Republicans and Democrats Go to War in Massatooshits - Again.

One more day until the insanity ends. Tomorrow is the special election to fill Ted Kennedy's US Senate seat. I'll be honest - I really don't like these special elections very much. all of the focus nationally goes on one race, and each party throws all of it's resources into it. By this point, both Scott Brown and Martha Coakley have been demonized and skewered to the point of where both must be wondering if it was all worth it. By tomorrow night, one of them will definitely be thinking that.....
But, you can't ignore all that is at stake. The Democrats need to hold onto that filibuster-proof 60 votes to salvage being able to hammer through the Health Care bill. Even Barack Obama made a pit stop to try to help Coakley. Republicans know that this is not their last chance, but if they win this race, they could possibly kill the bill. I wonder how Andre Bauer did up there - or if they even knew who he was or could understand him. The irony of the fate of Health Care being fought in Ted Kennedy's own seat is not lost on us here...
We do know one thing: that the poor registered voters in Massachusetts must be tired of all the phone calls and mailers and TV ads by now. Wicked number of calls, Sully !!! Only two more days, and we'll leave - then we'll all pack up and move onto the next Death Battle...

Mike-the reason both national parties are throwing everything at this election is because it could make or break everything the Dems have planned. It all comes down to the big M-momentum and at this moment the GOP has it. The GOP won two Governor's races in 2009, one against what was suppose to be a entrenched, connected and well funded Dem, in one of the reddest of states.

Taking this a step further, the idea of losing "the Kennedy Senate seat" probably has some libs/dems literally physically sick not to mention that the Kennedy legarcy has been the proverbal rally cry for the healthcare passage.

If this seat goes GOP it also breaks the strangle hold the Dems have on the Senate, now the Dems have claimed they can use procedure and protocol rules to get around any GOP attempts to stretch the debate, but given the problems they have had on recent votes I wouldn't list that as a potential strategy if I was a dem.

Finally, as I said at the start this is all about momentum, and Obama has stepped into it with his last minute campaign appearance. This election can now be likened to a referendum on his presidency in the reddest of states (and it will). If he loses here he doesn't just have egg on his face he's wearing an omelet. Which leds me to a final question, would the president like some bacon to go with his omelet???...teg

I hope the GOP can pull it off. Do not think the Democrats will not fight like all get out to hold onto this seat. Let us hope that we see a true count.
