Here's How Much Washington Is Spending On the Election .... Times a Billion !!

Damn.... That's a Lot of Cashish ..
Just in case you thought the budget was the only place that the candidates were spending a lot more this year, think again. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, spending is up this election cycle by 27% - totalling over $5 Billion. For an idea of how big $5 Billion is, if you lined up a dollar end to end, $5 Billion would extend from Florence all the way to Mars Bluff......... Wait, I mean Mars the Planet. Maybe somewhere in between there....
So, who is to blame for all this. Well, the Presidential candidates spent a total of $2.4 billion on their campaigns alone, led by Barack Obama raising a sickening $600 million. That is double the 2004 race, and triple the 2000 race. Last election cycle, the bar to run a entire campaign was about $100 million. For $600 million, Obama could buy a major sports franchise....
But hey, there are plenty of others to scold.... You can't ever forget about those PAC's... Every corporation and special interest group has to hedge their bets. Want a good laugh? The largest donating corporation was Goldman Sachs - the investment bank. The largest doanting association was the National Association of Realtors. So, is there any coincidence that the two biggest "emergency expenditures" were to save the Real Estate and Investment markets.. There are no coincidences, are there ??
