Congressional Power Rankings: House Majority Whip Clyburn Is Only Number 30 ??

Deer Park, That's Good Water.. Call Him House Majority Jipped !!
I was taking a trip along Congress.org - the top info directory on Congress, when I came across a most interesting tidbit. The Power Rankings.
They rank all 535 members of the House and Senate, based upon their influence, ability to pass legislation, and a slew of other data. Now, it is pretty standardfor many of them. Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the Top Dog - pun intended. Majority Leader Steny Hoyer is No. 2 , so one would think that Majority Whip Jim Clyburn would be Number 3, right? Not quite. He isn't number 3, or number 4 , or 5, or even Number 10. He's Number 30. Yep, thirty - three zero !!
It might be a bit understandable that he's behind crucial committee chairs like Charlie Rangel, David Obey, Harvey Waxman and John Conyers. After all, Clyburn has never had a chairman or key leaership position on any committee, except for heading the Congressional Black Caucus. But, he beat Rahm Emanuel for the Whip spot last year, and Emanuel is ahead of him (No. 10). He's even behind useless mouthpieces like John Murtha (13th) , Maxine Waters (18th), and my favorite hyphnated Congresswoman, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (24th).
How can a guy whose sole job is to organize the party to unite on their votes, be ranked so low? Well, it looks like his influence is not as high as he would like to believe. It makes sense. After all, the Democrats have been unable to really do much in the 1 1/2 years since they assumed command of the Capitol. It appears that his failure in that job has caused him to drop to a position much lower than he should be.
Knowing Clyburn's lack of experience in actual leadership seems to be showing. How did he get the job then. My guess is that , much like Greg Brady getting the Johnny Bravo gig - he fit the outfit. More bluntly, he fit the Democrats rainbow leadership goal than others who may have done a better job. They had the woman, the white guy, the hispanic, and they needed an African-American to complete the coalition. Clyburn , having more ambition than Lucifer, gladly shopped for and accepted the job.
It was pretty stunning to me to see Jim ranked so low, but Congress.org is an independent group. No doubt Clyburn ranks himself a lot higher than that - but he's always had an exaggerated sense of self. Just another example of him making himslef out to be more important than he actually is.

wow...and as for how much power our state has within congress, we're ranked 46th. that's pretty much on par with how SC ranks in everything else too!

Really? Number 3? That Robert Byrd sure is making the most of his KKK money.

Couple this with Jimbo's chiding Hillary for dissing Barack, reported by Reuters... he didn't ell her to get out of the race, but did practically say quit giving the Republicans talking points.

Also reported was that Jim has heard talk that Hillary and Bill were out to make sure that Obama didn't win in November IF Hillary wasn't nominated at the top of the ticket. Wanna see that 30 drop WAY down, watch McCain coat-tails move either or both house back into GOP hands...

No doubt he'd drop like a stone if the GOP took over again. A big surprise was John Spratt is like #133. What the hell happened to him?

He is an affirmative action whip.

His accomplishments to date are grabbing every penny possible for himeslf and his clan...and posing as someone that cares about his people.

That he has a job at all is due to the wonders of America.

I have to look at the series of pics leading these postings, Hillary says the fish was this big, a bubba catches a fish that is bigger and Jiumbo shows how big the fish Hillary caught really is...
