Is This Obama, Or Horatio Caine From CSI Miami ???
The nice thing when you have a blog like mine, is that lots of people send you things that they think are 'blogworthy'. Of course, most of them aren't - mainly because I didn't think of them, but some are. Not always for the right reason, but because they got a twisted view of what the story is actually about.
Such may be the case with this picture I got of Barack Obama this week. It shows him carrying a book, and what that book was is of great concern to some people I know... The book is "The Post-America World" by Fareed Zakaria. It's focus is about the future powers of the world, and how America will no longer be the great superpower of Earth. It's pretty critical of the US political system, where partisanship has essentially paralyzed the growth of our country, where more autocratic nation (India, China, Russia) have been able to make gains. Zakaria basically says the US will soon be in a position where it will need to negotiate, and prepare for being Number Two...
Is Obama just reading an interesting read - like that Dianetics book - or does he really believe this sceario, and is preparing to lead America from a stance of capitulation? Don't ask me - I can't read the guy's mind... I like a President who can understand a topic from all sides before making a decision - and telling the wrong side to suck it... It looks like we'll soon be finding out if he takes the book for gospel or not.....
What I don't understand is the goofy take people take on where this book is coming from. I had it sent to me that the book is taken 'from a Muslim viewpoint'. Let's get the info straight here. Zakaria is an Indian-American , and almost all people from India are Hindu, not Muslim. To find the American hating Muslim in the region, you have to go across the border to Pakistan. You may remember the war the two countries had about 60 years ago. No, I wan't there either, but I know about it somehow. I read.....And I saw 'Gandhi'.
No, I don't like the prospect of America being a second class power in the future, but there MAY be a small shred of truth in the theory - and yes, the truth hurts sometimes. But I get a little queasy from all the distortions about the whole religion thing, where it's obvious that there are a lot of Christians who are confused and a bit bigoted about those not like them. Xenophobic? I hate the term, but a little biased, maybe...

America is being decieved! Most of the trouble we are in, is because we have put ourselves there. Don't they know that alot of these things are scare tactics, to get us to fall for the first person who claims to be the one who can fix it all! I am a Veteran, I know how it works! Obama has no intention of standing up for the American People.
I would agree that most of America's problems are self-inflicted, and Zakaria has a point in that the lack of bipartisanship has crippled our progress.
As far as the President, I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Who is president matters very little, Congress is the problem. All legislation starts there, no matter what the Prez wants to do.
Elizabeth, you don't know how it works, because none of them intend on standing up for the american people. If you think any of the people "serving" in Washington give a damn, you are delusional. Again, the opposite of progress is congress.
We have done this to ourselves because we are too afraid to stand up for our rights anymore.
