue that will not suit the party's growth. I have a bigger problem, however. The second Monday was good for me as District Vice-Chair. The only county that had meetings was Charleston County, which essentially doesn't admit that they have the 6th District in their county. Now, I share the same night as Orangeburg and Clarendon Counties - two of my favorites. The risk of being at other counties the same night as my home county, and Florence thinking I'm never around is possible. Guess Tom and I will have to rotate trips...

Obviously, this isn't all about me, so if it allows more people to attend monthly meetings, then it is best. When I know where it is , you'll be the first to know - and the first invited.

Easy enough!
The meetings will be held at the First Reliance Bank's Training Center on Palmetto Street. Food will be sponsored and brought in. If anyone has any questions about the Meeting, speaker, agenda or location, please do not hesitate to contact me.

So like sponsored food is donated food or do you have to pay.

Who knows. Probably donated, but a doantion to the party would likely be asked for to raise funds..

Mike you will be missed. You and Tommy both. We may change the day and time of our meeting to accomidate a more diverse crowd. As you know most of our members are retirees and we would like to be more user friendly to young adults and families. Seems Thursday is a bad time for babysitters, getting kids ready for bed, doing home work and so forth. We are discussing that now. You know Williamsburg and a couple of other counties picked different nights where we could all attend each others meetings. It was nice that Florence was different than us and a couple of more in the past but we can live with it. We have to. If it helps you dudes to the north grow your party then that is a good thing. The only draw back I see is we will have to compete with Florence for speakers but in the past you guys have had few and far between. Now that you have a New Party and the Pee Dee Republicans that may change for awhile at least. Clarendon will still be ok. We are in this together.

Hey Mike- I really hate the meetings fell on the same nights as Clarendon. We did a survey and over 95% wanted them on Thursday night. Unfortunately, council meets on 1st and 3rd Thursday in Florence...so that left us with 2nd Thurs. We will start at 6pm with our speakers so they will be done by 6:30 or 6:45. Hope to be able to share some speakers with Clarendon since they are only 35 minutes away. The speaker could leave us and be there by 7:15ish. Maybe we will get some good ones. Should know who we have for first meeting tomm. Also, food is Free. (we will never turn down a donation to the GOP) but it isn't required. We have some yummy food donors already signed up. We are planning fund raisers through out the year to provide the funding we need. Hope you can make it for the meeting.
