No Word If Actor and Michigan Native Jeff Daniels Has Endorsed Yet..
We're one day before the Michigan Primary, and according to the polls - none of which I've seen - both Mitt Romney and John McCain are tied for the lead, with Mike Huckabee lagging a bit behind. With all the importance that both camps have laid on Michigan, the gloves are starting to come off.
Romney and McCain's camps are both focusing on each other. Romney would appear to be the more desperate of the two. He hasn't taken a major state yet, and he has pinned everything on his native state. In fact, one has to think about where Romney will go after Michigan, win or lose. His game plan was based on winning early, and that hasn't happened. With a win in Michigan, and what looks like a likely win in South Carolina, McCain looks to be in the drivers seat as the candidates get ready for Florida and Super Duper Tuesday.
As close as the race is, a big endorsement at the last minute could still turn the Primary, so here are a list of famous Michiganders who might stick their nose in the race....
You've got rapper/redneck Kid Rock..
Director/ BS Artist Michael Moore
Michigan's Poet Laureate (seriously!)
rocker Bob Seger...
Lastly, the man who ruined the Knicks...former Detroit Pistons guard Isaiah Thomas...

One wonders where the DeVos and VanAndel $$$ are going and who they're backing...
I had no idea Devo was from Michigan - I thought they were from Ohio.
wake up einstein! it isn't DEVO(s) as in the band. It is Devos as in the family. The ultra right wing social con family that co-founded AMWAY! Multi-billionaire family that controls more of Michigan than the Big 3 auto makers combined.
Jeez.... Easy, Big Boy. To answer the question, I looked up all the Devos on the cycles this year, and the only on ewho got money was Romney - for $200!! Looks like they are staying neutral, or just supporting the RNC.
Romney will squeak out the win in Michigan he will also win the Nevada caucus.
your picks have been better than mine so far, Moye.. McCain has had good crowds in Michigan, and that's usually a good sign. Romney really needs this one, but if McCain wins here, look out.
One of the DeVos clan (in FL) has coughed up a little to Rudy. They've dropped more on Vern Ehlers and Sue Myrick in the House. I suspect, given their postion, they won't throw much into the race til the convention's picked the nominee.
The Devos may also decide to throw their quan to the Libertarian presidential nominee if the nominee should be Wayne Allen Root. Root is oddly enough the candidate that could get on the national debate stage. The Devos through their emissaries have been quietly been putting large sums of money into the Libertarian party for a number of years.
I've heard that there is a movement in Michigan to vote for Ron Paul in the hopes of him running a 3rd party candidacy as a Libertarian. I'm not so sure he'll do it.
I don't know about that last option Mike. It seems that Ron Paul is attracting the kook wing of the libertarians, leaving the Libertarian Party with the credible folks that aren't into the tin foil hats and black helicopters. Root has potential, therefore cannot be allowed, by mainstream media, to have a credible presence, if any presence whatsoever, on the national stage.
Intersting times indeed.
