If you don't think that the world is testing the mettle of the Obama Administration after the last two days, then you might be a bit blind. Yeah, it's a kook in a Cessna and some Somali pirates, but don't think that this isn't giving a little inspiration to the real deals out there.
It was a bit embarrassing for the crew to take over it's own ship while Washington was still deciding how to approach the drama. Sure, when you're on the boat, you have nothing left to lose , but still....
Just another example of DC's leadfooted response to anything...

IMHO, both incidents are recon by fire, sending cannon fodder into the mix to see how we respond. 9/11/01 seems to have been the same sort of action on a grander scale, playing at a we can't lose for Al Queda... Clinton's indeciseiveness and ineptitude over USS Cole, Somaliaian incursion, the first WTC bombing, OKC set the stage for 9/11 as a test of Bush 43's resolve.
I suspect another move on a scale as grand as the ops against the WTC in New York is coming, whether its aftermath will look like the re-write of "The Sum of All Fears" to minimize the chances of offending Mohammedans reamins to be seen, but if the Oklahoma City cover up is any indication it will activate several soverignty bills passed earlier this year.
