A Test of Courage: How I Survived Hurricane Hanna.

Hanna Tears the Roof Off Of My Dealership - Maybe Not.

Often , we don't take advantage of covering crucial moments in our life. Last night, I did, and I had my camera along with me to document every iota of my greatest challenge ever - surviving Hurricane Hanna. It was a hurricane at some point, right? Anyway, read on for a true testament to the human spirit - One Man vs. Mother Nature. I'll just tell it hour-by-hour, hit-by-hit....

530PM
I get out of work, and Hanna is flexing her first muscles. Hard rain, some wind. Even though it is early, as you can see, she literally tears my car dealership apart like a wishbone - with some assistance from the construction crew that's been onsite for the past six months. Water is everywhere.... I drive home in relative safety, until I realize that my car blows engines driving thru the smallest puddle.. I wet my pants immediately, but I make it home safely.

700PM
Old Glory hangs tough on my house, but the winds hit a whopping 22 MPH, and I go to my fridge to drink myself into oblivion via my Hakutake, but with no limes or Tonic, it is undrinkable, and I know I'm going to have to reach deep from within and withstand the onslaught. Then I remember..

800PM
I do the only thing to take my mind off of Hanna's fury - no, the Trophy Club is closed, so I go to Chris' house and jam with him and Chad. My fingers ache with fear that the house will cave in , but it holds up to the 3 inches of rain and 25 MPH blistering winds... Only by the Grace of God....My guitar playing sucks.

1100PM
I return home to find my house has become an emergency animal shelter. Ben's friend Sarah - who is very hot - left this dog after she rescued it, and her dog tried to eat it. To Brandy Dewitt of Cashua Dr, we have Scooby, please answer your damn phone, and pick him up.......I go to bed, and use my cellphone as my alarm clock, knowing CP&L will not keep the power on.

200AM
Boom, Boom - out go the lights. Clearly, CP&L is unable to sustain power against Hanna's massive 28MPH winds, although the rain has about stopped. I go back to sleep, and pray that I am still alive in the morning....

630 AM, Saturday.
I awake, and assess the damage. As you can see, i'm going to have to get up on a ladder, and reattach the gutter - and maybe throw the leaves out of it while I'm up there. I truly have dodged a bullet......The rest of the house survives.
As you can tell, I am truly lucky to be alive today. How did I survive? Through my unending faith, and by thinking of ALL of you guys. SC6 has gone on for too long to end now, and there was no way a Hurricane (okay, Tropical Storm) was going to keep me from blogging.... Perhaps you had a similar harrowing experience. If so, feel free to share your story with us. After all, we are ALL survivors.....

Nope, it's still in the fridge, chilling .

BTW, that damn dog is still here.. He keeps growling at us, and he tried to bite Ben yesterday. Way to show appreciation , eh? The little shit goes to the pound tomorrow if no one calls..

It's Tuesday, and the dog is still here. Ben found a new owner for him at work, since the owners haven't called back in five days.
