For a couple months, we've outlined why Jim Clyburn has stayed 'neutral' in endorsing a Presidential candidate. When Hillary was a done deal, he fawned over her and held her hand... Then Barack Obama closed the gap, and Old Jim suddenly was staying out of the race. Now that Obama has pulled out to a 10 point lead in South Carolina, he seems ready to pick Obama. But a good politician can't just pick a candidate for any reason - they have to blame someone else for it. And Jim found a reason......
Watching Keith Olbermann's Countdown last night, Jim apparently is pissed off at Hillary because she said that Martin Luther King Jr. "needed Lyndon Johnson"....... OOPS !! Now, anyone with the slightest bit of political brains knows you don't pass judgement on MLK to African-Americans. He is like Robert E. Lee to Southerners - his image has been marbleized, so even if he she might be partially right to a degree, you just don't say it. Right or wrong it was a stupid thing to say.
Now, as marginal a mistake as it was, it was all Clyburn was looking for...... He's now got his open door to endorse Obama and take credit for him winning SC, despite Obama's double-digit lead. Then Jim can try to shill for a Cabinet gig if Obama wins. The whole idea of him staying neutral was laughable all along, now he can blame it on someone else - like he always does.
