There Is Life After the Pee Dee Pride

Once upon a time, not too far back in our past, Florence actually had a Hockey Team. No, not too many people came to the games, and most of them weren't exactly very knowledgable on the game - but they DID enjoy the fights.... Well, back in 2003, the Pee Dee Pride as they were known, packed up their things and took off for Knoxville, Tennessee. You'd think that was the end of Pee Dee Hockey, but many of the guys kept slugging away, and one of them is now in the Big Leagues!
Today, we learned that the St. Louis Blues of the NHL fired coach Andy Murray, and replaced him with former Pride coach Davis Payne. Payne, who went 104-67 with Pee Dee before inexplicably being fired, paid his dues in the ECHL with a few other teams, most recently St. Louis' Peoria, Ill affliate. Now, Payne has his chance to really shine. We wish him luck, and it's a nice reminder that even in small town spots like Florence, South Carolina, a guy can still achieve big things -even in Hockey !!

We need the Pride back in Florence. It gave us something to do and i know if we brought it back we would flock to it. We loved the Pride. People from Lake City, Johnsonville, Pamplico, and other towns in the Pee Dee area would go to the games. We miss it and we want it back. And we don't want a team with a diff name or logo or colors. We want the Pee Dee Pride back. The yellow, red, and black. The Lions Den wants its Pride back!
