Yes, this is another one of THOSE stories.... The goofy news stories that you guys all love so much. Here we go. A lady in Sekiu, Washington recently was at home with her heater stove on , when suddenly, she heard aloud bang, and was shot in the calf. Luckily, she wasn't injured too badly, and she was treated and released.
Now the big question: how do you get shot in the leg by a stove?? Well, it seems that she dropped soem shotgun shells near the stove, and a couple of the shells fell into a pile of newspaper for the stove, and she missed them. The newspapers eventually made their way into the stove, they got hot, then BANGO !!! Shot in the leg, a la Dick Cheney !!

That happened to me when I was younger. Though I did not get shot by it, I had put a piece of wood in the wood stove, shut the door and heard a loud bang. Fortunatly the stove was a heavy cast iron! The gas stoves are alot thinner.
I just noticed the misspelling on the title.. Whoops! It's fixed now.
Did a bullet/shotgun actually explode, or was it just the log? According to the article, this one was cast iron also - maybe she left it open.
yep, my mom put a .22 bullet in the fire without realizing it. it went off and the dog hauled ass across the room.
actually we used to throw them in the fire it is hard to believe someone got hit as the back of the bullet is what moves not the lead try it out for yourself
