Better Late Than Never... 114 Yr. Old Lady Registers to Vote.

Meet Virginia Call... The Chicago lady celebrated her 114th birthday by registering to vote. Call, whose family confirmed her age through a family bible, had voted until about 20 years ago, when she moved in with her nephew and she forgot to update her information.

Though local Elections Commissioners refused to reveal which party she registered under, it's pretty safe to say that she's a Democrat. We often accuse Dems of registering dead people, but in this case, it looks like they got one right. Let's hope she makes it to the election.

To give you an idea of how old Virginia is, here's a sampling of events of 1894......

Grover Cleveland was President.

New England Telephone installed the first battery-powered switchboard

Coca Cola is sold in bottles for the first time

West Palm Beach, Fl is incorporated

The first chartered High School west of the Allegheny Mountains is built.

others born in 1894:

Norman Rockwell, Jack Benny, Moms Mabley, Bessie Smith, Dashiell Hammett, Nikita Khrushchev, Rudolf Hess, Aldous Huxley, James Thurber.

I have no doubt that votes were cast in her name during that 20 year interval...
