The Corridor of Shame Gets Free Stuff...

Congrats to JV Martin Junior High in Dillon ... After years of being the poster child for what is wrong with South Carolina's schools, to the point that even Barack Obama invited one of it's students to his first speech to Congress, finally got some assistance. And as usual, it wasn't from any government agency.
A Chicago-based furniture supply company saw Tysheoma Bethea on television, they realized they could help, and they acted. We say good for them.. It was funny to see every local, state and Federal politician show up for the big ceremony, when none of them were able to successfully change anything at JV Martin, and a single businessman 1000 miles away did it himself. It's yet another example of private sources being more proactive at implementing REAL CHANGE than government.
That's our tip for school administrators today. Get out there and find those comapnies, foundations and groups that can really help you out. Lobbying the same four public officials will get you nowhere. Find those new sources, shake the branches, and see what falls out. You'd be surprised - everyone in Dillon is...
.

pluvlaw, you ole democrat, Hannity has to leave something for the rest of us to do....I say how bout county wide consolidation state wide....put some of those highly educated well paid people back in the class room....before public education goes the way of the railroad....who did not seem to know what business they were in either....they thought they were in the train business when they were actually in the transportation business. Government schools think they are in the administrating..testing business when they should be in the teaching business...it is time to step to the plate and do what is right for all the students of SC. Put the money back in the class room with county wide consolidation of school districts, currently only 45% of your education dollars get to the classroom. The current financial crisis is too big to waste.

Hey...don't give up on trains yet. Rail may be making a comeback, baby! Here in Florence anyway...

That's true. We all know what a fan of High Speed Rail our Congressman is - as long as they keep financing his campaign.

So does the high speed rail corridor soon have a spur from Wilmington through Dillon and Florence, across the lake to Oragneburg?
