Obviously, September 11th hit the New York area unlike anyplace else. People from all over take the trains into Manhattan to work, and some of them, even from 60 miles away like Port Jeff, never made it home that day.
This is a statue that overlooks the harbor area.. It has a huge crack on the right side of it, but just like the people here, it still stands. On the front it reads "In all our days, we've never seen a day like this. 9/11/01 - In memory of all those lost." I always thought it sounded like something a person would say after a bad day at work - like 'Geez Honey, you wouldn't believe the day I had at work'. But maybe it fits. Most of them made it out fine, they went home, and then the next day - they got back on the train like nothing ever happened. Crazy. New York....
