The House Screws Up a Vote..... And WE Have to Pay to Find Out Why???

Get ready to say "WTF?"......... Congress had a vote last month that got all messed up, and it looks like we'll be paying for it in the end. The vote was about putting provisions in an amendment to a recent Agriculture bill to limit illegal immigrants. It was a close vote, where the Republicans thought they had won 215-213. Then the fun started.....

Somewhere along the line during the roll call, one of the votes was put as a 'Nay', instead of a 'Yea', so the vote came up as a tie 214-214. In this case, a tie vote is like in baseball - the tie goes to the majority party. The speaker at the vote saw the C-Span vote, and called the tie and ended voting. All of this is legal. If all this Roberts Rules of Order are a bit confusing, I recommend watching "I'm Just a Bill" from Schoolhouse Rocks. Naturally, Republicans screamed Bloody Murder, and then more fun started.

Needing to know exactly how this screwup occurred (fine), the Rules Committee had a hearing into the matter. They called in the Clerk of the House, who basically said an error had taken place. Sounds fine - we messed up, the vote was wrong. I forgot - this is Washington DC , we need to build that molehill into a Mountain. Even though they know what happened, Congress wants to have one of those wonderful "Independent Investigative Committees" look into it further - at an estimated cost of over $1 Million. Beautiful!! Bunch of Idiots....

Ladies and Gentlemen of DC, stop wasting our money on Steroids in Pro Baseball, Retired NFL Players injuries, and other Independent Committees...... Just do what we pay you to do, which is nothing, I guess.
