Some Candidates Are Still Holding Out ...

Four Gov., LG Candidates Have Yet to File Their Quarterlies ...

The reason these three guys at the table aren't moving are because they're wax dummies.... But why four candidates for statewide office haven't yet filed their reports, which were due three days ago, i'm not sure. My best guess is that we have a good old fashioned game of Chicken, or maybe more appropriately, Blind Man's Bluff, going on.....

To update yesterday's post. Gresham Barrett did file yesterday. He raised almost $550,000 last quarter, and he has over $1.3 in cash on hand - about $200k more than Henry McMaster. The one difference with Barrett is that he is spending a lot as well. Last quarter, he plunked out $182,000 in expenses.... That makes three of the five filing. Andre Bauer did file a correction to his July report, giving him a tick over $600k in the bank, but he's yet to give his October report. Nikki Haley hasn't filed either, but it should be better somewhere in between Barrett's and Larry Grooms' totals....

In the Lt. Governor race, Tim Scott has dropped his junk on the table already, but the staring contest between Ken Ard and Bill Connor still continues. Neither has blinked yet.... Ard could be waiting on Connor to report, then expectedly top him. Connor hasn't made a move yet, but the fact now is that they're both late, and we're all kind of waiting on them, which then raises expectations to the unreasonable level. And we wait ...... They better hurry up, 'cause Mad Dog is getting restless.........

We got some good candidates that are going to have trouble raising money

You realize the reports don't have to be posted until the 15th, right? There is a 5 day grace period. Chill out already. You might be waiting until Thursday.

You must not know me very well. Patience is not my strong suit. Besides, there are a couple of us bloggers here, and we try to get the word out first.

Haley and Bauer have since reported...

Just waiting that one last in-kind receipt... All the data is entered except for one last line.

Here's what I don't understand. Either it's an October 10 deadline or an October 15 deadline. Why do we have an October 10 deadline with a "grace period" that effectively makes it an October 15 deadline? I know, just semantics, but it's odd.

well, you called Connor and Ard's yet to be filed report "late". Fact is, you are wrong.

Reports are due on the 10th with a 5 day grace period after that.

Geez, get your facts straight, Mike.

I think when the campaign manager of one of the two camps I have listed writes in to give a friendly update, even they realize that this is all in good fun. I bust the SCGOP's balls on a regular basis. It's my job, and they actually like it..

No, I don't claim to be aware of every FEC and SC Ethics commissions rule, and I could really care less. When they all say October 10th, I check on October 10th. Lighten up, Francis.

Like Josh said, Connor's numbers are in: 58k raised, 41k spent, leaving $38k in cash on hand, with an outstanding loan of $22k open.

I know Bill and Joshua's focus has been on the pavement, but some breathing room in the cash dept. sure would be appreciated...

Speaking of which, is Kelly Payne running or not for Education Superintendent?

Surely she has spent over $500 by now.

She is kind of under te same umbrella as Andre right now. She is intending to run, but has not announced nor raised money. She doesn't speak at any political functions either, so she hasn't needed to file yet - but time is running out.

Just wondering because her campaign website is open to fund raising.

One wonders if Barrett and McMaster have permission to shift from other accounts to the Gov's race accounts... not that the ethics crew might overlook some of those subtleties...
