The hammer fell on Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.) a nine term DEMOCRAT accused of 19 counts of corruption and bribery. Jefferson was indicted for trying to get nearly $8 million in bribes from African leaders by using his office as a go-between them and companies trying to do business there.
I have two thoughts on this tonight: First, I guess the Republicans 'Culture of Corruption and Cronyism' applies to the Democrats also. Those of you who expected a change of attitude with the change of leadership might want to think again. As Pete Townshend wrote, "Meet the New Boss......... Same as the Old Boss."
Secondly, I wonder if the development in Africa is possible with all these layers of profit taking and corruption. The continent seems like one giant scam , with more layers of corruption than an onion. It's like Somalia, but this has people taking their cut on both sides.
I tell you, if we don't get some genuinely honest people in DC soon, this country is lost..... absolutely LOST....
