Meet the Salwen Family.... They're Better People Than You or Me.....
Honestly, some people are more fortunate than other people in this world. Some make their own way, soem get lucky, and some are born into wealth. I don't know the Salwen Family, but I can tell you one thing - they are good people, because they are doing something that I would probably never think of....
They are selling their 6500 sq. ft downtown Atlanta mansion, built in 1912, and moving into a house half the size. While lots of people do that out of necessity, they are doing iy for good. They are taking half of the net proceeds from the sale - almost $800,000 - and donating it to feed the hungry. WOW !!!!
I'm not sure who's idea it was, although Mom looks like a bit of a Neo-Hippie, they ultimately decided as a family to give the money to Feed The Hungry, an African relief group they chose after nearly a year of vetting groups. How the Mike Reino Foundation for Wayward Strippers didn't make the cut, I have NO IDEA...
In a world of rich people blowing millions on handbags and Maserati's, it's nice to see a family thta has it's head screwed on straight. Of course, it will be a good way to offset the Capital Gains Tax on the house, but that is another point. Plus, it feels better giving than paying taxes to give, doesn't it? That is what America is all about.....
