If you go to San Francisco, you have to visit the Golden Gate Bridge - it's the law.. Over 10 million people visit it each year - almost as many people as those who shop at Magnolia Mall. Kidding !! It is the top sightseeing spot in America. But , it also has another distinction - it is the Number One spot for suicides in the world.
Since it's completion in 1937, over 1250 people have jumped off the bridge, with the highest being 40 in 1937. Well, city officials have a plan to construct a steel and plastic net that would extend the entire length of the bridge, at cost of approximately $40-50 million. Yes, that's a lot of money, and I'm sure it'll be plenty ugly, but with one person killing themselves every other week on average, it's a mircle that no one has sued the city already, so it may be a smart move financially in the long run....
If that doesn't work, maybe they can try this classic 80's video....

I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend...
Somebody's gotta feed the fishes...
Why have you come here, in the sanctity of my blog, and disrespected my post in this way??
This is a beautiful bridge but I get white knuckled just thinking about driving over it.
I hope their intentions about the net can save more lives.
that is actually a pretty cool bridge to drive across, and the view from Marin county is killer.
