A Notice to the Ladies: Stop Sunbathing !!

Mmmmm... Nothing's Sexier Than Skin Cancer .
We're going to take a minute here to tell you the obvious: sunbathing causes skin cancer. Throw on all the SPF you want, but if you're out there trying to get that ultimate tan, you're asking for trouble..
Why am I addressing this the ladies? Because I like picking on girls..... No, just kidding ! It's because the skin cancer rates for men have been level for the past 20 years, while those for women have doubled over the same period. It has been whispered that the reason is that women use tanning machine much more than men, and it's taking it's toll....
Another reason may be the false sense of security that waering sunscreen gives you. Just because you have sunscreen on doesn't mean that you can spend all day in the sun. You have to be careful anyway. Personally, i like to have a bit of color too, but I don't work on it - it's not a priority. Also, if it helps, I love my sweetie's alabaster skin, although the tanning does bring out the freckles on her. Sorry, I LOVE freckles... Sorry, I got sidetracked. A.D.D......
Stay out of the sun.

As a NC licensed Esthetician (and your sister)I read the same article and printed out at work. The amount of skin cancer cases in woman has gone up 50% between the year 1980 to 2004!!!I was 13-39 years old during those years. Prime tanning years for my generation. Thanks to CoCo Chanel, the "tan" became a sign of "health" (and wealth). Funny how this healthly look is killing people at a rate of 62,480 new cases of melanoma by 2008.
I have a generation of people who have learned their evil ways of tanning finally and now look for the "quick cure", the "magic potion" in a bottle to correct all the stupid crap they did to their body 20 years ago. However this generation is also bringing up children who hit tanning beds and sunbath earlier than we ever did. I had clients as young as 14 tell me they are hitting tanning beds up to 3x a week! And the point for a 14 year old to have a tan is???????? Ohhh yeah! So she can die from skin cancer at an age when she's still beautiful and youthful looking!
There is so many options of tanning out there now besides baking yourself into a cripsy,dehydrated,uber-hyperpigmented leather looking handbag.
